A.H.P Moving

We needed some last-​minute help on a holiday. I called the day before and they were able to get a couple of guys out the next day. They were extremely fast (and strong!) in loading the truck. Everything they put in the truck was in good shape on the other end. We had some friends help putting some things in the truck the next day and that stuff got damaged.
We hired them again to help us unload. Again, they were fast and professional. A few boxes did end up in a different place than we’d wanted but the label on them was confusing so it was understandable. They were able to move our heaviest stuff and they even took the remaining time I’d paid for and helped get a few things setup.
These movers were a life (and back) saver for us!

This is the worst moving company I have ever hired. The move itself was not ideal but I didn’t get too worked up over it. The two movers sweating over everything we own. I’m not talking about a little sweat… Our boxes were soaked in sweat as well as our furniture. They broke a mirror because of how fast they threw everything in the truck and then did some drywall damage because they were racing to get everything inside. I hired them for 5 hours and they were done in 2 but of course I don’t get refunded those 3 hours. I contacted their office manager to talk about the mirror and drywall damage and Kendra the office manager explained I could get a $ 125 flat refund or they can send contractors out to estimate the damage. I took the $ 125 because it was much easier then dealing with more appointments with contractors. Well fast forward two months and i have not seen that $ 125. Kendra explained it would be about 3 days and we would get a money order in the mail… A few weeks went by and I never saw it so I emailed and called with no return. Finally I got a hold of her and she said she never received any of my calls or emails but then called me from the same number I called her on AND emailed me from the same thread I had sent her! She got very snarky but said she’d talk to the manager and send the funds via western union… Well, now another month has gone by with me calling and emailing with no return and I still do not have my return.
I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN AND I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE! If I could give them zero stars I would.

Needed some help unloading my truck on a recent move from Chicago to Washington, DC. I hired AHP Movers through the Uhaul website when I rented my truck. Scheduling with Kendra was easy — she was prompt, courteous, and celebratory of my exciting new move! She was also very accommodating, letting me know that changing the move time would be fine given the long distance I was traveling from.
The movers arrived ~60 minutes late, but did let me know that they would be about 50 minutes late due to traffic. They were quick to spring into action, but didn’t take time to let me tell them where everything was going. There were a few items that we had wanted in the basement of the house that they were concerned about and had a somewhat bad attitude about, but we came up with a plan B and they were able to get all of the items into my new place. They worked extremely efficiently on an 85 degree DC day and got the job done in 45 minutes.
Pros:
–Good pre-​move communication
–Efficiency
–Cost ($ 110 for 2 hours, $ 55/​hour)
Cons:
–Poor unloading communication
–Didn’t handle fragile items with care
–Professionalism sometimes lacking
–Worried most about getting done quickly
I would probably hire them again for their cost and efficiency, but I would be very clear upon their arrival about my expectations, particularly for fragile items.
