When I moved to DC two years ago, I thought this was a great bank because the people
who work there are so friendly and helpful. The people still are, but I am really frustrated
that the bank is no longer open on Saturdays. I spoke with the terrific manager at the time
and got the impression that this was a corporate decision. Well, what isn’t a corporate
decision today? I asked why no consideration was given to perhaps having the bank open
on alternate Saturdays – this is a rather important location near Eastern Market where there
is a lot of traffic on Saturdays. Apparently corporate does’t care how inconvenient this is for
its customers. I find that I have to go to Columbia Heights where the Citi bank is open on
Saturday. I am increasingly wondering why I just don’t switch banks to use one of the surrounding banks that apparently are ALL open on Saturdays.

I feel like this branch is a local bank. The staff know me by name. They are kind and attentive. They even give great mortgage rates. I can’t stand citi on a macro level. Seriously hard to deal with. But the local branch is so good I won’t leave.

Citibank is a terrible bank. They charged me $ 8.00 for a foreign transaction fee to withdraw dollars in Ecuador… after telling me that this was a great bank for foreign ATMs… and that there would not be a charge. Better to find a local bank and not a chain.

It annoys me to no end that this place doesn’t have a real phone number, but rather some automated service like a corporate office. Additionally, because their website has so little information on it about individual branches, its nearly impossible to know if a specific bank has a service. Does this place have a notary? I guess we’ll never know!
