Center For Neuromuscular & Massage Rehabilitation

I have been seeing Jon here since August for an issue with my hip and glutes. Since this was my first time having PT, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
What I particularly like about the center is that you work with one person for the whole time so you aren’t being shuffled around among therapists or told to do some reps and left to figure it out yourself… which I heard is pretty common at some PT places from friends and family. Instead, Jon spends the full session with me working on exercises, doing stretching and performing manual work. Jon’s ability to coach me through the exercises and make the necessary corrections and subtle shifts continues to wow me.
I felt welcomed from the moment I walked in thanks to the wonderful Tiffany at the front desk. She has been very helpful in sorting out the inevitable insurance questions and payment. Everyone at the center is focused on ensuring their clients make a safe and healthy recovery. Yes that means you are going to work hard and push yourself but that is why you are in PT! I highly recommend the center!

I’ve seen Brian for chiropracty for about two years and Jon for PT to address strength imbalances for several months. My experiences with both have been absolutely outstanding. A few things set them apart from other clinics:
1. They devote plenty of time to each client. I’ve been to other places where lots of people are going at once or appointments are only 15 minutes. CNMR sets aside an hour per client and provides time for warm up, massage, etc. (as indicated, of course) as well as time for questions.
2. They go out of their way to make sure clients get what they need. As I’ve prepared for and recovered from marathons, both Jon and Brian have made themselves available to treat me close to race day and to answer any questions or respond to emergencies.
3. They know what they’re talking about. I always feel like I get good, actionable information. And no one has ever tried to tell me that I can solve all my problems with juicing or vitamins – ever!
Finally, they’re just really nice people. I enjoy going to to sessions both because I get the therapy that I need and because I know that even if I’m sweating hard or hurting, I’m going to have a good conversation along the way.
The whole team is highly responsive. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Came in to see a therapist for my leg pain which turns out to be due to over sensitization of my sciatic nerve.
Appointments weren’t too bad to get, but I did need to wait a couple of days. I liked the fact that they sent appointment reminders via email. Plus they were in network with my health insurance :-)
I had an appointment with Andre Goldson a couple days ago, who I liked quite a bit. He made an effort to explain things to me and show me very descriptive pictures of what nerves look like lol. He also seemed very knowledgeable and made sure I understood everything we discussed.
The only thing I didn’t like was the facility, it was dark and cold :-(The individual sitting at the front desk, can’t remember her name, but she was very friendly.

I’ve dealt with pain from various health conditions and surgeries, and I’ve never had a PT as great as Jon. Jon has an incredible amount of knowledge about the body and how to work with complex and challenging issues. He is very thorough, explains everything very well, and takes time to answer questions. He definitely pushes me, but he always uses my feedback to guide how we move forward.
I have also seen the two chiropractors, Cara and Brian– they are both really fantastic. While I haven’t seen them as consistently as I’ve done PT, I have been extremely satisfied and think they are both excellent.
I have been completely happy with the services I’ve received and wouldn’t think of going anywhere else!

I recommend CNMR. I went for about five months for shoulder and leg rehab. Andre was my PT. He was great and reliable and very good at his job. I liked that each session was one on one. I’ve made great improvements after a bad accident and learned the drill to continue on my own. Glad to see all of the positive reviews on Unilocal

After going to 4 different physical therapists over the years for my lower back pain, I finally found a place that actually helped me! I’ve been to Andre for my lower back pain as well as shoulder pain. Both times, he helped me completely recover. Although my lower back pain has returned after pregnancy and sitting on my butt nursing for three months (clearly my fault). I was able to make a next day appointment with Andre.
Andre is the only physical therapist I’ve ever had that does methodical assessments at the initial visit and then at certain intervals, recording your range of motion each time to show you the difference. He also takes plenty of time to explain why the exercises help. This is really helpful for me because it helps me incorporate those principles into my own movements so that I can get better, quicker, and not aggravate my back. (I’ve actually had other therapists complain to me before about having to explain themselves).
To the reviewer who complained about it being in a basement… I think anyone who has experienced chronic pain over a number of years does not care one bit about what a place looks like or where it is so long as they can help you (but really, you can’t beat their location in Farragut). Before visiting CNMR I had just sort of accepted that my back was going to hurt forever. Now that I know I can actually be pain free, I would go to this place if their office was was just a cardboard shanty house.
Andre’s focus was on getting me pain free, discharged, and on with my life. I’ve been to many therapy centers where they want me to keep on coming back for months at a time, 3 times a week, without actually measuring or showing me my improvement.
When I changed jobs and had a choice of insurance plans, I actually specifically picked my plan so that CNMR was covered. They were the only provider I cared about enough to make sure they were in-​network.
Oh and the office staff is great. I’ve never had any issues and Tiffany is super sweet.

I have been seeing Andre, a physical therapist at CNMR, for 2 years off and on to be treated for knee and lower back pain. Andre is an excellent PT! He is wonderfully thorough with his exams and does a great job explaining the reasons behind the physical therapy exercises and mobilizations.
A few years ago, I began experiencing pain, instability and weakness in my knee. I had x-​rays and an MRI and nothing could reveal the source of the pain. I worked with Andre for 6 months strengthening my legs and glutes and the pain just went away. Two years later, my knee is still feeling great! Last year, I injured a nerve in my lower back. I sought acupuncture and chiropractic manipulations, but they did not help, so I went back to CNMR and began working with Andre again. Andre has worked with me to strengthen my legs and core as well as to learn nerve glides. The exercises have significantly improved my lower back pain. Although I still have more work to do to improve my sciatica, Andre’s guidance has put me on the right path for healing.
Additionally, the office is exceptionally well run! Anytime I call, I get through immediately. Tiffanee, the receptionist is very well organized; when I call to schedule or reschedule, she quickly accommodates and sends me a notification email right after I make a new appointment and a reminder email a day before the appointment occurs. I love CNMR’s email system, so efficient and helpful so I don’t miss an appointment!
I wholeheartedly recommend CNMR and especially Andre if you are need of a physical therapist!

I’ll start with the TL;DR version: I just can’t say enough good things about CNMR. CNMR’s physical therapists and staff will give you their undivided attention to use their skill and knowledge to help your recovery. Rehabilitation is approached as a doctor-​patient team, so you get out what you put in, but if you put the effort in and communicate with your physical therapist, the folks at CNMR will get you back on your feet again.
Longer version: I had an injury to my right posterior tibial tendon and it hurt to walk for more than a mile. Being a runner, this was really distressing to me. When my left knee started to hurt as well, I left the physical therapist I was currently seeing and went online to find another. I’m so glad I made that change. First, your appointment with your physical therapist at CNMR is your time alone. In other offices the PT just gives you exercises to do and attends to other patients or administrative matters while you do the exercises. Not so at CNMR. My PT, Jon, was constantly evaluating & re-​evaluating my movements, making corrections, talking with me to see if anything hurt or if there were any other sensations that should be noted. I worked with Jon for just about a year and this was true for every single session. He looks at your body as a system made up of interconnected and interdependent parts, which allowed us to make connections that others may have missed. We experimented with different tools & techniques including exercise, stretching, massage, icing/​ice massage, taping, and using a cho-​pat on my knee to see what worked best for me, and took extensive notes to keep track of my progress. He provided guidance for me to purchase new running shoes that would best support my feet and ankles, and with another professional (who has an impressive-​sounding title but I can’t recall it now; he designs and makes orthotics) to create custom orthotics that would work with the shoe and my feet. When I had trouble with my insurance company Jon worked with me to create a solution that worked for my recovery and my budget.
Jon has a passion and a dedication for learning and applying knowledge about the body and how it moves to help people, and his true commitment to his patients is evident in both how he runs the business and how he approaches his patients. I entered CNMR unable to run without pain, and 1 year later I’ve completed 2 triathlons and am training for 2 more and a half marathon. It wasn’t quick, and it wasn’t easy, but it was effective! I have acquired a great deal of knowledge and tools I can use to maintain my recovery, and I have no hesitation in CNMR recommending whole-​heartedly to anyone and everyone. I am a huge advocate for CNMR. I have been going there for about a year and they have absolutely made my life better. I have visited both Dr. Z & Jonathan for both upper and lower back problems. They gave me great exercises to do at home (and I actually do them) and are very supportive when problems arise. Thank goodness for CNMR!

CNMR = Results. I have been going to CNMR on and off for months and have seen several of the staff there for athletic injuries as well as more chronic back pain. I am no novice to PT, and CNMR staff are just so ridiculously far above average that I can’t imagine going to anyone else again. The range of services is wide, these people know what they are doing, they specialize, and you get RESULTS. In my case, they have successfully resolved very painful and stubborn plantar fasciitis, lower back pain, and more acute injuries that needed progressive physical therapy. They are committed to getting you back to functional levels and are great for athletes as well as folks just recovering from injuries/​surgery. Seriously, go here.

Came here in pain, I made an appt for medical massage, but instead of getting a massage I only got consultation. I asked if I was going to get a medical massage, and he said he would on the next appointment. WTF? SO I paid for a consulataion which was the same price as medical massage. This place needs to better tell their pateints that they are not getting treatment on the first visit. I wish I could get a refund.

CNMR was fantastic! I came in after over a year of Achilles problems and 2 misdiagnoses from other doctors. Andre correctly diagnosed me during my first appointment and gave me exercises and goals throughout my treatment period. I am now back to running and working out pain free in the timeline he gave me from the start. I highly recommend CNMR!

I have had a great experience at CNMR. I started seeing Andre last winter after suffering an injury that prevented me from exercising. I had seen a primary care physician that recommended i take ibuprofen and rest. This treatment plan did not at all solve my problem, so I decided to look into physical therapy, and was lucky to find CNMR through Unilocal.
From the first visit, I appreciated that Andre was really focused on determining the cause of my pain to design a holistic strengthening program that would get me active again AND prevent further injury. We’ve worked together over the past several months. I am now back to exercising at the same intensity I was used to before my injury. I couldn’t ask for a better result. All along the way, Andre has been extremely professional and thoughtful in all of my sessions.
Tiffanee also runs the office very efficiently. I never had any problem getting or canceling appointments or with my insurance. I’ve come to the end of my treatment plan, and I’m genuinely sad that I won’t be seeing Andre and Tiffanee anymore! I’ve certainly never felt that way about a PT place before. CNMR is great!

Go no farther, this is my one stop shop for my back and shoulder rehab. Cara makes great spinal adjustments and Paul has put my shoulder back on the track for a good recovery. The first session they ask a ton of questions to figure out what’s wrong, and in the next sessions they get to work. Overall I am very pleased!

I can’t begin to thank Dr. Cara for taking such good care of me during my vacation in DC. I already started feeling aches in my back but didn’t have time to tend to it prior to my arrival. I found the Center on Unilocal and made myself an appointment immediately.
During the course of an hour, she thoroughly evaluated my health, did an exam, helped me understand some of the preventative measures I could take to help the healing process and the best part of all, adjusted me, and gave me homework.
I’m so glad I went to visit her, without this visit, I don’t know how long I would’ve lasted in DC. Now, how does one transport her over to San Francisco?

I’ve been going to CNMR on and off for several years to help recover from an ACL tear, a torn meniscus in the same knee that happened a few years later, and, most recently, a sore lower back. I’ve got nothing but love for Jon Kula (the owner) and CNMR as a whole, and as someone who’s been to several different physical therapy practices in several different cities over the last decade, I highly highly recommend this place to anyone looking for treatment.
For the last year I’ve been working with Jon Kula to treat my knee and lower back. Jon is incredibly knowledgeable, patient and personable, and gives great explanations before, during and after each session. He’s also an honorable and committed small business owner who genuinely cares about and prioritizes his clients. (Prior to working with Jon, I was initially treated by Dr. Tim Vidale, who is an excellent therapist but unfortunately has since left to teach and I believe start his own practice.)
Another huge plus to CNMR is that the entire time you are with a therapist, it’s one-​on-​one, which is different from most other places I’ve been to where the therapists treat multiple patients at the same time.
Tiffanee at the front desk is always very responsive, helpful and friendly, and my somewhat limited experience with Barb (another therapist) was very good as well.
For toppers, the location is great — about ½ a block from either exit from the Farragut West metro stop on orange/​blue, and a short walk from Farragut North on red.

I have been going to see Dr. Brian for about a year and I’m satisfied. He spends a lot of time loosening up your muscles an back before he does the adjustment. He works extended hours (7am — 7pm), so I can go in before or after work. It’s in the basement of a building across the street from Farragut West metro stops. I think they offer massage and physical therapy, but I have only been to the chiropractor. I would recommend Dr. Brian Lancaster.

The entire staff is friendly and professional, and I have had nothing but a positive experience the last few months. Andre the therapist fixed many issues in my neck and upper back from a car accident. I feel like a new person! He really knows his stuff.

Physical therapist was fine but the (basement level) office smelled like mold and sweat and had no windows. The receptionist was rude (impatient and curt tone) and made a scheduling mistake with my appointment time.
Appointments were restricted to 60 minutes, which is something I have not encountered with insurance covered PT in the past. Despite what they tell you, this is not because of insurance company policy.

Great experience with Cari thus far, her vice-​grip like hands have broken up enough scar tissue on my knees to choke a mule, whatever that means.
Good for ART and other progressive therapy methods — friendly atmosphere as well.
