History

Established in 2012.

Derrick’s Paintbrush was launched in the spring of 2012. Initially, the website was created in order to showcase the work of Derrick and other budding artists. Over the years, Derrick’s Paintbrush has grown into a sip and paint company offering classes to adults and children.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Derrick Morgan is a self taught artist born and raised in Washington, DC. His interest in drawing was triggered by witnessing the talents of his artistic older brother at the tender age of 7. He spent a great deal of time honing his craft by drawing cartoons and comic book characters. During those early years, Derrick often dreamed of being a cartoonist or architect. As a young adult, Derrick was inspired to try his hand at oil painting by watching Bob Ross on public television. After trying oil painting for the first time, he was hooked. His love of nature and the great outdoors fuels his passion for painting landscapes, seascapes, plants, and flowers. His visits to local parks and nature walks consistently provide him with a multitude of subject matter for his art work. Today, Derrick continues to paint and draw in his spare time and teaches art to children and adults.
