Capitol Concierge

I used them to pick a very fragile and valuable Green Bag Supreme Court Justice (Ginsburg) Bobblehead from George Mason law school and ship it to me. It arrived promptly, well-​protected, and intact. Will definitely continue using them as my proxy in DC when needed.

I am updating this review because the management really has made great strides in improving their operations of the property. What was a 1-​star last year, am now giving a provisional upgrade to 3-​star (so they dont think that they are quite done yet!). I am only speaking of McLean Gardens location. I dont know anything about their other properties.

I am writing this review — not based on any personal relationships — but rather on actual experiences as a «customer» of Capitol Concierge.
This company offers management services to a number of properties around the DC area. Living in one of those properties, I can say that the gross mismanagement is a serious problem at the senior levels.
Not all of the hourly conceirge desk employees are bad. Some are quite nice. However, they clearly have to answer to their higher-​ups when idiotic policies and practices have to be implemented.
The Executive Management team at CapCon (emphasis on CON) are incompetent and tone-​deaf to the complaints of residents. Whether it be security issues (no cameras despite many bike thefts, tire slashing, «car keying», etc) or implementing new greedy policies (how would you like your friends to pay $ 5 every time they came by to say hello? — and GOOD LUCK if you forgot your keys and locked yourself out! Don’t worry though you can catch some ZZZZs on the nearby bus bench while you try to figure out how you’re gonna get back in).
Don’t get me started with what seems like a daily power outage in the building. Back up generators my bum. Of course, the frequent fire alarms at 2am, 4am, 8pm, etc are a true joy. Happens once over the course of a year or so — ok. But this frequent? Tells me that the Exec Mgmt folks at CapCon don’t much care about proper systm maintenance. AND CALLING THE FIRE DEPT TO NOT COME AFTER AN ALARM… THAT’S PEACHY ESPECIALY WHEN PEOPLE ARE STUCK IN THEIR CARS IN THE GARAGE AND CAN’T GET OUT… IS A NICE TOUCH. Thanks Ms Ellis!!!
CapCon = complete lack of ethics, incompetence, «shadiness», tone deaf, and unprofessional.
I hope they get their act together soon! Incompetence can only be tolerated for so long. Many have reached their threshold of pain … enough is enough!
