American Artisanal lines include Chocolat Moderne, Christopher Elbow, Lake Champlain, & Lillie Belle Farms. We also offer chocolate bars galore including Valrhona, Taza, Chuao, Theo, Vosges, Christopher Elbow, Chocolat Moderne, Scharffen Berger, El Ceibo, Neuhaus, among others. Our exclusive Small Batch House Truffles are a shop favorite. Made with a blend of European chocolate these delicate morsels look like true truffles plucked from the ground. Flavors include 70% Über, Dark & Decadent, Rum Coconut, Bailey’s Irish Cream, Traditional Dark, and Deep Milk. Get them while they last, because we do tend to run out of these bon bons!

History

Established in 1984.

We’re Francie and Ginger (better known as the Park Sisters) and we are the co-​owners and founders of Chocolate Chocolate. 1984 sounds like a long time ago, but fortunately for us, being around chocolate has kept us young at heart! As girls, we always loved chocolate, and after our father’s untimely death in 1979, we decided to ditch our conventional lifestyles and open a chocolate shop instead. We were so young, and everyone told us to play it safe, get real jobs and stop dreaming about chocolate. But the true chocoholics in us ignored the advice. Over thirty years later, we’re still living our dream! But now we have two of the coolest guys on the planet keeping our dream alive! Ginger’s husband, Skip, is the behind the scenes guy who runs the non-​chocolate side of our small business, and helps out in the shop. And if you’ve been to our shop then you know our shop manager, Koomo, the most famous chocolate barista in town!

Our memoir Chocolate Chocolate: The Story of Two Sisters, A Whole Lot of Sweets & the Little Shop That Could was published by Thomas Dunne/​St. Martin’s Press on April 26, 2011. We were being tourists in DC and need to find chocolates for a Christmas party we were attending that evening. Saw CC on Unilocal and the great reviews and decided to stop in. We were very pleased that we did.
The shop is relatively small in size, but huge on selection. They have any types of delicious chocolates you could imagine. They have plenty of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, truffles, chocolate covered this, chocolate covered that to please any sweet tooth. Swiss and Belgian chocolates are abundant here as well. You can mix and match the type of chocolate you like or you can buy pre-​packaged candy. We purchased a box of pre-​packed candy that looked like a Christmas present. Festive for a Christmas party. They also have plenty of Washington DC monuments in milk, dark or white chocolate. If chocolate is not your thing, they have gummy candy, jelly beans, mints, licorice and I believe sour patch type candy.
The staff here were extremely friendly. We told them what we were looking for and were quite helpful to point us in the right direction. They even have some chocolate covered pretzels out by the cash register for you to sample, which I happily did, 2 to 3 times (or was it 4).
Definitely a great place to find your gourmet chocolate needs!

Chocolate Chocolate made the favors for our wedding and they were absolutely amazing. Not only was the chocolate delicious, Ginger, the owner of the store was awesome. She responded immediately to any questions and was always incredibly friendly and helpful. I sent her a picture of a favor I found on the web and she not only reproduced it but made it even BETTER. She worked hard to find the exact materials to make what I was looking for in a favor, down to the perfect box, ribbon and bow. She was even nice enough to include notes we made for our guests inside the box. Everyone at the wedding also commented how delicious the chocolates were. The chocolate is wonderful-​its from all over the world and there is almost every flavor you could want. I doubt if you can go wrong with anything in the shop. I definitely will go there again.

I’ve been to Chocolate Chocolate a few times, and really like it. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have a good assortment of Taza chocolate, which is mainly why I stop in, but I’ve had some of the truffles too. Not only are they beautiful, they are tasty as well. I definitely recommend Chocolate Chocolate as a great place to get gifts and treats.

OMGAHHHHHH SOOOOO GOOD YOU GUYS!!!
My taste buds did somersaults as I bit into the beautiful passion fruit truffle — aaaahhhhh buttery outer layer encasing the passion fruit gelee like filling. Next I bit into one of the house made truffle which just made me regret I tasted it because it was soooo good I wanted to fly back to the shop and get some more LOL the coconut rum truffle is one of house made truffles which the owner highly recommended and so glad I bought it because this just kicks Bounty to the curb and crowns itself the best goshdarned coconut chocolate I ever tasted!!!
I asked the pretty delightful owner where the chocolates were from and she said all over — international chocolate from belgian to truffles made in Missouri. This little charming chocolate shop is uper cute and you wont be able to escape without buying a chocolate or two.
I’ll be dreaming of these truffles tonight! What diet?! :-P

A cozy little chocolate shoppe on a main thoroughfare is reasonably priced for absolutely delicious chocolates. The salted milk chocolate caramel, a general staple, is a gem here. Not overly rich, decadent but very well-​balanced. Could eat a pound of them for breakfast (it’s that good). Great for gifts, guilty pleasures, or treats — this is hands down the best chocolate shoppe in DC.

I love good chocolate shops, and Chocolate Chocolate has definitely made my return list. The man who assisted me was very helpful in selecting a box that would travel well back to Denver, and last until mid March (when my chocolate loving guest will be visiting… but I must admit that «someone» has already eaten three of the 18 chocolates in the box I bought.)
So, with only three out of 18 sampled, I’m ready to give this place the full five stars. I went with the box from Laderach, made in Geneva. The pieces are exceptional, beautifully presented, and traveled well. Can’t wait to share them (but those people better get here on time).

This is a jewel of a store for all Chocolate lovers! They carry incredibly good chocolate for all occasions at a price that is comparable to the competition.
They also carry my favorite brand Laderach — a must try for all :)
Their in-​house chocolate is good too. The employees are always ready to help and guide you if you need assistance :)

I received a box of chocolates from Chocolate Chocolate as a gift from one of our clients based in Washington, DC. The silver box of 15 chocolates, wrapped with a red bow, was sent from DC to Atlanta. It was a pleasant surprise. I ended up eating almost half the box by myself in my office, but resisted the urge to eat more so I could give away the rest for others to try.
The chocolates arrived in excellent condition. They looked great. They were presented in a 3×5 tray. Each chocolate was unique in its shape, flavor, and artistic design (e.g. color, drizzle, texture). Some of the chocolates were individually wrapped in colorful foil. Others had a ridged paper wrapping like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Some of the paper wrappings were hard to peel off because they had «ingrained» themselves into the sides of the chocolates. I blame that on the changing temperature conditions while the package was in transit.
Like other sampler boxes or tins, I wish Chocolate Chocolate’s gift boxes identified the different types of chocolate. Since there was no identification, each chocolate was a mystery and the flavors were a surprise. I’m not sure if that was intentional. I ended up looking up the flavors online and surmised I had received a «Nostalgic Collection» of chocolates inspired by chocolatiers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The Nostalgic chocolate assortment includes:

Cordial cherries
Vanilla caramels
Sea salt caramels
Peanut butter smoothies
Coconut clusters

Raisin clusters
The variety of flavors and consistencies was nice from smooth and velvety to chewy and sticky. The cordial cherries really pop in your mouth. The cashew and peanut clusters are nice and crunchy. The raisin clusters reminded me of Nestle Raisinettes, but bigger and more decadent. Overall, the chocolates were quite enjoyable and perfect for the holiday season.
I’m glad I was introduced to Chocolate Chocolate. If I’m ever in DC and on/​around Connecticut Ave, I’ll definitely have to check their shop out.

So I’ve never been to the storefront but after reading other reviews, I think I should get myself over there!
I’m writing this review because my firm held a morning seminar and reception for 130+ people at our office this past Wednesday. On the Friday before the seminar, my supervisors thought it would be fun to hand out DC themed chocolates to our guests as a parting gift (most of them were from out of town). Chocolate chocolate was able to take our order of 150 chocolates on Friday and deliver them individually wrapped in cellophane bags tied with a red, white, and blue ribbon on Tuesday.
The chocolates were beautiful. We ordered a variety of dark, milk, and white in the shape of the Capitol and they were brushed with some sort edible glittery gold. Our guests loved how they looked and thought they were delicious! Thank you!

Tiny little store but the chocolate is amazing. My favorite is the creamy dreamy. It is seriously a creamy little dreamy bite of hazelnut chocolate.
I also got the chocolate chocolate piece for my mom and she said it was hands down the best dark chocolate she has ever had… and she likes chocolate a lot.
I go here at least once a week. The people who work there are super friendly too and are always willing to help out if needed.

I’ve never met a candy I didn’t like at Chocolate Chocolate! As excellent as the candy (chocolate and other) is, the welcome-​home atmosphere is even better. I’m in D.C. only a couple of times a year and CC is a must. I’m always remembered and greeted with smiles, hugs and samples.

I never, ever write reviews for things or places, however I had to for this place! It’s small but quaint and the sisters Frances and Ginger Park are so sweet and adorable. The chocolates are delicious and beautiful. Be sure to check out Artisanal Collections especially Christopher Elbow. They’re so pretty I felt bad eating them!

The chocolate here is absolutely incredible. There are so many great brands that you can’t find at your neighborhood Safeway (or even Whole Foods)! Also, try the in-​house chocolate, which are melt-​in-​your-​mouth sublime. The prices are understandable for the quality of the chocolate, and I usually get a small piece or two if I’m feeling down.
I’m so glad that Chocolate Chocolate is a convenient stop on my way to the metro, and I suggest to stop by this great store if you’re in the area!

Hands down, this place has the best chocolate I’ve tried! For me, chocolate and coconut mixed together is simply heavenly. Knowing I’d been craving chocolate, the so very gracious boyfriend surprised me with an assortment of truffles, coconut clusters– milk and dark chocolate as well as the dark chocolate covered almonds from Chocolate Chocolate. I haven’t ever been a fan of dark chocolate… until now. I definitely see why the chocolate covered almonds is a house favorite. It’s delicious! The coconut clusters were wonderful, nice crunchy coconut covered in chocolate… yum!
Since it was a box of assortment, I figured I would nibble on about 2 every day and it would last me a while… but I was wrong. The entire box was gone in 2 days! Great place if you ever want to treat yourself :)

Yes, go here! A small, well-​kept store with an excellent candy selection and friendly, helpful staff. I walked by it for years without stopping in, and the mistake was mine.
What struck me first was that there is *more than* chocolate: for example, CC stocks those wonderful gummy raspberries and blackberries — the high-​quality version, not the icky dime-​store version. (Aficionados will know what I am taking about). Others have written about the chocolates, so I won’t bother repeating. But I will say this: CHOCOLATE-​DIPPED APRICOTS.
My second impression was that the people behind the counter seem to really LIKE working there. It makes sense that the chocolate business would be a happy business — yet places like Godiva seem to go in for snob appeal. CC has the tone of an old-​fashioned neighborhood confectionery and offers the fresh, high-​quality stock of the highbrow chocolate market.
A place like CC is not inexpensive, but the nice thing is that you can choose quality over quantity and buy just a little morsel or two. It’s also a joy to be extravagant, and I know where I’ll be doing some holiday, birthday, and Valentine’s Day shopping from now on!
Oh, and did I mention the CHOCOLATE-​DIPPED APRICOTS?!

it’s kind of bad that the store is located right below my work building, it means I can come in any time and get those bad boys.

I stumbled on this place as I was shopping in the area. I was so excited to find out that this was rated one of the best chocolate shops in D.C. — I left even more excited to try each of my little chocolate surprises. Since it was only me in town, my hubby was expected 3 day later, I tried to be selective. I wasn’t very successful though because I ended up buying nearly $ 25 worth of chocolates. Not sure I consider that a bad thing though.
I figured I’d nibble on a few and when he comes, we can enjoy the rest together. I ended up just having a few of them and then got so busy, the bag sat on my desk in the hotel for the next days. Here’s what I tried:
House Truffle — Divine and one of the best truffles I’ve had ! it had a dark chocolate ganache center with a generous dusting of cocoa. Usually the cocoa would be too bitter but it balanced the truffle out perfectly with the ganache. in two bites, gone! Glad I got two! =) I’ll save it for later…
Carmel with Sea Salt — this was one of my favorites. Sweet and salty… what a great combination. I knew this would be a favorite of mine and the hubbies so I got 3 in milk chocolate and 2 in dark chocolate. the one I had was great.
Almond bark — a house favorite so had to get this one as well. I had a few bites of this and reserved the rest for my hubby to enjoy. I’m a sucker for milk chocolate and nuts so I was all over this. It took everything in me to not eat the rest… I should’ve!
When he arrived at my hotel at midnight, the bag was nearly full. When I woke up, the bag was EMPTY with just one morsel left. I nearly strangled him.
Milk Chocolate English toffees — According to my husband, these were great. So much for him being a dark chocolate fan!
Other things that I wasn’t able to try but I hear were delicious were the Peanut clusters, Hazelnut truffles and a few others I can’t remember what I bought and he can’t remember what he devoured!
I look forward to my return trip back to D.C. so I can get another dose of Chocolate Chocolate. Service was fantastic and I thought the prices were reasonable. Next time, I won’t even be sharing with the hubby. He owes me big time! Definitely hit up this spot in D.C. if you enjoy great chocolate. I’m a big FAN!

I work right next door to Chocolate Chocolate and I’ve always been tempted to check it out. It’s actually quite a feat for me to pass by at least once a day for the last two months and not having stopped in until now. There I was sitting at my desk when all of a sudden, I developed a huge craving for dark chocolate. LivingSocial to the rescue! I always see daily instant deals on LivingSocial for Chocolate Chocolate. On this particular day, it was $ 10 for a box of 8 truffles. Done.
When I first walked in, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they sell Neuhaus chocolates which are my favorite in the entire world. Sadly, I couldn’t use the LivingSocial deal on Neuhaus truffles, but it was still a good deal when I saw how big the shop’s truffles were. The guy behind the counter was very patient in explaining the different 11 flavors to me. In the end, I walked out with pretty much one of each flavor except for the ones with alcohol (I don’t like alcohol in my chocolate).
The first one I tried when I got back to my desk was the blue cheese. I love blue cheese so I was curious to see what it would taste like with chocolate. Not good. The second one I tried was the hazelnut. The truffle filling was very heavy and had the texture of peanut butter. Somewhat better but not there yet. I still have 6 remaining but I’m not that enthusiastic about having to finish them. And that’s a huge statement from a chocolate addict.

Really nice little shop steps from Farragut North. And it really is little. The salesperson was friendly and helpful – I couldn’t decide between the peanut butter bomb or the peanut butter cup. Decisions! He described the merits of each and weighed in with his pick. Of course I was annoying and went against his advice.
They have a bunch of candy you can buy by the pound. But the real prizes are the huge assortment of unusually flavored truffles and other chocolate treats like the bombs, chocolate and toffee covered pretzels, and chocolate covered toffee with a nice dusting of almonds. They also have packaged gourmet chocolates including a lot of fair trade chocolates, Vosges bacon chocolate! and chocolate covered potato chips, which I had to try. I would’ve preferred less chocolate and more salty chippiness, but not bad as a novelty item.
Prices are comparable to other independent chocolate shops – expensive. But it’s a great place to pick up a present for someone truly deserving or a unique treat for yourself.
