Description

Specialties

Budding Yogis was the first dedicated kids yoga studio in Washington DC, and we continue to provide mindful yoga for toddlers, kids and teens, plus family yoga, summer camps, birthday parties, workshops, and therapeutic yoga for kids with special needs. We aim to build healthy bodies and minds in a joyful, non-competitive setting, where kids can interact and learn tools for relaxation and well-being, and have fun in the process!

Twice a year, we offer the Budding Yogis Teaching Yoga to Kids Certification Program for adults who are interested in learning how to teach yoga to kids or deepen their own family practice.

Our partner adult studio, Circle Yoga, also provides prenatal yoga classes, along with infant yoga and massage, and mindful parenting workshops for busy families looking to focus on their deepest intentions towards self and each other.

History

Established in 2003.

Following the events of September 11, 2001, Annie Mahon knew she had a role to play in bringing a sense of inner peace to children and families in Washington, DC. After sharing the practices of mindfulness, conflict resolution, and yoga with children through the DC public schools for two years, Annie wanted to locate her programs in a safe, welcoming space, and so founded Budding Yogis on Northampton Street in 2003. Soon after, Linda Feldman joined and together they created a place where kids could relax, practice yoga, and just be — and where everyone would be welcome, regardless of age, physical condition, or previous knowledge about yoga.

Today, the studio is the center of a warm, welcoming community of students, teachers and families who come together to take classes, connect with others, or simply hang out and just be.
