Tom is so awesome! When I sat down I was told by one of his regulars that I was about to get the«Rhode Island Experience» and hear his life story. He shined my boots and talked about his grandkids. It was a great experience and the best shoeshine ever(my first time and I had boots). He showed me the plaque he got when the newspaper came for his 100,000th shine(he is not up to 125,000). I walked away feeling like I had a shiny new car! Go see Tom!

About the only place you can find a professional shoe shine anymore is at airports and they are not all created equal. PVD Shines(never knew it had a name) is great. It is usually the same guy(sorry that I have never gotten his name) running the stand with his Steelers Terrible Towel hanging off the side. He gives a great shine to almost any pair of shoes, dress or casual. He is fast but not too fast to be good. He goes into detail and provides a quality shine tailored to the shoe and the condition. I travel through here frequently and will go out of my way to wear a pair of shoes needing a shine to the dismay of my wife knowing that, by the times I board my flight, they will look spectacular. He used to be down near US Airways but it now in a prime spot adjacent to the Starbucks just as you pass through the security checkpoint.

This particular shoe shine kiosk located in PVD airport just past security is hands down the best shoe shine in an airport that I have ever been to. It’s run by a husband and wife team, and the shoe shine is inexpensive, quick, efficient, and the shoe shine guy doesn’t cut corners(takes extra steps like using vinegar to melt salt off shoes, cleans the stepping side and even uses a dressing brush/tool to get at the little crevices at key stitch points). In fact, my experiences at this particular shoe shine is better than all of the many shoe shine places I’ve been to in the state of Rhode Island, including full service repair shops. Worth a stop to keep your shoes/boots looking good when traveling. I make a point of stopping by every opportunity to get.
