Getaround

The experience with the company had been unprofessional since the day I signed up. When I signed up for the membership, it took six days for them to verify me (after I had to call them twice on the matter). They have horrible customer service. I rented a car yesterday and the car was not in the location stated on the app. I called customer service and the gave the wrong street name. Then when I finally found the car, it had trash in it and the gas tank was not full like it said it would be. The icing on the cake was that they stole my money! I made my reservation with extra time in insure no late fees, and I returned the car early. I called to get the reservation to end, and they refuse to end it. They have taken 9 hrs of my money and refuse to credit my account. Don’t waste your time with this company.

My First Time Ever using any car-​sharing program: D! … *Dismal Sigh*
I attended the Taste of D.C. event and was offered a $ 50 promo credit as a result. Yay :) — I thought. In a crunch, I needed a quick car to get me to a meeting this morning.
I thought of the promo, and thought to myself, «Why not? I’ll use this as an opportunity to try Getaround. Maybe it’ll be more convenient than the Enterprise CarShare program because of all the cars Getaround has in various locations.»
*BUZZER SOUND* It wasn’t. Long-​story short, they attempted to charge me $ 151 for a $ 15.62 cent total rental, and didn’t even apply the promo credit I applied to the purchase. There was no visible (to me) note that stated that my total would – for whatever reason – be $ 151 (whaaaa??) instead of $ 15.62. I ended up going with Enterprise CarShare, which was pretty straightforward, even though you can only pick up cars from certain headquarters.

I rent my car out on Relay Rides and tried out Getaround and the experience has been absolutely awful.
I had pending issues with my car (flat tire etc) from rentals and their follow up was awful, I had to pay out of pocket myself because they never came to pick my car up like they said and never resolved the issues. I asked to take my car off of Getaround and they have to uninstall something from your car– they scheduled 3 separate appointments and never picked my car up and never wrote me back when I emailed about it, which was frustrating because I turned down rentals because they said they were coming.
All around awful experience, highly recommend
though. I’ve been renting from them for over a year and have had stelar experience!

So I recently got a job that made it so I don’t drive my car hardly at all anymore but my lease isn’t up til March. I decided to give Getaround a try since it seemed pretty low risk with their insurance policy and ability to unlock my car via the app. They also gave me 30 days no-​cost and a guarantee of a certain amount of money if I made my car available a certain amount of time (I won’t say how much since my particular deal is over I believe). Let me just say, I am really impressed. My car’s first rental was July 26 and here we are at Aug 18 and I’m at about $ 425 in revenue already. I will update if I experience any problems but so far its been smooth as can be and the money is already better than I expected!
