Courtyard Washington, DC/Dupont Circle

–The pool was FREEZING. Get a heater for that thing.

Did not stay there. We stayed at Marriott Wardman, which did not have a laundry facility unless hotel staff did it ($$$$!!!). We walked several blocks to get to this Marriott and they were great about letting us use their laundry room. Very friendly and laundry room was clean. Next time I would stay at this hotel.

Customer service was excellent! Front desk employee «Shelina» was so professional and personable it was a pleasure seeing her face everyday. Room was very nice and clean. Only 1 out of our 2 day stay we had a problem with not having hot water. Later on during day, water was back to normal. I’d definitely visit again.

Great location. Check in was easy and fast. Room clean and relatively spacious. Have stayed there twice and would stay again.

Location is excellent. My view was great. The place was clean, but rooms were tiny. Plus, the bathroom hadn’t been updated. Also, the staff was hit and miss. Some were quite friendly. My last interaction was not. I was promised my receipt would be emailed to me. It wasn’t. Days later, I nicely called back to see if I could get a copy. The woman was annoyed and rude. For the rate I paid, it wasn’t worth the value.

I was a little wary before we checked in here because of the reviews I read. However, I had a feeling things would be okay when I walked in and the employees there were super friendly and nice. They were very accommodating and took care of us to get us checked in promptly. The room itself was clean. Yes, the restroom could use some paint touch ups and more counter space. The bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. I am also a stickler when it comes to shower water pressure and the it was almost like a power washer here, which I love haha!
For the value and location, I don’t think you can beat Courtyard Washington.

I am staying here because the Hilton across the street is fully booked for my conference.
The lobby is pretty tiny. The elevators only have numbers on one side of the elevator which is annoying.
My room is pretty small. It has a view of the street which I guess could be worse. The bathroom has 3 tiny weird shelves above the toilet. It’s not really convenient to keep anything at all in the bathroom. I even put my straightener on the toilet to heat up… felt kind of gross about that. Wish there was more counter space instead of just a standing sink and these tiny useless shelves. I’m having a problem with the air conditioner, I keep turning up the temperature because I’m freezing but it won’t change… so I keep turning off the air (but the maid keeps turning it back on). When I turn off the air, there is this constant banging sound and water dropping sound. It takes a while to get used to but it’s sooo annoying!!! Also, you can hear people coming in and leaving their rooms… walls to the hallway are suuuuper thin. I got woken up at 7am once because girls were talking in the hallway. Another day I got woken up early because the person above me was taking a shower. Another day I got woken up at 8:26 because the maid wanted to clean my room… even though checkout is 12pm! The TV only has like 10 channels too…
The maid keeps throwing out my soap and shampoo/​conditioners and giving me new ones. I don’t like having to reopen all of these things everyday and placing them on my sink.
There’s no pool here… I was pretty disappointed about that. There’s also no big welcome book here telling you all about the hotel’s amenities and what is around here. There’s a tiny book with like 4 pages but it gives no good information. Odd.
The location is convenient, as it is only a few blocks from Dupont Circle’s restaurants and the metro. That’s a plus.
Overall, this hotel is meh… kinda wish I was in the HIlton.

Pool is nice. Small, but nice outdoor space. The hotel does sell pool passes for residents in the neighborhood. So beware it’s not just hotel guests at the pool. And they have a guy grilling up burgers, dogs, chicken for lunch items in the pool/​outdoor area.
All in all a great stay at this hotel.

We stayed here for 4 nights. In a double bed room on the 3^rd floor the room was clean the beds were comfy. Wifi worked great. Within close proximity to lots of places to go and have a good time and you can jump on the metro a few blocks away really my only complaint was the showers water pressure was a joke but other than that we were happy with our stay and I’m sure we’ll be back again

Paid something like $ 110/​night for two doubles on the 9^th floor. Room was totally clean, wi-​fi was plenty fast, with no password.
I ate breakfast one morning at the little restaurant downstairs, American breakfast with two eggs over medium, sausage, home style potatoes and wheat toast. Got that and an ice cold diet pepsi for like $ 10. Stellar. Not sure why the place was empty.

Disgraceful.
Gets a lot of people from the Hilton across the street who are there for conferences or did not book a room in time to get in part of the room block there in time (like us). TINY bathrooms — miniscule, as you will find in some older hotels — but if they are set up to work OK, that can be fine. I’m not living in the bathroom, right? Well, there is NO WHERE to put anything besides my toothbrush.
So, you know how women have to travel and bring half of the world’s belongings with them, and that means dragging all of that into the bathroom in the morning, then back out in the room afterwards. It’s like living in a dorm again, and dragging your stuff to the bathroom down the hall.
If in the Dupont area (and this is really 4 blocks up from the Dupont Metro), go to the Courtyard Embassy Row on RI Ave.

I grew up tavelling all over, luckily because my mother was a travel agent. Now, in my adulthood, boyfriend and I are still avid travellers. With that being said, this was the worst hotel I’ve EVER been too. I was treated horribily from the moment I walked in.
This past Saturday night we were celebrating a friends 25^th birthday. The woman at the front desk greeted us with a cranky and insulting attitude. We chalked it up to her working the holiday weekend, which is no fun for anyone. So I let the rudeness slide. My friend had blind booked the room and ended up with two rooms with King size beds. We told the hotel staff immediately that we’d need a cot for each room — since we were going to have at least 3 people per room and they said they couldn’t move us. They quickly provided us with cots (which was great). We started getting ready for our night out. My boyfriend was watching the football game and clapped a few times. That was when we received the first phone call from the front desk. It was 9:17PM and we had received a noise complaint. We apologized, turned off the TV, and decided to head out for the night.
We (6 of us) returned around 3AM. As soon as we entered the room (not even 5 minutes later) we received a call from the front desk asking that my friend (who booked the rooms) to come down. We went down and they told us to remove everyone but the two people that were staying in each room. I tried explaining that we didn’t have only two people per room, that’s why we asked for the cots. The man I was speaking with immediately flipped out and turned to his co-​worker and told him to call the police. He said he was getting the police to come remove us from the hotel. It was the most ridiculous situation I have ever been in and the front desk wouldn’t hear us out. I went back up to our room and knocked on our neighbors door. I profusely apologized and told them we just got back, we were going to sleep and would be quiet — we just didn’t want to get kicked out. The neighbor just told me to «shut up» and slammed the door in my face.
We started packing our things. While doing so, three other rooms on our floor were in the hallway being obnoxiously loud (coming back from a night out like us). The Police came to escort us out and we asked how the hotel could kick us out after we received one warning. They wouldn’t respond and instead turned to the other rooms being loud and stated they would be back for them if they wouldn’t be quiet. The hotel (with valet parking) pulled up our cars and told us to leave. I asked for a refund, which in turn they laughed at. I asked what they expected us to do since we didn’t have money for another hotel room. They just told us to leave. I was dumbfounded, they knew we had been drinking and now they expected us to get in our cars and drive home (most of which was a 30 – 40 minute drive)? I told them they would be liable if someone got in an accident since they pulled our cars around and forced us to leave with them — they again, just laughed.
I have never been so horribily treated. I will never return to a Marriott again. What blows my mind the most, is the fact that this Courtyard Marriott was located right near Adams Morgan, once of the biggest «party» spots in DC. There were multiple groups of party-​goers on our floor and we were the ones that got kicked out. I’m not a big «party» person. I’ve been out in DC maybe 3 times and I’ve lived in Northern Virginia my whole life. Please heed my warning — if you are looking to stay here for a night after going out — DON’T DO IT.

I’m really not sure why this place doesn’t have better reviews, as my boyfriend and I had a great experience there this past weekend while we were visiting DC.
The price: I can’t fully comment on this, because we paid with credit card points, but we thought it was a decent value.
The staff: The staff ranged from fine to incredibly polite. One of the concierges was excitedly pointing everyone to the free cider and cookies laid out by the front desk, and when I moved in on the cider, she informed me that it was made «the old fashioned way» on a stove with mulling spices. The cider was really tasty, although the cookies were super overcooked the second day we had them. On the morning we checked out, our car was stuck in a garage nearby until 4pm when the garage opened, and the staff was nice as we hung out in the lobby waiting at around 3:15, providing a key for the restroom and bringing our bags out very quickly.
The room: It was slightly lighter on amenities than some I’ve stayed in (no microwave or mini-​fridge), but had many others you’d look for: TV, hair dryer, toiletries (Paul Mitchell no less), a small coffee machine. The hotel also has free wifi.
The bed: We had a king-​sized bed, which was really comfy, although the pillows weren’t the nicest I’ve ever slept on.
The bathroom: There were lots of towels, a hair dryer, shampoo/​conditioner/​lotion/​bar soap, and a shower with very high pressure water. No complaints.
The location: Given how expensive I would guess the downtown Courtyard is, I think this is a great location. It’s three short blocks to the Dupont Circle stop on the Red Line, which is a great way of getting into downtown (take it 3 stops to Gallery Place). One block further you can hop on the Dupont Circle/​Georgetown Circulator, a cheap ($ 1) site-​oriented metro bus that goes to a bunch of stops along Georgetown’s main drag.
Overall: I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, as long as the price was reasonable.

I stayed at this hotel because I was attending a conference across the street and I was too late to book there. The online negativity had me bracing to receive appropriate punishment for my slowness but I was pleasantly surprised.
The courtyard is a basic hotel — there are no pretensions of luxury here — but it’s a nice place. Bright, pleasant and scrupulously clean. Although I found the towels a little thin, I was pleasantly surprised to find paul mitchell toiletries available in the bathroom. I came expecting no internet in the room but found highly reliable and speedy wireless was available free of charge. I was initially disappointed that there was no room service, but quickly found out that I could order food from the Bistro, eat it there or bring it upstairs, and my meal was available within five minutes at a reasonable price. No exorbitant overcharging for in-​room dining or service to my room. There were also little treats like apple cider and cookies in the lobby, and free tea/​coffee in the business area in the morning.
Most pleasing, the staff here were always friendly and helpful. It may not be a luxury hotel, but the staff treat you like service is a top priority. I’ve paid a lot more for far less pleasant hotel stays in the past.
The only minor complaint I had was that I seemed to hear a lot of noise from the room next door. Its possible that my neighbours just liked slamming the hotel door.
The courtyard is located near some interesting shopping and in close proximity to the usual tourist sites. The distance between the Dupont Circle subway and the hotel seems long on the way there (uphill) but fast on the way back (downhill). If I was looking for a place for a comfortable business stay, I would definitely choose it again.

Had a nice stay here over Memorial Day weekend 2012 — clean and comfortable rooms, and the location was pretty convenient — easy walk to a slew of restaurants and hangouts in Dupont Circle.
I can see some of the criticisms below, though — we were on the Friends and Fam rate, and it was quite an ordeal to get all that sorted out. The Bistro was convenient to have, and the food was actually pretty good, but yes, the wait in the morning — you know, when people like to eat breakfast — was interminable for most of the menu items. The waitress actually told me not to order the eggs, because it would take too long. The pool and deck area are really nice, but if you are looking to go chill out there and read a book or have a few quiet drinks with friends, you run the ever-​present risk that screaming kids will rain on that parade. The Wi-​Fi in the lobby is free but incredibly slow.
Overall though, a convenient enough if not amazing place to stay. Good value for low $ 100s/​night, maybe not so much for some of the numbers prior reviewers mentioned.

As a frequent traveler, I’ve stayed in my fair share of hotels. This hotel was nothing special– my room look like it could be updated and the carpet looked kind of dingy. However, on the positive side, it’s within walking distance to the monuments and it’s in a great area full of restaurants, book shops, bars, and shops. I have a friend in D.C. who also assured me that this hotel is in a «very safe» area.
I stayed for three days but was only charged for one night of parking, which was either a mistake on the hotel’s part, or else a very friendly way of thanking their hotel patrons!
There’s a hotel on site– I ate there one night and it was pretty good. The food came in large portions and were easily shareable. They also offer room service, which can be a perfect ending to a long day at work.

Be prepared to wait 3 – 5 minutes every time you want to use the elevator here. Slow slow internet — really not worth it. Expensive parking and no mini fridge in rooms. The breakfast is not really a breakfast at all and the pool is tiny. That being said — it’s a decent location and you can usually get a decent price.

Rating a hotel is challenging, as it is all relative to the cost. I paid about $ 310+tax per night and was disappointed with the value.

— Pool was closed on May 3 when it was 85 degrees outside
— Gym is HORRIBLE. We’re talking a few outdated treadmills and one recumbent bike. NO free weights — the website lies. (Well, more specifically, there was one — only one, not one pair, one — weight which was adjustable. In other words, not usable, and even if there was a second, I’d be afraid to use that shaky adjustable weight).
— Marriott point program doesn’t compare with SPG

Decent «hotel» in a convenient location. Around 0.5 miles away from Dupoint Circle stop on the Red Line. Barely interacted with staff other than check-​in & check-​out. $ 28 for parking per day, kinda ridiculous and we found cheaper a couple of blocks away (but were too lazy to move).
Rooms are tiny, but at least our window didn’t look out into a wall or dumpster, etc. Bed was pretty big and comfy. TV had limited channels (no FoodTV, sadly). There is no mini-​fridge either.
Valet staff was helpful with helping us unload and giving us the trolley. After taxes + parking, it came out to around $ 110 per night. Pretty steep, but it is DC.
