Cheap haircut. You get what you pay for. Pleasant people, average skills. Definitely don’t go here if you want a fade or any blending with scissors. Not the place for me, won’t be going back.

I was one of Ruth’s first customers when B&C opened over a year ago. Now it’s getting harder to get a haircut from her by walk in because she’s become so popular. Ruth is friendly, engaging, and never forgets details about you and how you like your excellent cut. The shop is in a great location and the $ 20 price is right. Throw in the ‘free hot towel’ and you have a customer for life. I won’t go anywhere else!

I’m very picky when it comes to haircuts. After living in DC for 5 years and commuting to NOVA for work, I’ve been around the block. Call it commitment issues. All barbers are polite and greet you with smile. Nothing pretentious. This spot gives a quality haircut with minimal(if any) wait time. I’ve been serviced by several barbers and have enjoyed each cut. This place is able to give the stylish cut that many«old-school» barbers seem to whiff on. Attention to detail is spot on– comes with a hot towel at the end so you can actually go out in public after the cut(I.e stray hair isn’t all over my face) Do yourself a favor and don’t walk in to Wise Owl only to be told the wait is 2.5 hrs. Do yourself a favor and don’t go to Diego’s where they do not follow directions and a trim becomes a job more fit for a lawnmower. Only complaint would be no straight razor on the neck. Luckily I try to go often enough(every 3 wks). Price is right– $ 20 is very reasonable compared to competitors. Cash only for tips.

B+C barber is great on many levels. Haircut, customer service, price. Initially went to another barber shop and was bummed my barber moved out of town. Blessing in disguise after finding B+C. Tina and Ruth have been fantastic. I’m sure the others there will be just as great. Will continue to go to them until I move out of DC. Whether you are a resident or a visitor, trust in the ratings!

Positives: –I walked in and got into a chair right away. No wait. –Place looked clean. –20 bucks. Negatives: –The woman cutting my hair faced me away from the mirror, so I couldn’t see anything she was doing. If I wanted it a little shorter or a little longer, I wouldn’t have been able to tell her, because I couldn’t even see it. It was like she wanted to surprise me at the very end of the haircut by spinning the chair around for a big reveal. –I asked for a #3 clipper on the sides, which she used. But she tried to hover the clipper away from my scalp for some reason. The entire reason for using the clipper is so that you can press it against the scalp and get an even cut all around. Her bizarre hovering resulted in a really uneven cut on the sides. –Even though there was no one waiting, she seemed very rushed to get through my cut. She wasn’t paying attention to detail because she was hurrying. –At the beginning of the cut, she turned my collar inside out(as she should). When the cut was finished, she just walked away without using a blow drier or brush to get the hair off my neck, and she just left the collar inside out. Very strange. –They advertise a «hot towel,» but it is nowhere near hot. I would call it a «barely warm, abrasive towel.» Overall, I guess I might consider this place if all I wanted was a buzz cut. But even then, I wouldn’t pay $ 20 for it. The only reason they get 2 stars is that they weren’t outright rude or anything.

Needed a quick haircut and a cheap one. This place was great. Vietnamese-owned, super friendly and quick service. I checked Unilocal for surrounding salons and this one seemed to fit the occasion — cheap, fast, & oh! and they take CC’s but no AmEx(which I had). When I entered their small establishement it was midday on a weekday so I was quickly sat. I believe Ruth was my stylist. She asked me what I wanted, listened carefully and started doing her thing. As she cut she asked me if I was ok with the length. Super attentive. In 20 minutes I was done!!! Got a nice hot towel on the back of my neck and face. When I pulled my AmEx out she told me of their policy but I had no cash on me. Without hesitation she says. «You come back and pay.» Just like that, without a worry. Bank of America was a 20 minute walk away. Gave her a generous tip and will surely remember to return. Great little spot that deserves local business.

Quick no thrill or frill hair cut, love it! Finally a hair salon that doesn’t make you spend all day in it for a hair cut. Women’s hair cut $ 25, worth every buck, I shall return! :)

Ruth is good! Just tell her how you like it and let her know how she is doing. Hot towel thing is great.

I’ve been going to Ruth’s shop for about a year now after having bounced around the different options in the Dupont area — Diego’s, VSL, Hair Cuttery — and B&C is now my enthusiastic choice for my regular barber shop. Ruth gives a great cut and now always remembers my style, and the hot towel is a great, refreshing end to the cut. B&C is affordable, friendly, and consistent. I would(and have) recommend B&C to anyone in the area.

If you want a basic and cheap haircut, this is for you. I asked for something slightly different and the nice lady did a very average job. Well-meaning but I won’t be going back. Why is it so hard to get a decent haircut in DC?

It’s not a flashy barbershop, but you can get your hair cut reasonably quickly there. That being said, my barber barely used the scissors, even when trying to blend my hair along the sides. It would show great skill if it was an amazing haircut, but it wasn’t, and now I have to live with a few spots where my scalp shines through around the ears. The«hot towel» as nothing to do with the haircut and is an afterthought. Good in a pinch.

I don’t understand the high rating here. If you want anything more than a buzz go somewhere else. The woman cutting my hair never even dampened my hair and only seemed to know how to use clippers. When I requested scissors, she made a few snips, and then went back to the clippers. She tried to stop while it still looked like an uneven chop job, and the manager had to come over and instruct her to even it out. If you want a buzz or a bowl cut, go here. Otherwise, look elsewhere

Great experience. I haven’t ever written a Unilocal review, but I received such great service I had to write about it. Overall the service is great. I got in and out fast — there were 5 or 6 people working so I didn’t wait more than 5 minutes. Once I sat down Ruth asked me what I wanted and she talked through what she was going to do. I have really thick hair and many people don’t know how to deal with it. She not only did a great job, but gave me advice on how to have people cut my hair in the future(in case I don’t go back to her). She was super detail oriented and even though my haircut was done pretty quickly, she was very thorough. I will definitely be back!

Thankful to fellow Unilocalers who’ve reviewed this spot. I was here on a business trip for the week and unfortunately didn’t have time to hit up my barber before coming to DC. Unfortunately most barber shops aren’t open on Sundays. This is a small and unassuming barber shop near Dupont Circle near some great places to eat. The stylists here are friendly. I ended up getting my haircut from Cao(sp?). He asked me what I wanted and being that this was his first time cutting my hair I wasn’t sure if he would get it right. He nailed it. I’ll be sure to hit this spot again the next time I’m in the area. $ 20 for the cut and hot towel. Well worth it. Tipped him $ 5. The only drawback… I don’t live in DC.

Cheapest haircut I’ve found in this area so far, decent cut depending on who you get. One of the women put a hot towel on my face after the haircut and basically made all the cut hair stick to my face sending me out on the street looking like wolfman but at least everything was straight I guess…

Quick service on an early Sunday afternoon — I didn’t have to wait a minute. The cut was perfect — the stylist listened to me and didn’t hack away all my hair, as is usually the case in other salons. I left feeling confident and happy, so I’ll definitely return. Tip: although they accept credit cards for payment, for some reason they only accept cash tips. Whenever you stop by, make sure to have some cash on you so you don’t have to look for an ATM afterwards.

There is no reason to go to Diego’s. The two cutters here are equal or better to those at Diego’s. $ 20 for a cut and towel. Good attention to detail. My only issue is they seem a little more reliant on razors and use scissors less than most barber shops. Also nice that they accept c. cards, unlike so many other barber shops out there. Definitely recommend.

I found B&C Hair Style on Unilocal and also saw it when I walked by the other day. This is a new addition to Dupont and from what I know of the neighborhood, a much needed one. There isn’t a bevy of affordable barber shops around these parts despite a good amount of males living along this corridor. B&C is conveniently located near the Circle and near Lauriol Plaza(I mean, everyone knows where THAT is!) and Mandu. As soon as I walked in this morning, I was approached by Ruth. She is friendly, bubbly, and professional. Since I went a few minutes after opening, there was no wait. I was in and out in under 30 minutes.(Men’s haircuts are $ 20 and it includes a hot towel.) Of course, I’m basing this review off my personal haircut which isn’t a very involved one. Nevertheless, Ruth provided great customer service and the space is clean. Having a small business in the District can be tough and expensive so I hope they stay open!
