My experience with Dr. Brian Davis was enjoyable. Yes I am saying this about having a root canal. There was NO PAIN… I mean no PAIN… He was very professional and explained the procedure every step of the way. The entire staff was professionals and very comforting. After the numbness wore off there was no pain. I was referred to Dr. Davis by my general dentist she gave him high marks and he met and passed the expectations. If you are looking for an endodontists please go to Dr. Brian Davis. Excellent bed side manners too. Sharon J.

Dr Davis was amazing. I had to have my first root canal and my expectations of pain and discomfort were never met (and I mean that in a good way).

I wouldn’t get a root canal from anyone else. :) His assistant Maria is wonderful too. The only thing I would change are the chairs. The head rest could use a pillow.

I was referred to Dr. Fonseca’s office by my primary dentist for a crack in my tooth. When I arrived to the office for a consult, I admired chatting with all of the staff at the front desk. Very friendly and personable!
My experience was with Dr. Davis. Let me just say that I had a very positive & professional experience getting a root canal for the first time. Who has fun at the dentist, the place that takes all of your money to keep your teeth healthy and looking nice? Besides Dr. Davis being a McDreamy (not hard on the eyes at all) was so kind and very humorous. Needless to say, that I was terrified and ended up having a pain free root canal. I didn’t even feel the three needles that I received to numb the area.
I highly recommend Dr. Davis. He explained the process, listened to me whining about the pain I thought I would feel and ended up having to work extra hard on my tooth when he found out I have four canals instead of the normal three. He worked smart and not hard to restore my tooth. He insisted on making it perfect by taking several X-​rays after he repaired the tooth to ensure that everything was in tact. I learned something new about myself today as it related to my four canals!
I hope I never have to get another root canal again but if by chance I do, I won’t hesitate to call Dr. Davis for a visit. Check him out, you won’t be disappointed :-)

Dr Davis was gentle, compassionate, and interested in my comfort. He did an excellent job on a difficult root canal on my top rear molar. He was efficient too, completing the entire process from nova ain’t to sending me home in just an hour. He used a bite block so my jaw didn’t wear out, and one of those tooth aprons so there was little need for the painful suction wand. His assistant was really responsive and efficient too. Happy to return anytime. Highly recommend as a concerned professional.

Dr. Davis was phenomenal. His expertise and bedside manner made a tough appointment fly by. He was gentle, understanding, and attentive. The quality of his dental work was on par with his fantastic bedside manner. Highly recommend.

After two years of problems related to a poorly done root canal at Presidential Dental in DC, I came to Dr. Davis and immediately felt comfortable. I was very fortunate to have Dr. Davis recently perform my root canal. I am normally very nervous about going to dentists and getting needles. He took the time to talk to me and calm me down. He has a kind and personable manner when dealing with his patients. I overheard him talking to another patient and this kind and calming manner was also present. He is an excellent endodontist who carefully checks his work. My tooth is doing fine. I highly recommend Dr. Davis. I was so nervous before this procedure — I was so afraid of something going wrong. It was almost like an angel picked him for me.

If you are possibly thinking about getting a root canal, run far, far away from Dr. Davis. Perhaps out of state.
The setup: I’m having pain in my back top molar, my regular dentist refers me to an endodontist, and I find Dr. Davis’s name on a list from my insurance company. So far, so good. But during the consult he springs so many awful things on me: all my wisdom teeth need to come out (one of them is pressing against the root of the molar, thus the pain), then, if I’m lucky, I can have a root canal (if I’m not lucky: extraction), oh, and did I know that I grind my teeth? Something will clearly need to be done about that, too. (My regular dentist said this last diagnosis was bullshit, so who knows what he was trying to do there.) And all of this was said to me with the patience and compassion of an automaton who could not understand why hearing all of this at once might possibly be upsetting.
Ok, fine, I got the wisdom teeth out, and I’m lucky, so I get a root canal. I show up for the appointment, wait an interminably long time in the waiting room, finally get shown to the back and have the Novocaine administered. And then I wait. And wait. And wait. I’m waiting so long that I’m freaked out the Novocaine is going to wear off. I’m waiting so long that I finally tell myself that he has five minutes to reappear before I grab my stuff and leave. (And let me tell you, I’m normally a very patient person, loathe to make a scene.) But he does appear, being gruff and monosyllabic as normal (it turned out they had double-​booked appointments, so I guess we all had to pay the price for that), and thus commences what was probably some of the most unpleasant hours of my life. My jaw was stretched open so uncomfortably, for so long, that at one point, my eyes started tearing up. Dr. Davis said this was because the tooth was so far in the back and hard to get to. And then he proceeded to try to stretch my mouth open wider. (Let me tell you, having now done another root canal — don’t ask — on the back top molar on the other side, this claim is a complete fabrication. The other endodontist was able to give me a plastic grip to bite down on, allowing my jaw to completely relax and making the experience totally different from what I got from Dr. Davis.) After the root canal with Dr. Davis, my jaw was really sore for at least four or five days.
But at least I’m done now, right? Unfortunately, no. I had to go back for the follow-​up appointment, which was scheduled for 8 in the morning. (I’m a busy person with a job — I just want to get in and then be on my way so I can get to work.) Well, yet again, I’m in the waiting room for a while, so long that I finally ask if he’s running late with other patients, which might possibly explain why they haven’t called me back yet. No, the reply is that he doesn’t normally get to the office until around 8:15 (which has already gone by). Why, then, you might ask, do they schedule appointments for times when he’s not actually in the building? Because, of course, I came to see, my time is not actually that important. (And, of course, during this appointment, after he finally shows up, he continues to press the claim that I grind my teeth. Sigh.) Thank God I will never have to go back.

In June of 2013 I had Brian Davis perform a root canal, which was singularly the most painful oral procedure I have ever encountered. Since then, the tooth has never really felt right and has had two subsequent infections. This weekend, pain started again and I saw another dentist. He was able to take x-​rays and show me exactly why the tooth continued to have problems and it had everything to do with the original root canal and what amounts to questionable dentistry. This afternoon I get to go back and have the entire procedure redone, basically now I get to pay again with pain, inconvenience and of course, another $ 1,000 I am sure.
Nice fellow, no question. Quality of care, huge question.

Dr. Davis is the most professional, capable, and considerate endodontist that you will find in the DC area. He has treated me for three root canal procedures (on separate visits). Each time, he and his great team — Marie, Kevin, and Katarina — immediately worked me into their packed schedule. I received such great personal treatment, which was especially amazing on a last-​minute basis in downtown DC. They truly empathized with the pain I’d had before getting treatment. They all are true professionals, and they make the office such a pleasant, friendly environment.
During and after each procedure, I experience absolutely no pain and resumed a normal routine upon leaving the office. Significantly, Dr. Davis’s utter knowledge of all-​things-​dental is beyond comparison. He will not undertake a procedure unless it is necessary (unlike others who may just want your business), but when it is necessary, there is no one better to give you dental care.

My experience with Dr. Davis and his office was not good. A root canal is already an unpleasant experience, but he and his staff made it even worse. I can’t speak to his technical ability as a doctor – after the root canal, my tooth is still sensitive – but apparently, that can be normal. But I can say that his bedside manner, compassion, courtesy, and timeliness leave a lot to be desired. I went to Dr. Davis after I had 3 days of unbearable pain in the right side of my face. The pain was not specific to any particular tooth, so when he told me I needed a root canal, I asked why I wasn’t feeling the pain in that tooth, what a root canal was, what the risks were, etc. Despite asking these questions several times, he just demanded I needed a root canal and handed me a pamphlet. I certainly didn’t get the impression he was listening to my symptoms or concerned for my health or comfort. The root canal ended up taking 2 appointments – one month apart! That meant for 1 month I was in pain and eating nothing but soft foods. During the first appointment I was in so much pain during the procedure I was flinching and actually started to cry. I’m not saying the pain was his fault, but he just complained about me flinching and didn’t stop. Finally when the pain became unbearable he stopped and said we’d have to finish another time. Well they then cancelled the next appointment, 1 hour ahead of time, with no explanation and no apology and couldn’t give me another appointment until a full month had passed since they had started. Overall, his office staff was unpleasant and acted like I was inconveniencing them, it took far too long to get an appointment, and I had the impression I was on a root canal assembly line – no patient is unique or deserves individualized treatment, compassion, or deserves to understand their treatment.

Dr. Davis is the best. I was referred to him by another dentist for two root canals. I didn’t even need an aspirin after the procedure. When the referring dentist turned out to be a dud, I went back to Dr. Davis to discuss my problems, and he was kind and listened to my problems and referred me to another dentist. Dr. Davis gets my highest recommendation — my complete trust.

Excellent! I had a 12 year old root canal that got infected, last week, I was in a lot of pain. I was referred to another dentist at this practice, but she was out on vacation, so I got Dr. Davis. I am so GLAD that I did. From the first vist, and he fit me in an already busy day, for a consult! He told me the problem, looked at xrays, and what my treatment options were. That was the first visit. The second one, he tried for a redo of the root canal, and to save the crown. He called in the bone specialist at the practice to also evaluate me. They both concurred that the old root canal was a goner at this point! Then, Dr. Davis suggested that I have the whole tooth removed, and he personally called an oral surgeon recommendation who was right across the street to see if he could take me right away. He said they needed to get that tooth out, the sooner, the better for me. The surgeon was able to fit me in. Dr. Davis wrote some follow up stuff for the surgeon, and I was on my way to the surgeon’s office. Dr. Davis really went above and beyond to get me into a surgeon the same day. I’m grateful! I’ll have to do a review of the surgeon next, but for any endo work that needs to be done, I HIGHLY recommend that you go see Dr. Brian C Davis!!! In fact, I insist!!! 8)
