4 stars because I didn’t like some of the other food and it takes FOREVER to come out, But the catfish dinner gets 5 stars hands down.

Went there after a concert right down the road at Echostage. We were hungry. Ordered wings and tenders. DAMN! They can fry some chicken at that place. Best tenders I’ve ever had. Wings were delicious too. Like the other Unilocalers have said about this place: they feet it light and crispy. Fries were great too. The bread at the bottom was a garnish maybe? Didn’t eat that, but devoured the rest.

What a neighborhood gem! A neighbor recommended this place saying food was good but she noticed that parking lot was often empty and she would hate to lose this place. That very day we tried them out. We ordered a catfish, a perch and a chicken gizzard dinner. The food was hands down great! The catfish was light, buttery and melt in your mouth! The perch was fantastic and the gizzards were good cooked a little too long for me though. The fries were kind of an after thought but I will def check them out again! They gig you TONS of condiments too.

Went their on Sunday evening, ordered the fried wings and French fries. Everything was greasy, & didn’t taste good at all. The cashier acted like she did not want to be there, & wasn’t too polite to the cook. The word«please» will go a long way when you’re asking someone to do something for you. The décor was nice but all the seats were dirty and crumb laden. A half eaten chicken bone lay in a pile of debris consisting of dirt, dust, lint & trash sitting idly by the trash can. It remaind there from the time I got their till the time I left, about ½hr. The bathroom was also a mess. Sounds like the DC Health Department needs to pay them a visit.

If you are into wonderfully seasoned, light and not greasy fried fish please please go check out this place. I had the catfish(small) 2 piece platter. I have been looking for old school fish place and this hits the mark.

Crappy service, and even worse food. Waited 20 minutes for a chicken cheeseteak sub that was overcooked and the fries were cold.

Office ordered lunch from here on Friday, 7⁄24. Can’t eat fish however called to ensure that they don’t use the same grease for fries, chicken, etc… they said nope so I went for the 4wings and fries meal. BADMOVE. When the runner got back with the food, opened the carry-out, fries and chicken smelling real good. Tasted the fries, still a little warm given the distance from the resturant to office, excellent!!! When I got to the chicken… oh my, I wanted to know who killed the baby chicken and took its wing… see pic full size slice of white bread look at the ting wing in comparison. Somebody should have been smacked for actually counting that tiny wing in my 4pcs… really…SMDH

Nooo don’t go. They use the same oil for everything so unless you want fish don’t do it. I feel like I just ate a plate full of hate and misery boiled in despair as opposed to the chicken tenders I ordered.

Who would have though a full parking lot at a club nearby would lead me to this treasure. Tried to go to a local club and the lot was full so we drove a little ways down the street and parked on the side of the road. A couple of hours after stepping out of the club and feeling the craving of slightly buzzed hunger I decided to give this place a shot and I am forever happy I did. Place is nothing to look at, a nice little hole in the wall but with friendly staff and more importantly good and cheap food. I was craving the wings so I went all in for a ten piece and fries, all for less than 9 dollars. The chicken wings were amazing and not just because I had been drinking, they were truly amazing, fried perfectly, seasoned to perfection and moist and tender on the inside. Easily one of the best batch of chicken wings that I have ever enjoyed. One small complaint is they were a little on the skimpy side but the flavor more than made up for it. While I don’t frequent this side of the city very often, I will make it my mission in life to stop through even if I’m remotely in the neighborhood. Place is amazing and well worth a visit.

Dolphins Fish & Chicken is an eatery off of Bladensburg; they offer a variety of fried seafood(combos and by-piece), sandwiches, salads, side orders, and drinks(Pepsi products and slushee). I tried the 4-piece fried chicken wings(it had a nice batter and it was crispy and crunchy; this came with 2 slices of white bread and a cup of creamy & crunchy coleslaw); a 2-piece catfish filet combo(this came with 2 slices of white bread, a side of generous amount of fries, and a cup of coleslaw; the fish had a light batter to it, but the catfish itself was very fresh and very delicate; great with their hot sauce(don’t be shy in asking for more!)); 6-piece fried shrimp(this also came with 2 slices of white bread and a generous amount of fries; the shrimp were deveined and were pretty crispy, but I think the batter could have been better); and, a Pizza Puff combo(!!! I was extremely curious to see if this was an Il Taco pizza puff; it looked like a puzza puff, but at the same time, the filling seasoning was a little off, and it was covered with cornmeal and not fried crisply; the staff didn’t know what brand it was, and I don’t think I’d get it again(or maybe request it to be fried hard the next time to see if that makes it any better); this also came with a generous amount of fries). I also tried the orange and the fruit punch slushees — both were definitely sweet and refreshing, and a nice frozen treat on a hot day. I’d love to come back and try out their other fried fish options, such as the cod and the perch, as well as their hot wings. The staff were friendly, and there were plenty of tables to sit and enjoy your food. Many were doing carry-outs as well, and there is private lot to park your car. +catfish filet with hot sauce: D +creamy & crunchy coleslaw: D +fruit punch and orange slushee: D +friendly staff: D +private lot for your car

Stopped here to pick up lunch on the way back from a meeting today. Two plusses immediately visible are there is ample parking in the parking lot and seating inside the restaurant. You can tell this place has been recently renovated. it looks and feels clean upon entrance. I ordered the Cod Fish Dinner option which only comes in a large portion(4 pieces of fish) and it comes with coleslaw, fries, and white bread. I am not used to eating fried fish in the States, so this was actually my first time ordering this type of meal for myself… and I was pleasantly surprised! I didn’t eat the bread, but the fish, fries and coleslaw were good! Will definitely go here again when I’m in the mood for fried fish.

Came and was happy to see they had a drive thru! Ordered the dried flounder and fries aka fish and chips everywhere else, the food was amazing. Place was clean but service was sucky. The food took over 15mins, at a window? Even though food was great, the guy at the window was kind of rude, never apologized for the crazy wait and gave a very limited amount of condiments :/lol

At the recommendation of a friend, I decided to try this spot and to my surprise it was VERY good! I ordered a 3 piece chicken tender, whiting and 3 jumbo shrimp platter with fries and cole slaw. The seasoning on all of it was fantastic! Everything is cooked fresh so don’t expect to run in and run out with your food once you place your order. I would definitely recommend Dolphins to those of you who like fish and chicken.

I use Unilocal regularly to get a good idea of an establishment, but I never like to give any bad reviews that may negatively affect anyone’s business. However, with Dolphin’s, they defiantly earned a 1-star. And it’s too bad because the owner did a great job renovating the place and really cleaned it up. Service — guys behind the counter tried to be friendly, but the 25 min wait for a 1 fish meal without anyone ahead or behind me? That’s inexcusable! Frying frozen fish should not take longer than 10 mins to cook! Food — Everything was just low quality. Seemed like everything, I mean Everything was previously frozen and nothing was made fresh. French fries were definitely previously frozen, Cole slaw was runny and too sweet, and the hush puppies were just mediocre. Even the tartar sauce was in a package. If there is one sauce in the world that’s the easiest to make, it would have to be tartar sauce. How hard is it to mix mayo and sweet relish???

Everything I’ve had so far has been so good! I ordered the fried chicken wings and I’ve also had the chicken tenders meal. Both come with fries and two pieces of white bread. I really like the way they season the chicken. It’s not too much but the flavor is there as supposed to just a greasy taste. I’d recommend this place to anyone.

This place was a Wendy’s many years ago. Service was friendly, fast and accurate. We were acknowledged as soon as we came in the door by the gentleman at the counter. Fish, chicken, subs and several side dishes to choose from. They even have spaghetti as a side! My sister ordered a side of hush puppies and they were delicious. I will definitely get an order the next time I go back. I ordered 12 pieces of fish and added fries, cole slaw and bread for an additional $ 6.99. My total was $ 31. A little pricier than going to one of the well know fish places on H street. I must admit, I liked Dolphins fish better. The fish was crunchy on the outside but meaty on the inside. The parking lot is well lit. The inside of the restaurant has ample seating if you desire to eat in. The inside is bright and clean as well. They’ve been open for about 3 months. I hope they are able to stay. My sister lives 5 minutes from the restaurant and was happy to see it – which is why we stopped.
