Camden NoMa

This is the worst place I have ever lived. Three key problems make this apartment building a place to avoid.
1. Toxic odors and smoke from the heating system and construction. The building is partially under construction and the fresh air system pulls in all of the diesel fumes, smells from pouring concrete, welding etc. directly into our bedroom and has made us sick. We spend half of our time in the apartment concerned about whether or not we will have to go to a hotel for the night.
2. Constant construction noise. Starting at 7am every day during the week and almost every Saturday.
3. Unresponsive management. We have reported problems and while maintenance on your sink leaking is quick, larger problems are ignored.
There are other problems, like the location and the constant smell of marijuana in the elevators, but the constant odor and noise make it unlivable.

I just love it! And if you need maintenance, they are always on time, doing their job perfectly. Concierges are the best! Leasing office is awesome! Rooftop is great! What could be better?! I love our apartment and we have young single partying neighbors on one side, and a family with dog on another. We never hear none of them. The only thing which is sad for me is there are no baby playgrounds in the area. But before we were moving here, I knew that’s the new business area and there are lots of young professional, who don’t or just starting having families. But we have lots of dogs in our building and my son is crazy about them, what makes me happy.
And what is very important to me, management is very communicative. They send you emails with all the information you need to know. From construction updates to deliveries you have.

We’ve lived in Camden Noma for a year and a half now and we still love it! The staff is so friendly and helpful and the apartments are beautiful! Camden is a friendly community with awesome amenities!

My wife and I love Camden. I don’t what they make the walls out of, but we cannot hear our neighbors. We know there are dogs in the building, as it’s dog friendly, but you never hear them barking. Staff is wonderful, responsive and attentive. We are very glad we picked this place. Location could not be better either.

I give the building and it’s staff 5 stars… The only reason I take away a star is for the neighborhood around the building. You’re going to need to budget for constant Ubers or metro rides to get anywhere fun in the city… With that said the building is awesome… Maintenance takes care of problems within a day… Ashley and Lindsey in the office always take care of us… And the roof deck is awesome… I just wish they kept it open until 4am on the weekends… Nite cap yo.

We’ve lived here over a year now. We were in a one bedroom, that we loved, but we needed some more room so we moved into a two bedroom about a month ago. Love it! The view is beautiful. Our walk-​in closet is almost as though it’s another room.
The amenities are to die for. We have a rooftop pool with a number of grills available for us to use. There’s seating all around the roof and there are little nooks and crannies where you can curl up and read a book. And if you want to use your laptop or iPad, there’s Wi-​Fi.
The first floor has a number of amenities, too: two social lounges, gym and computer area. If you have pets, there’s a cute doggy area on the first floor as well.
Finally, I could go on and on about the staff. Everyone is super responsive and friendly. We haven’t had any maintenance needs yet, but I’d be surprise if we received anything less than the treatment we’ve been getting all along.
And the location? We’re close to two Red line Metro stops.

Like others, I have never lived in one of these large apartment buildings. We moved in about a month ago and I’ve been really happy about the pet friendliness — I have two dogs (originally from Vermont), so moving to the city was a big adjustment. Having a concierge to accept packages has also been extremely useful. You never have to worry about packages being taken. The whole building is extremely well-​kept and beautiful.
My two major complaints, which other reviewers have brought up are the smoking and noise. About a week after moving in I began having extreme trouble breathing (so much so that I had to go to the emergency room). While I am unsure of the exact cause, I later found out via email from management that they had become aware people were smoking on the premise. I was assured they are continuing to deal with this issue the best they can and hope that it does get resolved. My breathing issues seem to be getting better as well.
The second and more problematic issue has been the noise. While I have not heard any partying on weekends (we are on the 10^th floor) I have been dealing with a neighbor who is utilizing the surround sound at very late weeknight hours. The amplified bass and general noise has completely kept me from getting a decent night sleep, something I so badly needed after the stress of having to go to the emergency room. I even moved my bed to the alternate wall and have considered trying to sleep in the living room, but we don’t have a couch yet.
Calling the concierge is pointless and I had to resort to calling the police last night. I’ve also tried to contact the resident directly by letter explaining the Camden Community Policy, Lease Noise Provisions, and DC Noise regulations. Nothing seems to work. I’m just shocked that anyone could be so disrespectful and disappointed I can’t have a more friendly relationship with my neighbor. It is also bringing me terrible stress since I am not a confrontational person by nature. I am dealing with management on this issue currently and will update this review should they offer any meaningful solution.

We have now moved up to the 11^th floor, where we no longer have problems with noise outside the building entrance waking us up. The concierges are very nice, maintenance is completed very quickly after a request is placed, and the apartments are pretty nice. The only drawback is the smell in the hallways and the apartments; the air doesn’t seem to circulate very well. But everything else is great.

I love living camden nome and glad we make a great decision. The perfect people work in here, the leasing office, the concierge, the maintenance people, all of them are nice and responsible. The location is wonderful, close to noma and union station metro, and harries teeter, cvs and many nice café. The rooftop is also gorgerous, can enjoy bbq and the best view of this city:)

Camden Noma has surpassed all our expectations in every area. My husband and I moved in sight unseen, from across the country. Kate, who works in the leasing office helped us every step of the way: taking additional pictures of the apartment, answering every question throughly, and guiding us through the leasing process. They are very pet friendly and go above and beyond to make your animals feel at home. (I still haven’t figured out how it is that every one who works here has a way with dogs!) Although we found our home at Camden Noma, we never once felt pressured to make any decisions. Even over the phone, we felt welcomed and excited to be a part of this community… and that is exactly what it feels like.
Since moving in, we have only been more pleased. The staff here is genuine and seems to want people to enjoy living in the building. Our apartment was more beautiful and better quality than we expected. The attention to details in the design are fantastic! The common areas are stunningly beautiful, spacious, and clean. The concierges are friendly and helpful, the maintenance staff is through and timely, and the addtional staff at the leasing office have been incredibly helpful. We continue to enjoy positive interactions with everyone here. As we get to know the buildings residents, it is clear that it is not only the employees of Candem Noma that are exceptional, but the residents are as well!
If we could give Camden 6 stars, they would be well deserved!
