I dropped off an item to be custom framed and matted in September. I selected the frame and color of the mat and was told the job (which would be performed off-​site) would take 10 – 14 days.
When I received a call 10 days later, I thought it would be to tell me it was ready to be picked up. Instead, i was told that the mat I had selected wasn’t in stock, and that they would try to call around to see if anyone else had the mat available. The following week, it was confirmed that the mat I had selected could not be found. Two weeks were already wasted simply because they had a sample of a mat that was actually unavailable in the store, and they did not bother to confirm its availability before the job was sent out to be completed.
I selected another mat-​and specifically asked them to confirm that it was available-​and was told once again that the job would take two weeks (even though the frame was supposed to have been cut and the matting process doesn’t take much time). I checked on the day that they received deliveries, and my item was wrapped up with the word «rush» on it. I thought I would finally have my finished product, but instead, it was just the item and the mat. The man working in the shop that day tried to determine if the frame had also been delivered, since it would require assembly at the shop, and got on the phone with someone who didn’t know anything about it.
In between, whenever I called to determine the status of my order, either a) no one would pick up the phone, even during business hours, or b) someone would pick up, say they’d look into it and call me back, and then not call me back. The service I’ve received has been unprofessional and highly disappointing – not to mention overpriced. (I paid $ 98 for the framing and this kind of customer service).
I have no doubt that the finished product will be just what I wanted – but I’m also sure that another framing shop could have done just as well, and with much better service. To avoid frustration and delays with your custom framing orders, definitely go somewhere else.
