Brookland-CUA Metro Station

They have shuttles to the VA and washington hospital center right outside so it’s easy enough to get to the hospitals from here.
Also they have a bathroom.
Unfortunately the Red line takes forever on the weekends

I lived in the neighborhood for three years before moving to California. It was fairly convenient as it’s a 15 minute ride into downtown and you can also get to Silver Spring and Friendship Heights. My complaint would be (as with all metro lines) that they only run every 20 minutes on the weekends… and sometimes less. It surprised me in 2012 how many times the tracks were shut down for repair. The red line seems to get hit the most for repairs. Sometimes during the weekends you’ll watch your wait time fluctuate to being 5 – 10 minutes longer than planned. Just keep your eye out… but it’s a metro stop worth using!

This red line stop will soon be busier when all the construction of shopping and food eateries are complete. Finally, the city is coming into this NE neighborhood. It will be a nice addition to «Little Rome.»

I had to get off the Metro to avoid a creep and felt safe here. I’m guessing this station is why I wasn’t mugged or assaulted during my trip in DC, but, at a mimimum, it’s well lit.

I don’t often feel a need to review something like an individual Metro Station. But the other night I found myself out at Brookland-​CUA metro to meet a group of people for some late night tromping around and beer drinking – however, there would be no bathrooms in sight and I had to pee already when I got there.
After looking around a bit and realizing there were NO good duck-​n-​cover spots for a quick pee outside (not to mention any businesses nearby where I could use their bathrooms) where we were I decided to just bite the bullet and tell some kind of tall tale of emergency to the metro station guy and see if I couldn’t sweet talk my way into the staff bathroom.
Lo and behold, I am but a few words into my tale of woe when he stops me and says, there is a customer bathroom right over there, through that door and down the hall.
what? What? WHAT!!!
Hot diggity! And not only did they have an actual customer bathroom, it was fairly clean!!!
It isn’t often Metro surprises and pleases me these days, so as soon as I was done I thought to myself «I need to write up a review for these guys to say thanks!»
So if you find yourself with a full bladder and headed toward Catholic land on the Red Line, just know that salvation is there for you without having to sell your soul to get it!
