Anytime K9

My puppy just graduated from puppy preschool with Jessica. 5 weeks ago, when we began the class, she did not know a single command. She will now sit, stay, wait, «leave it,» «touch,» go to her spot, and lie down. It’s a miracle! Jessica was a wonderful, very committed instructor. In addition to showing us how to teach our puppy the basics, Jessica offered tons of advice on other training issues we were having that were not part of the class itinerary. I highly recommend Jessica’s classes!

We took a «never too late» class with Avi with our 10 month old pup. Avi is awesome. He is an amazing trainer and truly cared about the progress we were making. He made training easy to understand and so manageable that we actually looked forward to training our dog during the week so that we could show off her new skills! He always took the time to answer any questions we had and also encouraged us to email him over the week/​after class with any outstanding questions or concerns. We emailed him about an issue we were having with our pup and he responded in a timely manner and followed up with us about the issue the next time we saw him. Our dog is so much better trained just by taking his 5 week class. The only negative I can say about anytime k9 is that the facility itself (on 9^th street NW) is quite dirty/​old and not very inviting. Nonetheless, we are looking forward to taking another class with him in the near future.

Staff is incompetent and tends to blame the dogwalkers for their mistakes. They are underskilled and lack professionalism.
There are too many other quality dog walking companies to settle for them.

Toni is amazing, she is the owner. She has helped get our rambunctious pitties in line! We really like her positive training methods, she is extremely knowledgeable, and she was incredibly flexible with us and our needs, including when we moved across the country! I’m sad we didn’t have more time with Toni before leaving DC. We tried another trainer first that we had little success with (and spent a lot of money on), I wish we’d started with Anytime K-​9.

I’ve had a great experience with the dog walks. My dog has been suffering from a lot of storm-​related anxiety and Rudy has been so amazing! Love them!

5 Stars is not enough. Toni was amazing. We started learning from the very minute she walked into my building for a one-​on-​one training session. She is incredibly knowledgable, approachable, and talented. In just one hour, she taught us so much — from how to walk our dog, interact with our dog as the pack leader, feed our dog so that she will eat her food right away, not jump up on strangers who approach her, to teaching her multiple tricks. I was AMAZED to say the least. Like I said, 5 stars is not enough. I would give her 10!

Avi is amazing. Our pup, 6 months after adoption, was really struggling with separation anxiety. We signed up for «Never Too Late» in the hopes of establishing a training regimen to start to work on his issues. The class was fantastic, and we have a completely new perspective on interacting with our dog. He’s already gotten better in so many ways.
Avi was always available to help with questions or issues outside of class, and continues to be even after the course is finished. We asked him about more training specifically geared towards anxiety, an Avi have us his whole work up of separation anxiety training. He also told us (in a completely not pushy way) that he gives 20% off for private lessons to former students in case we want extra help (which we certainly do), but he provided everything we would need to tackle it ourselves for free.
Classes are fun, and we looked forward to it every week. It’s worth pointing out that we covered dog behaviors, not tricks, so this is more of a sit/stay/don’t eat that chicken bone class than roll over and jump through hoops (which, for all I know, they offer).
TL;DR– great class, great trainer, super helpful in getting our dog to understand what we want and be better behaved

We did (and loved) puppy preschool with Anytime K9, but this review is for the dogwalking services: Beyond love them. They have been walking our little dog for over 6 months now, and every day our walker has been reliable, punctual, and entertaining. They use an automated check-​in/​check-​out system which alerts by e-​mail me when the walker is there, the duration of the walk, and a little note about what went down. We tried another local walking service before Anytime K9, and the value for money and overall professionalism of Anytime K9 is head and shoulders above the competition. Highly recommended.

I took my dog to the Never Too Late class earlier this year with Jessica and we LOVED it! Firstly, it was wonderful that there were only two other dogs in the class since we were able to get a lot of one on one training with Jessica. She was FABULOUS and so helpful. Our little guy can be a little crazy but she handled him wonderfully and gave us so many suggestions. She was always on call to help with training. We can’t wait to take our pup to the middle school class.

Toni is a fantastic trainer! I scheduled an in home training with Toni for my new pug and she was incredible! Her training was functional and fun and my dog and I learned a ton about each other. Thank you, Toni! Look forward to seeing you soon!

My experience with Anytime K9 wasn’t good, sad to say. I’m sorry to write a negative review but even sorrier that me & my pooch had such a disappointing «Never too late» group class. I exchanged good emails with Toni, the owner, in advance, explaining that my main goal was to teach my dog to come when called. There are supposed to be 5 classes, but one was canceled because of rain (it was supposed to be held outside) and I had to miss one due to an emergency dr. appt (I called to let them know.) The teacher, Jessica, said I should take three classes back to back on a make-​up day. That seemed like a bad idea to me and I emailed Toni to ask about make ups. I got a long email back saying that unlike many competitors, Anytime K9 does allow for one make-​up class. OK … first of all, I felt I was being talked down to and admonished for a perfectly nice and reasonable request. I had explained the above and since Anytime K9 canceled a class, IMHO it’s reasonable to expect I will be able to make them both up. I didn’t miss two classes — they canceled one.
In addition, I went to class instead of going to the free Concert for Valor — which of course I would have liked to go to. After all, how many times can you see Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen, Carrie Underwood, Metallica etc FREE on the Mall? It was a big event, but the teacher confirmed that we’d have class and I didn’t want to miss it so I went, battling traffic since there were many road closures. The teacher wasn’t there! There was some confusion on her end although we’d confirmed the time earlier that day. Another teacher Avi let me join his class. That’s how I found out that the «leave it» command that I’d been taught and been practicing with my dog was actually the «wait» command. Of course that was not encouraging.
In the end, the only things we successfully took away from the class were learning «focus,» «wait,» and «touch.» None of which my dog will do outside, which apparently is normal. We didn’t have the classes where leash walking and come are taught. Although Toni confirmed her policy that I could make up one class, as mentioned above I felt lectured to and haven’t scheduled the make up. I only got to attend 2 out of the five classes — I missed one, Anytime K9 canceled one, and apparently the 5^th session is graduation. I really wish I could report that I had the great experience with Anytime K9 that I anticipated, but I don’t feel like I got what I bargained for (a 5 session class) or that my dog is better off than before.

I took my 7 month old puppy to puppy preschool with Toni, and she was awesome! Freya definitely was the most «spirited» puppy in the first class, but by the end she was an expert at focus, sit, stay, lay down, leave it, etc. She was terrible at loose leash walking but Toni recommended a different kind of harness which was a huge help. The other great thing was that Freya really loved the class too (probably because she got to eat hot dogs every time she did something right). I think the class was great for her because she’s so food motivated, it may be less helpful for dogs who don’t care as much about treats (if that type of dog even exists). The only other thing to note is that you do have to practice with your dog daily– if you just take the class but don’t reinforce the behavior on a regular basis they won’t learn and it’ll probably just be frustrating for them. Toni is legit like a dog whisperer though so even if you don’t practice she can probably get your dog to do what’s he wants. We will probably sign Freya up for a future class.

These people are the real deal when you want comfort knowing that your doggy is being well taken care of when you are away. Courtney was so helpful at guiding us through the process of their online check in/​checkout app. It made my vacation out of the country so much less anxious with the updates and the personal notes on how our dog was. I truly think that my dog can’t wait for me to leave again, as he was spoiled rotten by these outstanding and professional individuals. Also, most importantly, is that these people are full fledge animal lovers. At the meet and greet, Courtney, somehow won over my dog’s affection by just talking. They are never let me down once. And they don’t overcharge on any of the services. They go above and beyond just walking your pet.

I use Anytime K9 for dog walking however have not needed to use them for training. I really loved the use of Pet Check Technology! It is a stress relief to get an email when the dog is picked up and dropped off, and it’s nice to see the route they take. I do not need them every day as I take care of my dog 2 – 3 times a year for about a month at a time, but he really loved Melissa during the time he was walked. I have nothing but great things to say about the company.
They recently put on a Yappy Hour in Logan Circle to meet the new walkers, meet some dogs, and enjoy some people food and drinks and it was a blast. I like how community-​oriented the company is. I have recommended their dog walkers as well as the trainers based on reading other Unilocal reviews.

I love working with Toni! My only regret is that I didn’t call sooner. I read the reviews on Unilocal,checked out the website, and even had a call with Toni about a year before I made the decision to start working with her. I had used a pretty bad trainer previously (with another company) and was nervous to spend the money again. Then, I had a co-​worker recommend Anytime K9 so I made the leap. I couldn’t be happier.
My dog has issues with anxiety that was turning into aggression. He was sweet as can be inside but turned into a different dog outside. It made it difficult to walk him or go outside. He was lunging and barking at people, buses, motorcycles, other dogs… you name it. I felt hopeless to fix the situation. After three private lessons with Toni there is a total turnaround.
We are still working on greeting other dogs on leash but yesterday I sat in Rock Creek Park for 2 hours and read a book while he sat calmly next me ignoring most of the other dogs that passed (not to mention people, buses, motorcycles, ect). I never could have done this before working with Toni. She really knows what she is doing and is wonderful to work with.

We enlisted Avi for his help in training our two rescue pups, one ten months and the other 2.5 years. He was great, super helpful and knowledgeable and very patient, particularly with our 2.5 year old pup who is very shy. Not only was Avi very professional, but he was completely flexible with our schedules which tended to shift at the last minute.
We did the in-​home training which I highly recommend. It allowed our pups to feel at home while learning. He spend one on one time with each and explained to us exactly what we needed to be doing to move them on the right path. Since our training session they’ve gotten so much better at listening, eating and manners.
Highly recommend Avi!

My boyfriend and I took our puppy Bodie to preschool with Avi because Anytime K9 was recommended to us by Lucky Dog. And we are so happy we took this class!
There were 5 puppies total in class, and each class is an hour long. Avi was able to give individual attention to each group. He would watch us training our puppy and offer advice (on tone, body language, etc.) to help the puppy better understand what we were trying to do. Avi was also always willing to answer questions before and after class. We had to miss a class one week, and Avi was super accommodating in scheduling a make-​up class.
As first time puppy owners, we had a lot of general questions which Avi was able to answer (about treats, crates, harnesses/​leashes, etc.) Everything we learned was great for Bodie, but also awesome for the humans. I really feel as though we learned how to communicate with our puppy because of this class. For us, I think our favorite part was the leash /​walking class. Bodie used to pull so much on the leash, but started walking amazingly after that class. He is a changed pup :)
I would highly recommend puppy preschool for new puppy owners. You learn a lot of important basics, and can continue building on what you learn from this class.

We took our rescue dog to Anytime K9 for puppy preschool with Avi and could not be happier with the results. Avi was such a patient instructor and addressed the individual needs of the five puppies in class and was always kind enough to stay afterward to answer questions. Our beagle basset mix is by no means «trained» and is still learning, but there is a marked improvement in his behavior and his listening skills. We will continue to practice the commands Avi taught us.
I would recommend puppy preschool to any new dog owner who may be overwhelmed with the training process. It’s a lot of work even though Avi makes it look easy!

Toni is a legit Dog Whisperer. I cant even explain how this woman does her magic, but it’s incredible. When we got our puppy, Kobe, we really wanted to get in to her Puppy Preschool but they were all full. So instead of making us wait several weeks/​months to get a spot, she released another class, which we really appreciated since we were new dog owners so were already in over our heads!
The classes are really small and personal (about 3 – 5 dogs) so your puppy doesn’t get lost in the shuffle. The course is great because its just as much for the parents as it is for the puppy.
I highly recommend this class for all puppy parents especially new dog owners.

I recently moved to the area with a pup that was in need of some training. I decided to sign him up for puppy school! Toni was totally great! She offers affordable prices and convenient sign up online. The classes were well organized– mixing training with socialization for humans and pups alike. My little guy struggles a bit with separation anxiety, which Toni helped me address with some nifty techniques. If you are looking for classes for your dog– look her up!
