We’re a family owned company whose mission is to provide quality pet care service by caring for our client’s pets as if they were our own. We’re an all employee-​based company and take pride in hiring and training pet loving, responsible care givers.

The Dog Wash has 5 fully stocked, waist-​high, back and knee friendly, professional grade baths. We’ll give you everything you need to get your dog clean and keep you dry. We offer high-​quality Earthbath shampoos along with the FURminator treatments. No appointments necessary.

We also offer pet sitting and dog walking in DC and Northern VA. Our extensive back-​up procedures and proprietary systems ensure your pet receives consistent, uninterrupted care.

Our Levels Dog Training program focuses on building you and your dog’s skills, not on maintaining a rigid class schedule. You and your dog progress through the skill levels at your own pace. Classes are held at our Arlington location. We also offer private in-​home training.

History

Established in 2000.

Tammy started the company out of her home, as a part time job. In 2001, Tammy left her corporate IT job and expanded the business to include dog walking and pet taxis. In 2003, the dog daycare opened in Arlington. In 2004, group dog training classes launched and became the Levels Program in 2008. In 2006, dog walking and pet sitting services expanded into Washington, DC. In May 2010, the Dog Wash opened in Adams Morgan and private consultations were added as a training service. In early 2011, we opened a Dog Training School next to our Daycare.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Tammy founded Fur-​Get Me Not in 2000 as a part time job and a first step towards becoming a dog trainer. She got married in 2001 and left corporate America to pursue her passion. She continued her dog training education by apprenticing with an established local trainer, graduating from the San Francisco SPCA Dog Trainers Academy, and finally meeting the requirements to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT). In December 2011, Tammy was among the first dog trainers in the DC Metro Area to earn the title of CPDT-​Knowledge & Skills Assessed (CPDT-​KSA).

Tammy tries to infuse her behavior knowledge into all of Fur-​Get Me Not’s services and has discovered a love for managing a business in addition to understanding pet behavior.

In May 2010, her husband, Steve, left his 15-​year corporate America career behind to join Tammy at Fur-​Get Me Not.

Tammy and Steve live in Arlington with their two children and their Golden Retriever, Hunter, who has been by Tammy’s side since 2001.
