Sometimes it’s good to keep a few secret places to yourself, you like the level of comfort of knowing«hey this is my spot! I can drink a few brews, watch the game and stumble home without catching the bus!» I think i found a good spot that almost lets me live out my Cheers TV show fantasy! The place is in Little Ethiopia, y’know that stretch of places on 9th near U st. It’s small and when you go in you go through the basement entrance but once you’re in the yellow walls are inviting and soothing. they got a full bar, they got decent happy hours, and they do serve food that anyone at a bar would appreciate. the only thing that kills the atmosphere is the wait, but the drinks keep coming so it seems not as bad, but i’d suggest not going in with an appetite and expecting 3 minute service. The Wings and fish themselves are almost worth the wait. There’s 2 floors and 2 bars too, a dance floor upstairs if you feel inclined to get ya boogie on. Some nights there’s a DJ, but the owners do a good job of selecting tunes that fit the mood. weekend nights seem to do better, and thursdays they have a game night where you can act like a kid with board games, X-Box and Wii and even Operation for all of you with failed med school dreams. Overall it’s worth a check out for a low key night with a few drinks and convo with friends, who knows? this could become the place where everybody knows your name…
