Action Al’s Tire

Beware when taking your vehicle there for tires, my car was damaged by one of the employees dragging floor jacks and air gun between cars that are too closely parked. Action Al’s would not take responsibility for the damage they caused to my car

I went to Action Al’s this morning to get a new tire. They were fantastic! I was in and out of there in 20 minutes. They are reasonably priced and friendly. I would recommend to my friends and family.

Great service and best prices. Had a flat while visiting DC. Decided to get all new tires. Al’s picked up the tires I wanted from their warehouse as they weren’t in stock at the garage. When I got there they worked fast and had my car ready to go in about 30 minutes — at the end of their day. The owner’s son even filled out my rebate form, and addressed and stamped the envelope while I waited. Had a stripped lug nut but they didn’t even try to get me to fix it. The guys there seem like very hard workers. It’s family run and I’m always happy to support a local business.

HOnest and good pricing — goes out of his way for guys who serve military, police and fire. Thankyou.

Walked in around 9ish with one person ahead of me. The lady finished helping the guy ahead of me and turned around and started telling another worker a story about some guy they both knew???
I waited at the counter for 3 minutes (felt like hours) without anyone acknowledging me or asking me if I needed help. The two people that were behind the counter were less than 2 feet away from where I was standing. There were four people working there and I was the only customer. I left.
Why do businesses feel they can treat customers like this… might as well have given me the middle finger and told me to f$&@ off and get out!!!

I love this shop. They greet you right away and the staff is very professional, friendly & quick. I usually talk with Dave but everyone working there is great. I recommend all my friends and co-​workers because the price is just right.

This is my family’s new go to spot for tires! We were referred to Action Al by my uncle for great prices on tires. We went in first thing on a Saturday morning and was out of there in no time with 4 brand new tires mounted and balanced for under $ 250. Grant it, I have a small car, with small tires, but still that is a deal compared to other places we looked.
You can tell that this is a family operated business and it comes across with the way that they deal with their customers. They were so nice and extremely friendly from the moment we walked in. They even referred us to a place where we can get alignments done as well. I love this place. I will definitely referred them to other people as well as give them my own business!

Best tire shop around. I highly recommend. Went in on Saturday with a phantom leak in one of my tires. They couldn’t find any obvious issue, but did what they could to fix it. The staff are very good at what they do and was out of there in no time. Took it back in today because I was still losing air. They spent some more time with it and found the tiny pin hole causing the problem. A quick patch and I was off and rolling again. Glad to have found this place.

These guys are the best. this is the third time they have saved SSZ after a tenant distroyed tire on truck. Quick, great price and they also have tires for go carts.

They have always been great. I have had many a plug put in my tires here and I have on a couple of occasions had tires replaced. They are a no-​frills, grease monkey tire shop but, hey your getting tires not ordering filet mignon!

I just came from Action Al’s Tires and I am 100% satisfied.
I called in before going up there and got the quote that I was told over the phone.
The tires were put on in about 20 minutes. Not a long wait at all. And they gave courtesy waters to the customers.
Family owned and good service as a first time customer. I recommend this place to any one looking for new/​used tires.

IF ZERO WAS AN OPTION, they would get it. First, I waited in line for over 20 minutes being the only person waiting to request tires while The owner elected to write service tickets as priority. When he finally got to me he argued with me what type of tires I needed even though it was written on my car door. Regardless of all this I still bought four tires just to be told at my next oil change at the dealership that the tires were falling apart and needed to be replaced! Thanks to this rip off artist I ended up buying eight tires instead of four!

I just bought my second set of tires there. I wasn’t able to have them installed there, but they have access to what I was looking for (Cooper Discoverer AT3’s) at a great price so I had them order them for me. They were decent enough to stay open 45 minutes late for me to pick them up on my way home. Granted, the old man (the owner?) was mad as a hornet, but his son (the guy that does the actual customer interactions) was really nice. When I say mad I mean I could hear him thrashing and swearing before I even got in the building. I just gave him some good back sass and it was okay. «Don’t say anything, just pay for your tires and get out!» was my favorite line. I’m guessing it was Miller Time and I was keeping him from his High Life. Uncle Al starts to get a little torqued when he can’t get home to his «medicine.»
Despite the outlandish old man, they stayed open and gave me a great price on a really good Consumer Reports top rated pickup tire. They get the fourth star for continuing to run a blue collar, automotive business in a city that undoubtedly makes it hard on them. After all, they’re selling car tires, not bike tires.

I’m a fan. I got a flat so I came by to get it repaired. There was a line even though the place had not even opened yet. They attempted to fix it but couldn’t, which I sort of knew it wasn’t going to be repairable. They were able to get me a used tire for an extremely good price. Out the door quickly. My TPMS light was still on. I thought maybe it would reset after driving. The next day it was still on. I took it back, and we determined the sensor was dead. I don’t think they messed iy up. I think it may have gottten damaged from the flat. I just wish we had picked up on it during the first visit. Nonetheless, they were able to replace it. They didnt have the band wheel mounted sensor, but offered to do a stem valve sensor for an exceptional price. They did it, out the door quick again, great driving ever since. I will probably take my other car here to get new snow tires for winter.

We like to stretch out our tires. And by «stretching» — I mean we will be driving down the beltway and every slightly out of norm bump or sound puts a fear in us that the tire may have just popped and gone flat during rush hour and we’d be «those idiots» that started the traffic.
So when it was finally time to give up and replace the tires — a solid 6 months after the dealership told us it was time, I proudly add — we called around to 10+ places to make sure that we were not only getting the best deal but also quality tires. Action Al’s was the winner. They were better then Costco, Walmart, other Unilocaled about recs in the area, and even better than Fort Belvoir and Quantico (even with it being tax free on the military bases).
We ended up with a high quality 80K mile tire, while saving about $ 75 compared to the next cheapest quote. Additionally, they offer military discount and quick service.
One star off for not offering alignment at the same location. While they set it up for you and it’s very close, it would’ve been nice to be able to do it all in one place.

Friendly, family-​run place with good prices. They gave me a great deal on two new tires and had me out of there in under 45 minutes. I appreciated that they didn’t try to up-​sell me.
The neighborhood is a little dingy and so is the store, but don’t let that turn you away. You’ll get knowledgable, fast service.
Bonus: There’s an adorable dog named Koal, who’ll happily keep you company while you wait for your car.

These guys are great! My tires were slashed last night. I had a tow truck tow me to Action Al’s this morning (Saturday).
Lori was awesome. She gave me a price (that beat everyone else I had called and googled), was super nice (I wasn’t in the best mood), and told me to «come on down.»
They had someone drive me to the ATM 2 blocks down (the tow truck only took cash) as soon as I walked in. Then, they went ahead an rotated the tires (as they should) quickly and efficiently. They were super nice and got me in and out within an hour.
Great prices, amazing service, and quick, superb work… What more could you ask for? I will recommend them to anyone who needs anything tire-​related!

They had the rare tire in stock I needed for my Audi at a fair price. Gritty neighborhood and store. Friendly owner who liked to make conversation.
One star off because I expected to come in, order and get my tires put on but instead I came in ordered, and my order was not passed down to the staff for a good 15mins while the owner fielded other calls and in bantered around with staff. I had to constantly check to see if they started working on my order (had to rush and I was the first in line anyway)

Tires are expensive no matter where you go. So if I’m going to pay a ton of money, I’d rather patronize a business like this where the service was no-​nonsense, straight up, and efficient. Some older guy tried to hit on me though, but at least he made himself useful and helped me decide on which brand of tires to buy.
I didn’t make an appointment (no appointment needed actually) and went there about 2 hrs to closing time. I had to wait for about 2 hours for the work to be done on but once it was done, I had new tires and my car was driving perfectly! There isn’t much of a waiting room so be prepared by bringing a book or keeping yourself occupied with your phone.

I’m a fan, for sure.
Action Al’s tires was recommended to me by another car joint that I called after busting my tire out last night — a Friday evening during an insane heat wave, worst end-​of-​week adventure ever! We were riding on a temp tire, and since I live in DC and work in NoVa, we wanted to get the tire fixed before the Monday morning commute.
I called a few places (based on Unilocal recs, of course!), several of which aren’t open on the weekends. One that was actually open on Saturdays said they’d have to order the tire and could have it done on Monday. When I hesitated, they said if I wanted it done today, «Call Action Al’s — they have everything».
Excellent call, other guys! Action Al’s was open, stocked our non-​common tires (just 1!) and told us to come on by — literally, the woman on the phone, when I asked if we needed an appointment, replied, «Nope — we’re open now, come on!» They set us up right away. We were in and out in under an hour.
All the guys we met were knowledgeable and friendly. The current owner’s father was the original Action Al. They have a huge selection of tires on site, a fun wall of local celebs (Chuck Brown got tires there), and a shy cat who apparently doesn’t hang with customers but deigned to come in because it’s a bit cooler inside and the dog wasn’t in that day. She got ensnared by my partner, the cat whisperer, and stayed for a bunch of snuggles, causing the woman behind the counter to comment repeatedly on how amazing it was. They were working pretty hard to make sure everyone got what they needed — Stefan (the cat whisperer) and the owner had an in-​depth conversation about lug nuts, bolt threading, and wrenches.
Thank goodness we found them! Though, wait, now I have no excuse to stay home from work on Monday …
