Description

Specialties

GCDC makes the largest variety of grilled cheese sandwiches in Washington DC ranging from the popular Kim Cheese Steak and the District Cemita at lunch to the Lobster and Gouda and Shortrib GC at night. We prepare ingredients from scratch in our kitchen and use special blends of cheeses. We make our own tomato soup «with a kick», tater tot casseroles including our «poutine» style, and our rich and delicious lobster mac and cheese. Please check our website for our various menus. Our «make your own GC and Mac and Cheese» is available weekdays at lunch only.

We have a full bar at happy hour and dinner with patio seating a half block from the White House and the Renwick Gallery.

History

Established in 2014.

GCDC opened in April 2014. We are a family owned restaurant. The idea came to Bruce Klores, a Washington DC attorney almost a decade ago, but the constraints of his law practice kept him from his life long dream of opening a friendly local spot with tasty comfort food. Steven Klores, Bruce’s son, a natural cook, put his music career on hold to open the restaurant. The rest is history!
