Embassy of Luxembourg

I went there with my friend and daughter and it was the most unpleasant conversation ever. To start, he came down with an attitude, «you don’t show up to the embassy just like that» no greeting what so ever. I asked why was he upset with us, he completely ignored my question and start telling us we needed to book an appointment and «if, I said if, (with his finger pointing) approve your request I will give you an appointment». Then I asked what If I don’t have Internet immediate access? Can I make an appointment by phone or here with you now? His answer was «too bad for you good bye» and slammed the door on us. It was a total shock to me and my friend! I have been to Luxembourg and never had such experience. In fact, the woman I dealt in Luxembourg was absolutely amazing! She even went beyond her comfort to finish the paper work she had started for my daughter passport (she was late for her lunch and came out of her office to give me direction to get to the highway). As I said my experience with Luxbourgish ppl was great except this man (I think he is a man dressed as woman) at the embassy of Luxembourg in DC. I have heard bad things about the embassy stuff, but I didn’t know they were referring to this man. I hope they will change this attitude so they can represent Luxembourg and the ppl of Luxembourg in the better way.

I attend concerts here occasionally. I love how there are hidden doors in several of the rooms. The dining room has two, leading into the kitchen. There is one at the elevator in the lobby as well as the coat room. The side parlor room has the bathroom doors this way. The second floor has them as well, leading into another kitchen.

This is a review of the embassy’s participation in the European Union Embassies’ Open House on May 9^th, 2009.
This was the first of the six embassies I managed to visit today, and it was the most disappointing. I know nothing more about Luxembourg now than before I entered the embassy. There were a few photos on display showing either Hillary Clinton or George W Bush visiting a dignitary from Luxembourg. There were a few paintings as well. Nothing in the way of promotional literature, food, or drink was provided however. But they had the advantage of having a small line. And ironically their passport stamp was the smallest of all of the countries.

Stop #3 on the EU Open House tour. I loved everything about the interior of the Embassy of Luxembourg. A relaxing color scheme in the sitting room with light yellow walls and really neat paintings of white trees. Hard to capture in words but if you have a chance to attend an event here, don’t pass up the chance.
