Disclaimer: I work in the restaurant industry, and, not coincidentally, LOATHE Unilocal.I consider it to be the ultimate forum for the uninformed pretension of whiny Millenials; those who scream, «I HAVE A MEGAPHONE/yelp account! LISTENTOME!!!» Why the review? This isn’t some hipster crap. This was the straight-up failure of a cashier to prevent the verbal harassment of a customer– understandable, I suppose, because the guy seemed to be his friend. Wasted African man eating a banana repeatedly says crap to me. I ignore it. He keeps going. I say to bug off. He continues while I go to the register. Me: «I told you I didn’t want to talk to you.» He continues. I ask the cashier why he is not stopping this guy. Cashier: silence. Me: is it ok with you that this man is harrassing your customers? cashier: he OK.(says something to the guy. they both laugh.) Just FYI: I grew up in the damn city. If some crazy-crazy person is rambling about seahorses and lottery tickets, I don’t care. However, this particular fellow was verbally harrassing a female customer, and the cashier was not only NOT attempting to stop it, after I asked him to say something, but this guy was obviously associated with the cashier. When I told him, once AGAIN, to leave me alone, I was greeted by a long, long string of invectives. Cashier stood by and watched it. The manager of this 7 – 11 can contact me via Unilocal message. I would recommend it strongly, as videotape evidence of this surely exists. Completely unacceptable. Have lived in this area for 6 years. Long standing customer of this particular branch. Never again.

So I have an addiction to the 7-Eleven brand of french vanilla cappuccino. I am trying to break the habit, and it almost happened when I was working in Silver Spring — the machine at that store was always broken, which is the case at most 7-elevens from my experience. The machine works maybe 50% of the time. Getting this coffee(read: sugary drink) was more hassle than it was worth. But then I moved to this neighborhood, and found this 7-Eleven. The machine is always functioning. I mean always. Added bonus, the employees are friendly and actually remember the repeat customers. The manager is always taking inventory and always recognizes me with a kind smile. Glad to have this store in our neighborhood.

So here is my one issue with reviewing a place like 7-Eleven or Burger King or Mcdonalds: all locations have such similar low quality products that it is hard for me to give them below two stars or above three stars. That being said, I frequent these types of establishments constantly and think they serve a great purpose. This 7-Eleven is great for many reasons. The main reason is the fact that there never seems to be a line here. However, The CVS and Safeway next door often have huge lines, so if you just need a couple things(usually gatorade for me) then it is worth spending 10% more so you don’t have to wait in line for 15 minutes. Another thing I like is the employees at this 7-Eleven. Now this might be a little odd, but I don’t remember a single interesting interaction with any of the employee even though I go in a couple times a week. This is perfect for me, I always go in, go to the cashier, they are quick and courteous when ringing me up and then I leave. No small talk, no forced corporate questions, just a quick in and out. A true convenience store. So come here and get your big gulp or lottery tickets and get on your way quickly. F.Y.I. all 7-Elevens have a «Complimentary nacho bar» that comes with free cheese, chili, and I believe some other toppings. The idea behind this is you will buy their over priced nachos next to the bar and load them up. However, if you go to their chip aisle you can get a small bag of tortilla chips for about ¼ of the price and use those instead.
