My neighborhood liquor store. They’re extremely friendly – and surprisingly well-stocked! The customer service is just excellent.

I wish I could give Benmoll a 0. This was my local liquor store until recently. After a horrible experience last month, I will never return and will warn others to stay far away. A few weeks before my October wedding, my then-fiancé and I purchased two magnum bottles of Veuve Cliquot to be used during pre-wedding festivities the morning of our nuptials. We felt the price was fair and had always had a positive customer experience at our neighborhood liquor store. Unfortunately, this is where the pleasantries ended. On the morning of our wedding, while my bridal party and I began hair and make-up, we decided to pop the bubbly. We were excited to begin the party and looked forward to enjoying champagne during the hours leading up to the ceremony. One of my bridesmaids, an expert in the art of popping bottles, proceeded to do the honors. We were anticipating the customary«pop» of the cork. however, what we received was comparable to a twist-off cap on a bottle of cheap beer. Horrified, she tried the second bottle. No dice. Both corks were rotten, with a thick, black mold covering the entire bottom half of the cork. The champagne was completely flat and rancid. Since I had purchased TWOMAGNUMSOFCHAMPAGNE I did not anticipate that I would need reinforcements, so our entire bubbly stash was nilch. Annoyed, embarrassed, and caught between two magnums of flat champagne and a thirsty bridal party(never a good place to be), I, ONMYWEDDINGDAY, put my hair and make-up on pause to venture down to Benmoll and return the defunct and dysfunctional products. What happened next continues to astound me. I made the decision to go right then and there because I had a feeling the more time that passed the more difficult it may be to recoup my losses. Plus who could deny a bride on the morning of her wedding? Oh boy was I wrong. Not only did the two employees(owners?) argue with me and insist that they did not owe me a thing, they seemed unfazed by the fact that I was hours from getting married and I had to return to their establishment because they sold me bad bubbly. After ten minutes of going in circles, they finally admitted that they knew the case which contained the two magnums they sold me was bad, but then proceeded to make excuses as to why they sold it anyway or did not alert me or my fiancé to this fact, at the time of purchase or during one of the numerous times we had patronized the establishment after we purchased the magnums but prior to our wedding day. I demanded that they not only exchange the two bad magnums for the equivalent number of bottles contained within, but gift me a complimentary bottle of Veuve or Moet in exchange for the horrible and unfathomable experience of having to deal with this preventable issue on my wedding day. I received no apologies, only attitude and the worst customer service imaginable. The best they could offer me was a 5.99 bottle of Andre for my troubles. I was beyond insulted at the lack of empathy and level of irresponsibility. I was literally in my bridal robe, with my hair done, and half of my make-up applied, arguing with two of the most uncompassionate and incompetent business owners I have ever come into contact with in the DC area. Frustrated and dumbfounded, I left vowing never to return. STAYAWAY!

I come here before or after the gym sometimes for a vitamin water or a protein shake. The prices for these items are a lot better here than at the gym that I go to. The people here are very nice as well. It feels really neighborhood-like. So if you see me popping in all sweaty from the gym it is to buy work out drinks not a large bottle of pear vodka… well at least not usually… mmm pear vodka and cranberry. mmm.

This used to be my local liquor store. The guys inside are so sweet! I love them. Also I would stop in just to grab a diet coke because they have a little frig section of cokes, sport drinks, etc. Always had anything and everything that I wanted. I was sad to move away from them … but my drinking consumption has gone down since then. So, overall win?

This is my local. Really nice people work here(they’ve lent me an umbrella and helped me carry cases of beer to my place — just down the street). I wish the liquor prices were a little less but I guess that’s DC… they have a great selection of beer!
