Tea & Company

You gotta give it to the outdoors Eastern Market vendors. They have to make it through wind, snow, rain and utterly miserable humidity throughout the seasons, as well as set up their own shops and deal with the crush that is Eastern Market weekends. Tea Co is almost always there, and I finally buckled down and bought a few teas from her during last weekend’s massive rainstorm.
Myra, (or the tea lady as I call her in my head), is super nice and very knowledgeable about her loose leaf teas. Although there is more of a health spin on these teas, the four I have tried have all been delicious as well! It’s nice to see good product and good customer service in one business.
Teas are usually $ 6 – 8, and there’s deals if you order 3 or more as well (I got 3 for $ 15). You get a good sized jar, probably enough for at least 25 loose leaf servings, depending on the tea. Here’s the jar:
I’ve tried the Japanese green matcha (I’ve been hunting for this ever since I’ve left Los Angeles), the Mexican Chocolate, the Persian Rose, and Organic Waves of Joy (a lemongrass, gingery herbal that is very soothing). I will definitely have to go back for to try some Rooibos teas. She also has some more basic black, herbal, green and white teas, but if you can’t tell, I’m a tea fiend and have many of those at home already. This is my exotic tea fix!

She also sells a variety of local VA honeys (eucalyptus, elderflower, alfalfa, etc) and some teaware (tea bags, tea balls, etc). She also takes credit card.
LOCATION
I think she tours around other markets, but you can definitely find her on Eastern Market on the weekends. Usually she’s on the North Carolina side of the market.
