Established in 1985.

Since 1985, New Wave Self Defense has offered students more than a school. We have served as a tight-​knit community of friends and family dedicated to excellence in martial arts.

When you walk through the doors at New Wave, you will experience a top-​notch martial arts education, but you will also experience the individual attention that will help you succeed.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Shihan Fernando Fialho was born in the Cape Verdean Islands. There he was inspired into the Martial Arts by Bruce Lee movies. At a very young age he and his cousins (Silas and Sandro Pinto) dressed up as Ninjas and ran around town imitating Ninja movements. These childhood games were the sparks he needed to fly into the Arts. His official training did not commence until he came to the United States at the age of 10.
