Came here on 1/​31, obviously manager not around or highly dysfunctional. We arrived for a late dinner — 8ish on a Sunday. No hostess up front initially, once seated not sure anyone was assigned our table. We were right by server computer so hard to miss us. Just downhill from there… spacey staff that was constantly disappearing in the back (place was ¹⁄₃ full). Bartender and serving staff highly engaged with one another (instead of with guests) as other couples walk in and seat themselves since hostess was gone again and went unserved since no one bothered to check in with them. It was such poor service we almost signed the place up for one of those undercover restaurant shows… really unacceptable for the location and price of food. Food was just meh /​just had tapas so cannot weigh in on larger dishes. I’d recommend to keep walking… sad because this could be a clear winner for area but needs a staff overhaul and menu refresh.

Ok is Georgetown and is more expensive. The place is very good inside like locations. The service is really not good, nothing disappointed but see all staff seat at one table talking, a lot of thing dropped on the floor on the BOH, the runners does not know where deliver the food… little thing but important for run a good restaurant.
The food was ok. Cheeseboard so good, salmon was dry, chorizo was ok .
Like i said, this place is very beautiful, they just need to follow up with the staff to be more attentive and is really no nice see staff talking around a table. Not in America, not in a fancy place .

Great meal. Calamari was just OK. Garlic shrimp and steak were great. I would ready there again.

This was a real bummer. We came in for happy hour and the small bar was full. We were told we could have happy hour at a table and then when we sat down we were then told that we couldn’t get the happy hour pricing. We stayed anyway.
My sangria tasted like old flat two dollar wine that they threw some fruit into to make it 8 $.
The bacon wrapped dates and chicken skewers were fine. But not worth the price we paid and something I Could probably do on my own.
The service was timely… But awful. One member of our party walked in late as we were ordering drinks and the waiter awkwardly stood there as she told him multiple times that she would need some time to decide. He did that multiple times and at first I felt guilty not knowing what to order, but then it got annoying. I was desperate to leave after one drink.

This was a perfect spot for happy hour! The décor is beautiful, the service was good and the drinks were made just right.

Whoever thinks this place has anything authentic Spanish has a very loose concept of what Spain and Spanish food is: pinchos and tapas are offered without bread (bread is essential to eat pinchos and tapas!), white wine sangria (what??) and mojitos (not spanish at all) are on the menu, latin music (sorry, Latin American and Mexican music is fine but it is NOT Spanish music), the chistorra on the menu is not chistorra but spicy sausage, the Tabla de Charcutería con Aceitunas includes something called Chorizón (I’m a native spaniard and had never heard of such thing before), the Papatas Bravas are covered in Ali-​Oli when they sould be covered ONLY with a light spicy tomato sauce…
Service staff, Spanish-​speaking though not from Spain (and they do not know much about Spanish cuisine), is appalling. The waiter was using the phone while I tried to call his attention for over two minutes.
The space is nice, elegant, and somewhat sophisticated, so thumbs up for the designers (the bar stools could be a bit more separated from the bar). If what you are looking for is a nice space by all means go, otherwise avoid this place!

Nice service but really that’s about it.
The food was less than mediocre and not very fresh, too bad as the location is great. The place feels a little gloomy.
We paid good money for food we did not enjoy, what made the experience worst was the roach lurking behind me on the wall while I was sitting there trying to eat my food in darkness. Not a pleasant experience.

Visited this tapas place in Georgetown over the Thanksgiving holiday. I loved the atmosphere. Very warm and cozy. Our party was greeted and seated immediately, even though it was pretty busy.
Of course, we ordered a variety of items to share. The Ensalada de Peras y Nueces was a fantastic salad with walnuts, goat cheese, and pears topped with a honey vinaigrette. It was amazing and I would recommend this. The green beans with almonds and grilled mushrooms were average. We really enjoyed the sauteed shrimp. However, the fried calamari was just okay. The bacon wrapped dates were very good and were handled accordingly. The crispy potatoes were just the crispy potatoes. The salmon with olives and capers was decent and I’d order that again.
Service was good and food came out quickly and as it was prepared, so there was not particular order in which the food came out. We did request that the music in our little area be lowered because we literally could not hear each other at the table. They kindly obliged.
BUTT (yes, with two «t“s), I left my phone on table and when I came back for it twenty minutes later, it was gone. You see, we were the last table to leave in our little area and so it couldn’t have been a patron that took my phone. That leaves a staff member. Really? Who does that? Person, I have this to say: You (*&^%$#@!*&&^* and I hope your (*^$#(*^@$*&%! falls off.

Mediocre food… Food is better than the service
Location is great, interior is nice, but that’s about all it has going for it.

We only had a small snack but it was delicious! Gambas (shrimp in olive oil and garlic) are standard at tapas restaurants, and these were awesome. We licked every last drop of sauce out of the dish. The goat cheese on toast was also really nice and something I would eat again. I had the hibiscus margarita which was sweet but enjoyable and tasted like a margarita. Would like to go back and try the brunch. Reservations recommended.

Very mediocre tapas bar. There are far better options in the city if you want authentic Spanish cuisine. Not the worst food in the world, just not amazing. If you’re out in Georgetown, this is a good place to grab sangria. They have a nice outdoor patio which is great when the weather is warm.

Still haven’t had luck finding a good paella in DC. While Bodega is a beautiful space with a fantastic tapas menu, the service was unexceptional and the paella, largely unpalatable.
Stopped by on a mid-​Saturday with early dinner intentions, and we were seated immediately. The restaurant was inviting, black-​painted brick and banquettes buried in alcoves contributed to a cellar-​like feel. Every time the front door opened, a smoky waft was expelled from the kitchen through the restaurant to combat the cold air. Expectations were high when our server finally arrived at the table.
We ordered several tapas, a round of cocktails, and two orders of paella – one, a seafood medley, and second, the Valenciana. The sangria was acceptable and the bartender mixed a good martini. The Cucumber Collins on the cocktail list could stand to be run through a cocktail strainer a few times. The use of a straw was impossible with the highball tumbler half-​filled with cucumber pulp. We loved our tapas selection: grilled octopus, boquerones, croquettes, and tortilla. Each small plate was perfectly seasoned and beautifully plated. The same could not be said for our orders of paella.
Each paella was woefully under-​seasoned and bone dry. As a group, we ate more of the seafood paella despite flavorless chunks of monkfish and rock-​hard shrimp stirred throughout. The Valenciana paella went nearly uneaten, though no server or manager checked on us after the food was dropped off. One in our party best described the dishes as ‘okay rice medleys, but certainly not paella.’ We eventually got our water refilled and switched from cocktails to wine, but by the time we received our drinks, we had forgotten we ordered another round.
The ambiance and tapas were five star features and enough for us to give it another shot, but the service [or lack, thereof] was as disappointing as $ 80 worth of insipid paella.

So I was looking for something small to eat. We looked up this place and decided to come and eat here for lunch. Now I wasn’t very hungry so I just got the Croquetas de Pollo which btw are amazing. I got it with a side of their white Ali oli. Now they have two (I wish they would’ve told me cuz they brought me the red one which is spicy.)
I give it a 3 star because the service isn’t that great for what your paying, location and how the restaurant looks. The server doesn’t seem confident when he talked.

Before coming to this spot took the time to look up happy hour specials online. The website has a happy hour menu with drink and finger food specials. Walked and apparently I was speaking French because no one knew what I was referring to when I asked about ‘happy hour’. We were seated at a table and when we asked the hostess about specials said «the menu online is wrong and that they didn’t have a hour menu». After trying to ask her more questions she rudely says «let me get your server «. So the server come over and I ask him about happy hour prices quoted online and he says «they are only available for those seated at the bar». It would’ve been nice if this were stated on the website but the main issues is why didn’t the hostess know they had a happy hour?
So to clarify folks happy hour prices are true indeed but only available if you sit at the bar, a pitcher of sangria is $ 18, opposed to $ 26 and they have finger foods for $ 3 (fries chicken tenderloins, bread with goat cheese and honey, and some other items, just ask hopefully one of the bartenders will know). One star because the sangria was above par but the initial service unsatisfactory. I’d only eat at the bar because apparently that’s where you’ll get good service.

I came here on a recommendation of some friends. They shared stories about how much they loved this place, the food, the drinks, the atmosphere…
My friend and I stopped in here for dinner on our last night in DC. We sat outside on their patio area. They were able to seat us right away. Wine and food… I mean there’s not a whole lot of ways to go wrong with that. While the food was good, I wasn’t necessarily moved by any particular dish. The service was a bit slow, but the atmosphere was lovely, and the staff was friendly. With so many good places in DC I would come here on a week night with friends, but if you are in the area for a short time, I would maybe skip this one.

Bodega is an opulent, Old-​World spot for home-​style tapas. The space is far more luxurious than the food coming out of its kitchen, not necessarily a good or bad thing, just something we noted. The flavors of the small plates were rustic in comparison to the restaurant’s damask walls and numerous bronze fixtures. It felt more like we were getting dishes from a cheery grandmother than a sophisticated Georgetown dining establishment.
We ordered the French green beans (also known as haricot vert) with almonds, sautéed cod filet over león lentils, and seared octopus with potatoes. And I got a glass of white sangria while he got the red.
We probably enjoyed the octopus most of all, as it was tender and very flavorful, though it could have been a little less salty. The green beans, while perfectly cooked and tossed with plenty of fried garlic (mmmm), were a tad underseasoned. And the cod also could have benefited from more aggressive seasoning. Still, we’d say the food here is good because it’s not as cookie cutter as some area tapa chains’ renditions. We have a feeling like the seasoning of the day depends somewhat on the chef’s whim. Oddly, this is somewhat comforting. So consistency you may not find, but you’ll still get fresh ingredients and authentic Spanish tapas. Though not as delicious as some of the tapas places we tried in Spain, Bodega is probably the most reminiscent of what we sampled during our short stay in Andalucia.
Bodega is a classy yet comfortable spot for enjoying some wine and small bites. Take your date here, or catch up with friends here.

The times I have been here have always been evenings, walking around Georgetown, and looking for something small, light, but tasty and unique. This always hits the spot for that purpose. You can walk in and know that you’ll have something decent and great beverage choices.
I am not often imbibing, but the cocktail list they have here is enchantingly impressive. The wine list is pretty fair. This all makes sense for a restaurant in Gtown.
The décor is likely the most interesting part of the experience. The dark red and black color scheme adds a seductive vibe to your evening, just as many other Unilocalers noted. However, I wonder if the lighting in the late evening could be more inviting and warm by turning it down…
The food is decent but nothing to write home about. I like paella, but the dish is huge — so, be ready to take some home, or as suggested, share with your entire table! Other than the salads and soups (gazpacho!), it’s really just a selection of tapas. Who doesn’t love picking a couple dishes instead of a large entrée? Well, I do. So, I can happily attest to the simple bold flavors with the French green beans with almonds (Judías Verdes Finas Salteadas con Almendra) and the Seasonal mushrooms (Setas a la Plancha) sea salted and olive oil sautéed. Bread at your table is good for those of you who like that accompaniment. Piquillo peppers are also a nice beta-​carotene filled choice, and olives, of course.
The staff is knowledgeable about ingredients if you have specific questions or dietary restrictions. Don’t eat the spinach if you don’t eat chicken/​consume chicken broth.
Overall, the times I’ve been here have worked out well for a light snack to match lighthearted commitments to eating.

Came here for lunch with a coworker. The place feels a lot nicer than I expected from the signage, though I was amused by the very fake-​looking fake fireplace. Still, nice place to sit for an hour!
I got a lunchbox with the salad, patatas bravas, and croquettas. Each piece was simple. The salad was lettuce with thick cheese shavings and dressing; the patatas bravas a dozen or so small cuts of potato with a couple of sauces drizzled over; and the croquettas four fried, gooey orbs. Nothing blew my mind, but it was all fine. Some tasty bites when the right combos hit!
The lunchbox also came with a couple slices of cheese and 4 pickled things (olives, garlic), as well as some bread and oil. So for $ 13, it wasn’t too bad. I left satisfied and curious to try their other things. Hopefully spicier things!
I’m not sure I’d come back here for dinner and pay dinner prices, but I’d happily come back for lunch.

3.5 star for brunch.
I didn’t really think this is a place for brunch, but my friends out of town picked it so I thought I’d check it out for brunch. Their brunch menu was pretty limited, but the quality is decent. We had the eggs bodega, eggs maryland, steak and egg, madrid omelet, and some hot tapa dishes (Gambas al Ajillo-​shrimp in garlic sauce, honey goat cheese, and some fried chicken dish that I can’t remember the name of). We liked our food in general, but not wowed by most of their dishes, unfortunately. I had the red wine sangria as well, but unlike the sangria I usually get from happy hour, I didn’t get much fruit in my drink… and the ones I got were only small cubes of apples. Didn’t taste as good as peaches and oranges :(
The highlight of our meal was the live guitar and dance performance.
I think their brunch is overpriced with mediocre quality. Think I’ll pass.

3.5 so I’ll round up. I came for lunch today and THANK YOU FOR SERVING LUNCH FOOD. (resisting urge to rant against brunch). Their outdoor patio was ‘not open yet’ which was a bit of a bummer but on to the food:
–gambas: yuuum. Flavorful and good amount of shrimp. They were all small, but the amount makes up for it aaand — no tails! Thank you. I know the tails are pretty, but I appreciate being able to just eat what I ordered
–croquettas: Surprisingly flavorful and plentiful. I love croquettas in general and these passed my bar.
–patatas bravas: more like patatas weakas. More spice please.
–pan con tomate y jamon: good for sure, but I wish they would offer a or another means of getting that tasty jamon
We also over ordered. 2 per person with the serving sizes they have was sufficient, sooo, I recommend coming with more people to have more food :)

Food was great! (I am Spanish so I know about it). We ordered:

–albondigas
Good food and not expensive

Tapas muy sabrosas acompañadas de buen vino. Mi esposo y yo ordenamos la bandeja de queso Manchego y jamon serrano, gambas al ajillo, ensalada de remolacha con queso de cabra y nueces y el arroz meloso de calamares en su tinta. Es necesario reservar. Me gusto mas sentarme en la barra que en una mesa.

Food: Good! I went there after a Bachelorette Cupcake Crawl and the 8 of us each ordered a tapa. We tried:
— Ensaladilla de Palmitos con Gambas
— Salmon Ahumado con Esparragos Blancos
— Chaminones al Ajillo
— Mejilliones al Vapor
— Calamares Fritos con Ali-​Oli
–Croquetas de Pollo
— Albondigas Estofadas
There was also some skewered sausages but I didn’t try them. Every single dish was great! The mushrooms were probably the best in my opinion. The mussels (mejilliones) weren’t my favorite. Everyone loved the Croquetas de Pollo. The salmon was SO SO good. It was just thin slices of smoked salmon but they were amazing.
Location: It’s good in that there’s so many other things around it to do. You can shop and then take a tapas lunch, then get cupcakes afterwards. It’s just a pain to manuever through Georgetown but there are parking decks.
Décor: Amazing. Nice, calm atmosphere with trendy décor and the faux animal fur seats are exciting.
