Stopped in here after an hour or some on google and Unilocal.I was definitely not disappointed. They were extremely nice and knowledgeable and obviously cared about why I was buying the jewelry. I didn’t know what I wanted when I went in so they were patient and asked question to hone in on what I wanted as we went. I think I asked them to pull out 25 different pieces before I picked one and I never once felt rushed or like they were annoyed.
Obviously this is a smaller family run place so they don’t have a huge selection like a chain place would, but what they had was quality and varied.

Afram did a watch repair for me that was completely beyond my expectations. I had a Rolex Oyster Perpetual from 1972 that was originally my grandfather’s and had been given to me by my father. Unfortunately, it was in TERRIBLE shape, given that my father broke the crystal and yet continued to wear it. There was a huge hole in the crystal and the face of the watch was caked in decades-​old dirt. The hands were bent, and the whole thing was just generally in terrible shape. I was pretty sure if it were to ever work again, almost all of the parts would need to be completely replaced. So I was completely shocked when this Valentine’s Day my boyfriend presented me with a shining Rolex with a beautiful new strap… it took me a few minutes to realize it was my grandfather’s Rolex! He had fished it out of the back of my jewelry box without my knowledge and brought it to Afram. And I’m so glad he did – amazingly, they were able to keep all parts of the original watch with the exception of the crystal, obviously, and the crown (which was very worn down). They were even able to straighten out the completely bent second hand. They also took the internal mechanisms completely apart to clean them. I really appreciate that they took the time to restore the very damaged parts rather than just swapping them out for new ones. Additionally, when it was getting close to Valentine’s Day and the dial was not back from Rolex, they called repeatedly to make sure my boyfriend got it in time. I was so, so happy with the outcome. My boyfriend also said they were so nice to work with through the entire process. I definitely recommend them for their excellent watch repair!

My gorgeous Kate Spade watch slipped out of my hands and fell face down on my bathroom floor and shattered. Shards of glass were moving around inside the watch but it was still ticking. A quick search online confirmed that I needed the ‘crystal’ replaced. womp womp
Ok…so I hate errands. And this was an added errand that I 1. had no experience with and 2. was sure that I was going to get financially screwed over. With that assumption I picked the closest watch repair store, because if I’m going to get screwed I may as well make it convenient.
After work that day I rushed to drop my watch off for repair, but parking around the store was impossible. After 10 minutes of looking for a spot, I called the store asking where they recommend I park. The woman working said, ‘oh I’ll come out to your car and get your watch, don’t worry.’ That’s crazy right? This is small town service, in the center of the city! She came outside with a tag, looked at watch, took down my information and I drove off.
A few days later (they didn’t have the matching part so they had to order it) I got the call that my watch was ready. I went in for pick up and it was like brand new! I was charged $ 55 dollars and they even replaced my battery for no additional charge.
I adore this business. I felt taken care of the entire time and after this experience, I trust them. Which for me with jewelers is rare. If you need a watch repaired, this is the place to go!

Rarely do I review places but Afram went completely above and beyond for me. I had a diamond stud completely stuck in my left ear after I put the wrong back on, and finally two years later had to have it removed because of a medical procedure I’m getting. Sam and Eva were absolute sweethearts and made me feel so much better about the whole thing! Sam very gently cut the earring out of my ear, all without hurting me — much appreciated. They even outfitted me with a great set (that is removable… ha) until I can come back and get the diamond reset. Highly recommend this place, I’ll definitely be coming back for any watch/​jewelry needs in the future.

I had a wonderful experience recently when I brought my engagement ring to Afram in need of small repairs and a resize. I worked with Eva and she immediately put me at ease with her attitude of warmth, competence, and professionalism. She evaluated the ring with a trained eye, made helpful suggestions, and clearly communicated about the repairs that needed to be made and how the team would carry them out.
The ring needed a resize down a quarter size, the center stone needed to be reset, and a diamond pave stone was replaced. This work took about a week, and I got a call from Eva after a few days with an update about the ring. The total cost was $ 175, which I feel was very fair for the quality of customer service and workmanship.
Again I am very pleased with my experience at Afram. I will be returning for all my jewelry needs as well as recommending the shop to all my friends :-D

I went to about 3 – 4 other jewelry stores and water service shops before coming here. None of the other places knew how to change the bracelet on my rolex datejust. As I was explaining to the manager, Sam automatically knew what was wrong and told me to install the strap I bought online he had to bend the spring, cause he has installed that type of strap before. To do that, he had a machine. That knowledge showed me his many years of expertise of working with watches. It took him about 10 mins to do the job many others couldn’t and now my watch looks better than ever. The straps fit perfectly with no wiggling or lose ends. If you need any type of watch repair or service I highly recommend the friendly and knowledgable staff here.

If your watch has four screws on the back, it’s considered to be «complex,» the price to replace the dead battery is $ 15 plus tax. If it’s a «normal» watch then be lucky enough to be quoted $ 8. And don’t expect it to be instant. They will call you when it’s ready.

After reading several Unilocal reviews and also being aided by proximity to my office, I decided to bring my suddenly dead watch here for repair. I had just gotten the battery replaced in the fall, so it seemed odd for it to be a dead battery again. This is not a super high end watch, but it did cost a couple hundred dollars, and I wanted to be sure it was cared for.
I walked in and was immediately greeted. As I was in a hurry, I quickly explained the situation and dropped off my watch with a female with an accent (I don’t remember her name, unfortunately). She complimented me on my «beautiful» watch and seemed very kind. She said she could have it ready to next day and asked if I wanted the watch «polished up like new» for $ 25-​$ 30. I agreed as I was in a rush (though, in hindsight, this does seem rather pricey) and left.
I got a call next day saying that they had opened the watch, and it wasn’t the battery. The same woman explained that the internal mechanisms were broken and would need to be entirely replaced. I stopped by, again, after work that day, and someone working on repairs in the back further explained it wasn’t the battery and some other technical-​sounding stuff I don’t quite remember. The sales woman from the day before explained it would cost $ 100-​$ 150 to replace, and they could do it there. As my watch is only just over 3 years old, I was surprised and expressed disappointment at both the cost for repair and the necessity. Due to how quickly it had «broke,» I told them I would reach out to the manufacturer first and see if it was covered under warranty. If not, I promised I would bring it back to this jeweler.
I also had mentioned in passing that I was also disappointed as I was leaving on vacation the next day and hoped to have my watch repaired before then. The sales lady then aggressively began to try to sell me a new watch so I would «have a watch for vacation.»
After speaking with my mom (who had bought me the watch), we decided to bring it to a trusted jeweler back in my hometown that our family has used for years. It turns out that it WAS only the battery, and my hometown jeweler replaced it at no cost. I am wearing the watch right now, and it is working just fine.
I’d like to think that a jeweler this highly regarded was not trying to scam me into a repair that was not needed, but it would be equally concerning if they could not tell the difference between a dead battery and needing essentially an entire overall. Needless to say, I will not be recommending this place for watch repair. Maybe they are better with jewelry.
Oh, and my hometown jeweler returned the watch clearly buffed and shined at no cost. It seems loyalty is worth the price elsewhere.
TL;DR: This jeweler seems to have tried to scam me into a $ 100-​$ 150 repair for my watch when all it needed was a new battery. An aggressive sales pitch to buy a new watch and a $ 30 watch polish came along with this disappointing service.

I have never been anything but happy with this jeweler. Their prices are totally reasonable and their selection great. The owners are amazing as well.

I have one old bracelet in particular that breaks repeatedly and for which I’ve been to about 12 different jewelers in 5 different countries and this place provided the best solution by thinking outside the box and being passionate about their trade!

Excellent customer service is a rarity. Afram jewelers is the exception. I went in with a replacement band for a Movado watch, expecting for them to charge me for the service of putting on the new band. The lady who helped me was unbelievably kind and replaced the band free of charge, AND I was in and out in 5 minutes! I will be coming here for all of my jewelry and watch repairs from now on. Thank you Afram!

My boyfriend owns a Burberry watch handed down to him by his dad. The backing is unique and mimics the Swiss design with rough edges. I took it to 3 different places and they all said that they didn’t have the proper tools to open it. They all ended up scratching it from trying to open it and replace the battery. I took it finally to Bensons but they said they couldn’t do it either and referred me to Afram. At this point I was about to give up and pay $ 60+ to ship to some fancy place in Europe just to get a battery replaced. The guy at Afram said it’s simple and just removed the strap to pop it open. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes and he was so nice about it and explained to me where the opening was in case I go to another jeweler next time. I’m definitely coming back here again for all my watches because he actually knows what he’s talking about

I was thinking about selling my Omega Seamaster that I bought used after a year of ownership. It would never tell the right time and I was getting annoyed at the watch. I knew when I bought it that it had some problems and probably needed servicing but didn’t really want to invest the $ 600-​$ 800 it would cost to have it sent back to Omega and take 6 months. I brought it to Sam and he said he could overhaul the movement clean everything up and replace the Chrono hands and Wow what a difference! It now tells perfect time looks brand new and he was able to do everything a couple hundred cheaper and quicker than sending it away. Sam was great to work with and very knowledgeable and upfront about everything.
Thank You Sam the watch is great now and I will probably be keeping it for a long time now.

Had a crown and battery replaced on a watch. They did an excellent job at a reasonable price. Very friendly too.

First off, the people at Afram Jewelers make the store. Friendly. Helpful. Knowledgable. I’d been going to the store for watch battery replacements for about a year when I decided to propose to my girlfriend. I brought in my grandmother’s engagement ring which had been passed down to me. Miriam shared in my excitement and helped me design a gorgeous engagement ring which gets A TON of compliments (my gf said yes). I highly recommend stopping in and checking out everything they have to offer.

Amazing group. I had broken the clasp on my watch right before going to California for the holidays and walked it in on Tuesday. By Wednesday, I had a call that they had replaced the clasp (which had been an issue before the latest break) with a new one. Very reasonable on the price and thrilled with the turnaround. Will definitely be back in the future for any needs I have. Thanks Sam!

Afram Jewelers appraised a pair of fine watches for me with friendly, down-​to-​earth, yet expert service, and next-​day turnaround… Plus they did so for far less than another of DC’s jewelry stores. This is a family business, with Sam Morataya handling watches, and his wife Miriam Gems. Mr. Afram founded the business and is still frequently in the store. I am pleased with the appraisal service, and will definitely consider returning to this shop near the White House for future needs.

I was referred to Afram by another jewelry store, which I thought was very nice of a competitor. This family jewelry story is a real gem (pun intended). They are friendly and helpful and extremely knowledgeable. I had two diamond rings appraised. They will sell jewelry on consignment, and have a very nice selection. They also do watch repair.
I now consider Afram my go to jewelry store.

These wonderful folks just changed the battery in my beloved pocket watch today. As always, their customer service is professional, polite and friendly. They charge very reasonable prices, and swiftly conduct their jewelry servicing. I could not more highly recommend them.

Had the crystal and batteries replaced on two watches, the total cost was very reasonable. So yes, I am definitely a fan; however, with one caveat… The woman I worked with (who was such a sweetheart) gave me her suggestion of the servicing needed, and I agreed. I was given a claim ticket, but no price. She told me she’d call, and I took this to mean she’d call with an estimate. I hadn’t heard anything in two days, so I called. Turns out the watches were already worked-​on.
Luckily the price was right… had the numbers not been good, it could have been an ugly situation. Another reviewer mentioned communication there isn’t the greatest, I would have to agree with this. As a customer, I didn’t appreciate not having the opportunity to consent to the cost prior to service being performed.
At any rate, this wasn’t a deal-​breaker for me and I will certainly continue to patronize and refer Afram. Their pricing is fair, their repair-​work is great, not to mention, those I encountered were very warm and friendly. I genuinely felt my business was appreciated.
