Days Inn Washington DC/Gateway

Overall clean hotel. I didn’t stay here but I come here for work.
Staff is usually very attentive and responsive. They don’t wait for 1 – 2 rings to answer the front desk phone. And usually always mopping the floor.
Only thing is that, I don’t know why they don’t open their pool when it’s so hot outside and lot of guests in the hotel. I think they need to invest to open their pool rather than having it closed all summer.

Still undergoing some renovation. Joined with chinese restaurant so if you’re on vacation and get back late at least you know you can get some food. Clean, good rates… it does get noisy sometimes with families and teens since it’s near by lots of DC attractions namely the National Zoo, US Botanic Gardens and other Smithsonian stuff.
Next to gas station, KFC near by. Also a McDonald’s but that is currently also under renovation.
Hotels across the street charge $ 15 a day for guest parking – yes, DC hotels charge you for parking. This Days Inn charged $ 5 a day. Rooms have fridge and microwave. They do take AAA discount.

Hoe, there’s a reason this motel is $ 100.
There was no shampoo in the room and I called the Korean dude at the front desk who looked about 18 years old and asked if they could have a maid bring me a bottle. He was all like, ‘uh we don’t really do that here; you have to come down and get it’. Walked outside and saw a maid smoking a cigarette in the outdoor hallway area…
Bathtub had some kind of flaky white stuff (paint flakes? caulk?) that got on me and was annoying. Light bulbs in the room were burned out. Alarm clock had the wrong time on it… off by about 4.5 hours, way off.
Also, you can walk to absolutely NOTHING from here, except a Chinese restaurant in the hotel that is named on the menu, aptly, ‘The Restaurant In The Hotel’.
There is a gas station next door with a Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-​Robbins. They sell the awful disposable razors and limited stuff like that. If you think you can hang, this shit is for you!

Stayed here for a night before Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten at Echostage (which is across the street from here).
Sure it’s very motel-ish…but honestly everyone staying there was attending the concert. We made a ton of friends…
The room was clean and spacious. Our TV didn’t work, but we weren’t there to spend any time in the room. Parking is $ 5 a day if you’re a guest, $ 10 if you aren’t. (cheaper than parking at echostage !)
It was completely acceptable… I’d probably stay here again if I came down for a concert.

Me and my girlfriend drove down to D.C. from NYC for what should’ve been a couple of days for a mini vacation. Only reason I’m giving it one star is because at check in the staff was polite. First off it promotes a pool but when you go there’s a tarp over the pool with no clear indication that it was ever in use. Second when you first go to the bathroom in the room it had a weird stench to it. Third the Wi-​Fi didn’t work. And finally fourth (and this is the biggest one) !!!BEDBUGS!!! On the very first night of what was supposed to be a three night stay (from 7÷18÷2012 — 7÷21÷2012) I was woken up by my girlfriend at 3 am. She was looking for something with her phone light. When I asked what she was looking for she said she had been bit by something. She pointed out to me a few red swollen lumps on her left side right next to her breasts. There were about five lumps right next to each other with one of them having a small hole that was red with blood.(believe me I took pictures of this) We looked for what could have caused it and once we pulled back the covers we were sleeping under there it was. A fat bed bug! She went on to squeeze it to death (got pictures of that too), and blood splattered around it. We called the front desk to tell them there is a bed bug problem in that room (room 215) and the guy (Sam) calmly asked if we wanted to switch to another room. So calmly that it seemed as if they were used to the issue. We took the new room but we left our bags in the car just as a precaution. As we get into the new room the feeling of disgust and discomfort started to overwhelm me. My girlfriend inspected one of the beds in the new room (room 134) and could not see anything visible. But once I laid my eyes on the other bed there it was. Hiding in one of the crevices of the sheets. Another bedbug.(I took pictures of that too). We then proceeded to killing this one too (got pics of it too) and left the room. We went back to the front office to speak to Sam and showed him the pictures I had just taken. His response was «are you sure it didn’t jump on you from the other room?». I wish I would have seen my facial expression when he said that. I then calmly told him no because we hadn’t even sat on the beds in the new room. He proceeded on asking us if we wanted another room but before he could finish we cut him off and told him we didn’t want to sleep there anymore and we wanted our money back. He calmly (again like its a routine) cancelled our reservation and gave us a cancellation number in the back of the business card. I asked when the manager would be coming in and he said «he comes in around 9 or 10 in the morning». He also told me he would be filing a report about the incident. Since we pretty much had no money left and the refund takes days to credit back to the account we had to sleep in our car for the night. I was to wait till the manager came in in the morning and have my word with him. Around 7 am we were getting tired of waiting and driving around in the car without showering or anything so I called the inn to see what time the manager came in and this time a lady responded «he doesn’t come in until after 2 pm.». Apparently the employees don’t know when their boss arrives. I went on to make sure Sam had accurately cancelled the reservation and that the money would be returned to my girlfriends account. After that we then proceeded to driving back to New York since we didn’t have a place to stay for the remainder of the trip nor money to get one. Needless to say that because of this our little mini vacation from the hustle and bustle of NYC was ruined. All the planning for nothing. I’m very disappointed in the way the inn is run and the way in which it was handled. Best believe that I will be contacting the D.C. Department of Health to file a report/​complain. As for you if you’re reading this, just avoid this place. Not worth it at all.

Good hotel if your planning on engaging in illegal activities and not worrying about getting caught. Located right on the outskirts of town just before NY ave turns into a freeway. The closest bus to this place is the B2, you can get it from Stadium-​Armory metro.

Recently had to stay here for a recent business trip. It was bad enough that I was staying here, yet working across town (in Georgetown), and it took no less then a 45 minutes to drive the 7 miles to get back and forth.
This hotel really sort of scared me. I check in and notice that there is a rolling bulletproof glass that they seem to put up at night at the reception desk. Also noticed there is a 60 cent charge for the phone AND a $ 10 deposit need to use it.
Also, when they checked me in, they confirmed that I was in a non-​smoking room with a king bed. So I get my key and go to my assigned room and rind ash trays in the room and the smell of stale smoke and the «curtains» were ripped.
So I go back to the reception desk, and when I mention that it was a smoking room, the clerk seemed puzzled. Finally, after about five minutes, she finally puts me a in different room that was non-​smoking. Thankfully there was no smoke smell, the curtains in this room were not ripped and the room itself was clean (or at least seemed that way).
Now, I break out my laptop to try and get some work done and. .. you guessed it – NO internet service. No wired service, no wireless, no nothing.
I never really like Day Inn prior to this trip — and I have stayed in a handful of them — but this had to have been the worst location I’ve had the displeasure of staying in.
