DC Walkabout is a unique Washington DC walking tour company, and come recommended by the Fodors Travel Guide.

We offer the original American Scandal walking tour, as seen on Politico, Washington Examiner, RT, ABC, The Hill, WETA, ThinkProgress, Let’s Talk Live, and more.

We also offer a Haunted History Ghost Tour, Lincoln Assassination Tour, Capitol Hill Tour, Cherry Blossom Tour, and National Mall Tour.

We are the only DC tour company to use historical audio excerpts and speeches, music, and sound effects in our tours, as our walking tours are now available on ITunes, Amazon, and Google Play in audio tour MP3 format. History

Established in 2012.

We initially began as a guided DC walking tour company and quickly branched out into custom and group tours, running tours, pedicab tours, and even scavenger hunts (coming back soon in digital form!). Business was good, and demand was great, and we have gotten alot of press coverage as a result. We have been covered by the likes of Politico, Huffington Post, TheHill, RTTV Russian Television, ABC7, WJLA, WETA, WUSA, The Washington Examiner, The Washington Express, Refinery29, ThinkProgress, and more.

Pretty soon, through talking with our customers, it became very apparent there was a big opportunity and need out there for DC tourism to enter the 21st century.

So we turned our company into an Audio/​MP3 walking tour download company (although you are obviously more than welcome to bike/​run/​rollerskate/​skateboard/​crawl/​etc any of the audio tours!).

I’ve so far taken a couple of the free walking tours: «Pennsylvania Avenue» and «American Scandal.» The guide was a lot of fun, very entertaining, personable, and informative. Definitely recommended!

My friend and I went on the American Scandals tour last Friday night from 7 – 9:30ish. Our guide, Sean? John? Sean John?, was great. He was enthusiastic, knew his facts, and added some well-​places touches of color to the stories that we heard. We started by the Hay Adams and finished at the Capitol reflecting pool, so just about 2 miles. I made the mistake of wearing sandals — won’t happen again.
The tours are free (!) which is fabulous and we were happy to tip our guide for a great tour. Definitely considering taking a few more of the tours offered.

This tour delivers the goods. Being raised just outside of washington d.c. (Bethesda), I’ve gone on innumerable DC sightseeing tours in my lifetime. Every time a family friend or relative visited from out of town meant another trip down to the Mall, another sightseeing tour. Monument tours, ghost tours, «Duck» tours, you name it I’ve done it. But out of all the DC tours I’ve been on this is by far the best. I went last weekend with my nieces and nephews on the Capitol Hill tour, which lasted a little over two hours. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable of the historic sites and presented the information in a fun and lively manner. His enthusiam for the subject was infectious. He had my nieces and nephews in rapt atttention from start to finish. Highly recommend.

This is one of the best ways to experience DC! I learned so much about the Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress and everything else to do with the nation’s capital. The guide answered all of our questions and was super nice. Next time I am in town I will definitely give DC Walkabout a call again and do the War Memorial tour.

I moved to DC about half a year ago and let my parents convince me to do this when they came out to visit in the early fall. They heard about it through a friend and the guide hadn’t even set up a website or anything yet. I didn’t really bring a good attitude into it (typical sticky DC day and I was too hungover for sightseeing really) but lo and behold I ended up really enjoying it. We did the War Memorials tour. The guide was a stitch, and he knew what kind of things you want to hear/​learn on a tour. Not your usual «this was built in 18…» but more surprising, novel stuff. I now recommend the walkabout to most all my out-​of-​town guests.
