Bike and Roll DC offers guided bike tours, Segway tours, and a wide variety of bike rentals in Washington, DC. Bike and Roll DC’s bike and Segway tours are a fun and interactive way for locals and visitors to tour the National Mall, major sites, monuments and memorials. Our Capital Sites bike tour, Monuments bike tour, and Sites@Nite evening bike tours are the perfect way to see DC and are offered from early March — December at our convenient National Mall location in L’Enfant Plaza. Visitors can also Segway DC year-​round with Bike and Roll DC’s daily Sites by Segway tours.

Bike and Roll DC also offers bicycle rentals including Trek comfort hybrid bikes, as well as road bikes, performance bikes, cruisers and tandem bikes. Kid’s bikes and accessories (such as tandem trailers and burleys) are also available for hire.

History

Established in 1996.

In 1996, Bike the Sites began as a bike tour company focusing on visiting the sites on the National Mall. In the years since, the company has expaned to include bike rentals as well as full bike service. In 2008, the company joined forces with similar bicycle tour and rental companies and became Bike and Roll. As of 2010, there are three locations in the DC Metro area: Downtown DC, Union Station and Old Town Alexandria.

Chirstmas on Wheels Tour
So, riding a Segway is without a doubt a really cool experience in and of itself. Pair it with approachable and professional staff, a beautiful crisp winter evening in DC and a comical and charming tour guide and the adventure has only just begun.
Take on the holiday displays across the district with friends, visiting relatives or even solo… it is worth every investment.

Tujon was an AWESOME and informative guide! He was super knowledgeable and flexible. I especially loved how he used hand signals while biking, since it’s sometimes hard to hear while biking, it was great to know if we were turning or stopping. Tujon shared some great history with us, especially about the Vietnam Memorial which we were curious about.
We love doing bicycle tours when we visit a city. Gives a great overview of key landmarks, access to places you usually cannot reach with a car, plus it’s fun! :) Don’t park on the street, park in L’Enfant Plaza. We were the only two in our tour, which was AWESOME, basically a private tour!
It’s true, you will see «quintessential Christmas in Washington» The Botanical Gardens Holiday Showcase was incredible, the yummy hot chocolate stop at the Willard Hotel and of course the Capitol and National Christmas Trees!
Do it! Wear a warm coat :)

It was our first segway tour.
So much fun. It’s a fun way to get around and tour the city. Our tour focused on the National Mall.
Shea our guide is super sweet and very nice.
Make sure you arrive early for the tour. Need to complete the waiver, watch a safety video, and get a quick lesson on maneuvering on a segway. It takes a bit of time before you get your «segway legs». Once you have it, pedestrians, watch out!
They also provide a bottle of water and a snack. Such a nice touch.

Absolutely loved this tour! We did the 2.5 hour tour which included two small breaks and a bottle of water and a snack. Segways are so much fun and pretty easy to maneuver once you get the hang of it! Ask for Sam, he was great! He was very informative and helpful. We learned so much! This is definitely the way to go in terms of touring DC! You hit most of the major landmarks and historical buildings/​museums. Highly highly recommend!

So glad we found the Groupon for Bike and Roll to do a segway tour in DC! We had an absolute blast! Our guide, Allison, was patient, fun, and knowledgeable. We had spent the whole previous day walking around DC, but on the Segway we were able to see and learn a lot more in a shorter amount of time.
I would suggest a segway tour with Bike and Roll to anyone visiting the city. Check Groupon before booking! We were able to snag a 2 ½ hour tour for 2 for $ 79 AND and additional 20% off with a coupon. The truth is, even if you don’t have a Groupon this tour is worth every penny!

I would recommend doing this tour first before any other tour. It gives you a great over view of the National Mall and our tour guide Alison did a great job explaining all the history behind the monuments and buildings. The Segway itself was a lot of fun. I was a bit nervous at first but by time the tour was over I felt like a pro. I will definitely do this again!

We took a one of the last ni ght tours for the season with Jessica was very informative. She told some awesome jokes, gave us some insider information, and was super patient with us. I have an issue with my leg and I was able to ride them without any issues at all. I would say to take this tour and have a blast!

We did the 3 hour Segway tour at National Mall, and it was so fun and a great experience! Our tour guide/​instructors Beverly and Britney were awesome in teaching us to safely ride the segways! There’s only a few roads to cross at this location since the tour tracks the sidewalk perimeter of the National Mall.
National Mall Location Tip: The meet up point is near the right side of the front entrance to the Smithsonian museum of American history. The stand has the blue circle logo.

Had such a great time on our Segway tour. Took advantage of a Groupon and got a great deal for a 2.5 hour tour – $ 40. I was a little nervous about the Segway, but our tour guide (Lex) did an awesome job getting everyone up to speed on how they worked, and before long, we were all cruising like old pros. We did the evening tour (6:00−8:30) and got to see all the sights lit up at night with a final stop at the Lincoln Memorial, which was amazing.
Riding the Segway was super fun, although we were both a little sore at the end from standing and using little-​used muscles to balance. Would do this particular tour again, and will definitely look for other Bike & Roll places when I’m in other cities.
As a note – you have to be 18 to do this, as the Segway is considered a «motorized vehicle.»

Did the Segway tour here using a groupon and it was a really great way to see the sights. Sam was our tour guide and he was the perfect amount of info and speed.
We did the 130 tour in a weekday and it wasn’t too packed on the mall so we could maneuver around fairly easily. We had a short break at the Lincoln memorial along with a provided snack (granola bars).
The segways are a bit intimidating at first but they are actually fairly easy to maneuver. They give you a bit of time at the start to get used to it before you get out on the road too. No one fell down on our tour so don’t be scared — definitely try it out!

Great fun way to see the mall with kids. The bike ride entices the kids and keeps them interested throughout the tour. Definitely not for someone looking for a relaxed stroll around the monuments but defiantly an awesome experience for adventure lovers. Our tour guide Gabe was very knowledgable and took his time to ensure everyone got a chance to explore and ask questions about all the historical sites. Overall this was a great tour guides by a friendly and knowledgable staff! Also just in case we took this tour with an 8 and 11 year old and it was perfect and very safe for bike riders of this age

My friends and I had SO much fun riding the segways around the Natl Mall area. Our tour guide Quilla made sure we had a good time AND always kept us safe maneuvering thru the traffic & other pedestrians. She was born & raised in DC so she was knowledgeable & shared a lot of interesting stories about the city. She was also prepared with ponchos because the chance of rain during our tour (though it never rained) & offered granola bars as snacks during our break at Lincoln Memorial. Our brief training was thorough… Quilla answered all our questions & despite being a first-​time segway rider, I felt very comfortable heading out on the tour… Never once felt unsafe.
We visited the Capitol, National Mall, saw the White House from a distance, went down Constitution Ave. passing the Washington Monument, and ended up at Lincoln Memorial. I’ve never watched House of Cards but with its recent popularity she added one quick view from the show before heading back. The only thing I would have to mention is, I wish we had gotten closer to the White House.

I had a great time and totally recommend this tour. Tujon was super engaging and had lots of fun facts to share. It was a little difficult to find so you might want to call ahead for step-​by-​step instructions on navigating through L’Enfant Plaza.

I would take this tour again. Tip: wear comfy sneakers, you mostly use your feet to control the Segway.

We had Jessica for our guide and got a good deal from groupon (or was it living social) for the bicycle tour. We really wanted to do segway but that was overbooked.
The biking is not strenuous at all. you ride for like 4 mins on flat ground and then stop while the guide explains and allows you to roam /​take pics for 5 mins. You will have to ride up a hill at the very end though.
We were provided with a light snack (cliff bars), bottled water, and helmets. The bike was comfortable and easy to operate (although one or two girls seemed to have flats right after we left).
After our tour we felt a lot more confident about the layout of things and got some good tips and suggestions for things to do. I liked that at the end Jessica allowed us to ask about anything specific she hadn’t mentioned. My bf really wanted to see the air and space museum so she took us over there (even though we were about to end the tour before) and gave us a short history lesson.

We completed a segway tour with Bike and Roll, and truly couldn’t ask for a better experience. From the courteous and insightful staff members that I spoke to over the phone, to our wonderful guide, Kelly, we were very impressed.
We began with plenty of practice time on the premise, and then began our tour around the Capitol. I felt very safe, and in very good hands. This really is the best way to see all of the sights in 2.5 hours, especially in the summer, with the humidity and heat. I loved that they provided snacks and water on the hot DC day that it was. I look forward to my next tour with them!

Rather than try to bring a wheelchair with us on the plane and through two airports and then on the Metro, we opted to rent one here from Bike and Roll. Not exactly easy to find and not exactly handicap accessible from L’Enfant metro station, but their focus is bicycles and Segways. I hadn’t made a reservation, but they still had one left when we arrived.
$ 7/​hour was reasonable enough and we returned it on time. Now the long walk to the L’Enfant elevator. Ugh.
Next time, I’ll bring it from home. Washington tries, but they don’t succeed at being a completely handicap accessible city.

We had such a great experience riding with Bridget last week for a monument segway tour. It was our first time, but we soon got then hang of it after watching a video presentation and our guide’s instructions. The tour itself was an hour, but with the instructions and practice time as well as the return trip to the office it took about 2. 5 hours.
We rode along the mall, starting from the African art museum to the Capitol, then back along Pennsylvania Avenue (in the bike lane that’s in the middle of the road) all the way to Lincoln Memorial. Bridget gave excellent and at times humorous talks about places of interest including the Newseum, different Smithsonian museums, the FBI building, the post office, Freedom Plaza, White House, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Korean Memorial, DC War Memorial, WW II Memorial, and the Washington Monument. We also got bottles of water, which was great, and snacks while on our break at Lincoln.
Definitely recommend it for locals and visitors alike, especially when the weather’s nice. We rode before and after the sun set, and it was a nice ride in the breezy dusk.
