Ok Ok Ok… so the update to this review is purely for an employee who works in the framing area. This guy was a superstar in customer service. We came in with a print and were trying to find a frame and wanted a little help with finding a good backing but were planning to frame the print at home ourselves. He was very helpful and explained the different types of mat board and showed us examples. We decided to let him frame the print after we realized that it was going to be a lot more involved than we wanted (if we wanted it to look nice, which we definitely did). However, one thing after another went wrong — from broken glass to machines breaking. He was so nice and apologetic the whole time… but really we were amazed that he kept trying to get it done and done right. We felt like most employees would have just said ‘sorry, xyz isn’t working, so you’ll have to come back some other time’. Not this guy though. He was determined to get us taken care of. He also multi-​tasked really well without showing signs of being too stressed out as the process took about an hour or more so a lot of other customers needed help while he was working on our project.
Not 5 stars though… because we still had to go through the checkout and that’s always an ordeal of unhappy folks.

Hobby Lobby, I might have developed a problem. Their prices are much better than other craft stores, plus they had so much more. Home decorations, lamps, premade wreaths and outdoor decorations
It was great browsing the aisles and I did find a lot of nice things. No shortage of flowers and fabric here. I found the most beautiful picture frames here, and they were on clearance to boot! My only gripe was when it was time to cash out. It took forever and the cashier didn’t seem too happy to be there to be honest. I can deal with that for the great merchandise and awesome prices.

My family loves this store for it’s good selection of holiday decorations at reasonable prices. The kids have a blast picking stuff out to decorate the house for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter ect and for the parties we have during the summer months. They have a large section of craft supplies but what they sell is really only basic stuff because it seems like they try to stuff as many different kinds of crafts into one section of the store. I’ve found that if I need anything beyond a basic everyday craft item I need to go online to find it. For example they sell basic cross stich supplies such as floss and basic aida cloth but if I need a certain color or a fancier linen they don’t carry it and the charts they carry are almost non-​existent.

I have purchased many unique items at this store. I firmly believe that the with 40 or 50% coupon off one item you are not doing half bad. If you had to purchase many items at once that is a different story. I like the customer service and am actually buying something today. This store caters to a wide array of customers. I know women that are homemakers that love it and also a guy in the military that things it’s a cool place too.

I have given up. Lots of supplies and the store is well laid out but there is typically 1 cashier on and the last 3 times I was there I stood in line for 10+ minutes. I can spend the extra couple minutes driving and get the same stuff at Target, AC or Michaels.

I had a horrible and embarrassing experience at Hobby Lobby in Warwick, RI on Saturday. I was simply trying to buy ribbon and when I went to use my tax except card, an actual Hobby Lobby issued card it wouldn’t scan, to which the assistant manager came over to look at my license and paperwork, I always carry our IRS official letter with me, then Manager Mike Malozzi came over and told me «we refuse to accept this, you need a four digit code certificate from the state, your EIN is not valid and you’re not going to pull this on us!» I was shocked! I was just buying ribbon, lol. I had my ID, IRS letter and Official Hobby Lobby tax Exempt card. This manager was way out of line. My 2 year old daughter was with me and it was extremely uncalled for. I will be returning the ribbon today, because the cashier also messed up and didn’t charge me the sale price! I would think that a company with such bad press lately would be going the «extra mile» to treat the customers they have nicely. He was 100% wrong, all my paperwork was correct. Nice customer service!

Worst craft store I have ever been to… and I’m an art student. I bought a $ 33 hole punch for my book binding project that specifically said it could cut through book board and it didn’t. I went back with the receipt and slightly opened but taped package only to get attitude from the manager saying they couldn’t accept my return because I had opened it. I looked over and saw their return and customer satisfaction policy and NOWHERE on it did it say anything about not accepting returns. The manager said «how do you expect me to resell this product??» Um you don’t…you send opened returns back to the manufacturer like every other store would. If you buy anything don’t bother reading their return policy because it’s a lie and you won’t get your money back if you’re disappointed with the product. They don’t care.

Craft stores are really not my thing. Sometimes when I’m feeling pretty crafty (not often) I will venture into Michael’s, Moore’s or JoAnn’s. I hate (I know, strong word) craft stores in general because there is NEVER anyone who is willing to help you, if you can even see a human being that works there on the floor. Secondly, they smell like cheap potpourri and I absolutely hate the smell of cheap potpourri. Finally, when I do go to a craft store, I frequently end up spending a whole ton of money — like often around $ 100 — and I bring the bag home, and it sits and sits and sits until I finally put it into a closet because I have not found the time nor the inspiration to do a craft.
Well, I am here to tell you that Hobby Lobby is way more than your average craft store. Yes, it can be difficult to find someone to help you (however, it is possible to do so if you persevere just a bit). This store is HUGE and I don’t like it that I can’t see any signage explaining what is located where. Other than the fabric department, which is clearly locatable by a very large sign, the rest of the store is find it yourself. I am still giving this store five stars — despite my travails listed above. Here is why: This store has freaking everything! Yes, I am exaggerating slightly. But they sell drawer knobs — dozens of them — twenties of them — maybe a hundred different styles of drawer knobs. I just painted a piece of furniture and wanted to change out the knobs and I found exactly the right knobs there for cheap. In fact, they have sales all the time — I think I got them at 50% off. I noticed that some people had coupons to bring the prices down even more. I suppose you need to subscribe to their email (which I will not do) to get the coupons. You can just locate the coupon on your cell phone and they will accept it from you. They sell fabric and trims and buttons and everything else you need for sewing. I am not a sewer so I can’t attest to the quality or style of the fabric offered — but good to know it’s there — on the bolt — so you don’t have to wait for an order to come in.
This store is so huge, they sell tchotskes of all types. They have a phenomenal assortment of picture frames — the type you could give as a gift and no one would know it was only $ 7 (on sale). Some of these frames are nearly as beautiful as those designed by Jay Strongwater. They sell «stuff» that you can decorate your house with (just don’t use TOO much of it, unless you are going for a tacky overkill look). Signs with cute sayings, blackboards on which to write your own sayings, signs related to baseball, signs related to little frilly girlie ballet things; letters — big ones and small, pillow, platters and pottery! I have been here at least six times (looking for knobs, blackboards, liquid chalk, and other tschotskes and I still have not been in every single aisle of the store. Did I say the store was huge? (It is). It would appear that they have just about every single item anyone could possibly want for craft projects. I do like to stencil, and I have NOT checked out their stencils, so I can’t attest to anything in that regard. All I am saying is that if you need something for your home, there is an excellent chance you can find it there.
The owners of this chain are quite religious. They are closed Sundays so that their employees can «worship and spend time with their families.» There is also more than the usual amount of prayer-​related décor — which you won’t find in Michael’s or Moore’s or JoAnn’s. If you are a prayerful person, you will even love Hobby Lobby more than I do. (If you are non-​Christian, however, you might tend to feel a little bit intimated, since this is not a religious supply store).
When they first opened I swore I would never enter such a huge crafts store (since I don’t like craft stores to begin with — see above) :-) but having embarked on a decorating project for my living room (a gallery wall) I have actually been in there about six times over the past two weeks. So much for my swearing.
Just wanted to let y’all know that if you need SOMETHING — go to Hobby Lobby and you will most likely find it (they even sell candies and snacks if you’re hungry, — pret-​tee pret-​tee over priced, I might add!)

When it comes to what is for sale on Hobby Lobby I always have fun! It’s fun to walk around the colorful and artfully organized displays. They’ve got a great selection for any crafting needs. It’s always clean whenever I go there, no exceptions.
While I always have a great time at Hobby Lobby, it’s always soured when checkout time comes around. The employees always seem unhappy hesitant to help. I don’t expect to be treated like royalty, but it’s not to much to ask for a smile, or a decent attitude. But every time I’ve been there it seems like everyone’s so upset; it makes me feel like I’m intruding to be shopping in their store.

I’m really quite surprised to see all of the 3 star reviews from my fellow Unilocalers; I was expecting a bit more excitement when it came to Hobby Lobby, but not all of us can share the same opinion.
Haven’t not knowing much of H.L. prior to my first visit here this past Saturday, I wasn’t really sure what I was in for. I knew it was a craft store but a craft Mecca? Holy moly. I was in for a treat.
There are rows and rows and rows and row of… stuff! It’s a crafters dream come true! There is everything from home décor to scrapbooking to candles and flowers and fabrics and yarn, wedding supplies, cake decorating and candy making, greeting cards, frames, furniture and art supplies. The prices are okay; I think they’re actually kind of in line with Michael’s and Joann Fabrics and it appeared that there were quite a bit of items on sale at 40% off. I even hopped on my phone and found a 40% off one regular priced item coupon from the Hobby Lobby website that I was able to use at the register upon checkout. I will admit that some of the home furnishings, specifically the shelves, bakers racks and trunks were a tad pricey, even at 30% + off, but it all seemed like it was decent quality. For all of the items that I purchased however; the prices were great and I actually got more bang for my buck with the colored glass mosaic tiles I purchased from Hobby Lobby than I would have if I purchased from Michaels.
I’m not going to lie — this place is overwhelming to say the least. It seems that almost every square inch of this store is covered floor to ceiling with an item. I noticed quite a bit of a religious undertone in some of the home décor, which I’m not a fan of, but after I realized that their home base is in Oklahoma, it all made a little more sense.
As opposed to your typical craft store, there are plenty of things that I saw at HL that I have never seen before at another craft store, such as mason jars in all sizes, beautiful perfume bottles and soap making supplies.
You can bet your little crafty bum that I will most definitely be back to HL for sure, without a doubt. Grab a carriage!

Biggest pain that they aren’t open on Sunday! Must have seen 50 people pull in the parking lot walk to the door only to find out they are closed. While they do have things that Jo-Anne’s or Michael’s doesn’t have the prices are too high. Their fabric dept is very small and it’s a lot of the same thing. NOT IMPRESSED!!!

Hobby Lobby reminds me of the kind of store that would be conceived in a threeway between Woolworths, Joanns, and a Typical Hobby Store. It actually reminded me of the Ben Franklins my mother used to take me to when I was little.
The store is a mishmash of everything: tchotchkes for your house, a bit of a sewing shop off to one side, artificial flowers, yarn/​needlework, paint your own kitsch, 75 million kinds of mason jars to the other, jewellry making and actual hobby things to the back. It’s a little overwhelming, in fact. I lost a good hour of my time, X-​Files style, in here.
So what does this store have that, say, Michaels doesn’t? Model rocket supplies, my friends. My husband pretty much pooped his pants (figuratively, so he says) and turned into a 12 year old when he saw this aisle. I know zilch about blowing things up, but he assured me that this was not only awesome, but had some hard to find stuff too.
Their jewellry supplies section is likewise quite good. I finally had luck finding breakaway clasps (and pretty beads) for my daughter’s. These things are like finding hens’ teeth. To be fair, no one I’ve asked had any idea what they even were, including the helpful, if confused sales associate who thought I meant magnetic clasps. They also had a bigger selection of pendants than other stores, but not as many loose beads, so your mileage may vary here, depending on what you needs.
The fabric selection is relatively small and notions are limited. The prices were a little higher than I’d really want to pay and some of their fabric felt thin and chintzy – I’m looking at you, ginghams. The upholstery fabric is a little more varied and was moderately expensive, but it’s expensive everywhere. I wouldn’t go here specifically for fabric or notions, but they did have a decent clearance selection I’d look at again, if I was already there.
A word about mason jars: they’re the darling of the DIY world right now and Hobby Lobby has this spot on. There’s an aisle and a half of nothing but glassware in every shape, size, and configuration you could imagine. Want a gallon-​sized mason jar? They have it. They also have glass decorator blocks. I don’t know what most people do with these, maybe build terrariums, but hey, they’re different. Mine is going to have a diorama in it.
So now you’re thinking, well, why isn’t this a 5 star review if you like so much stuff there? I have a couple reasons, both practical and petty. The practical reasons: things not on sale are between 50¢ and 2 $ more, on average, than the same thing at Michaels or Joanns. They don’t seem to have as many coupons as their competitors, as another reviewer noted. They’re closed on Sundays, which is usually when my heathen self grocery shops at Trader Joe’s.
Likewise, I am not a huge fan of their rather blatant religious references and I don’t particularly like their political views. My (non-​Christian) husband noted that he felt a little uncomfortable with the amount of signage he saw. It’s not quite enough to knock it totally off my list, but combined with the other factors, I’d mostly be inclined to go here for specific items only.

This store has many interesting items for the home as well as craft items. When I say craft items, that is what I mean. Everything from scrapbooking to wood crafting, fabric, yarn, floral etc. The selection is not as broad as Joann’s.
The home items are one of a kind type things that you might find in homegoods. The novelty type things like «Home sweet Home» and «Kiss the cook» type signs. I found some great items that I have not seen in other stores like perfume spray bottles. I would definately visit again if looking for a gift for a hard to buy for person or something unique to give when you want to make a gift more personal.
OH, and frames are 50% off everyday and you can download a 40% coupon from the web. Also, they have strange hours. They close at 8pm and they are not open on Sunday.

Again, as previously stated by another fellow Unilocal user, it is a combination of Christmas Tree Shop/​Michaels/​AC Moore/​Joanne fabrics. While that sounds amazing to imagine it was very overwhelming as I just didn’t know where to start! The prices were comparable to craft store items. I thought some of the home good type items such as lamps and cutesy signs for your home were somewhat overpriced. This would be a great place to shop if you are looking for a theme type item or gift for someone who has a specific interest as there are aisles designated to certain themes (kids, ballerinas, country, baseball, golf, etc)

Okay the name does nothing for me. «Hobby Lobby» just a little corny to me.
We ended up here on «Opening Day», no wonder there was an enormous line of traffic going into the parking lot.
The Hobby Lobby reminded me of a Christmas Tree Shop/​Michaels/​AC Moore combination. I could have been lost in the aisles for hours and gone extremely broke. They have everything you could imagine, adorable holiday decorations, great home décor, beautiful lamps, mirrors and craft items galore.
If you have someone in your life who has a passion for something specific the Hobby Lobby is the place to go. They have specific items for the golfer in your life, that cowboy, policeman, ballerina… they have it all.
Definitely worth a stop in. Some of the prices are on the high side, as others have mentioned, but they seem like they will have decent sales (or at least my fingers are crossed).

Enough with the cutsey rhymes and baseball references. This is a great new store that is bright clean, and has lot of people to help you out. Prices are kinda high but if you are tired of the other craft places, give it a shot. You’ll be happy.

Rolled into this store on a whim today after seeing a waving guy on Route 2 wearing the «Hobby Lobby OPEN» sign placard. First time ever that advertising gimmick has gotten me to enter a business. EVER. In honor of this special first, I’ve written my first ever poetic review.
Others folks driving by to shop for the meals they’re going to eat.

Went into Hobby Lobby to see what the fuss was all about —
Lots of different folks going in and out.
Found a giant bright store full of yarn, beads, model planes and holiday décor —
Turned around a corner and saw even more…
Fabric, yarn ribbons, frames and a cool chandelier lamp.
To see it all I would have had to set up camp.
Everywhere I looked there was an employee who was willing to chat.
«I need to find jewelry resin»…they said, «I can help you with that!»
Prices were okay… not a hit out of the park.
But if it’s a hobby you have this place will not leave you in the dark.

I like this store. I figured it would be another Michaels or JoAnn Fabrics type store. It is indeed much like these stores, but their selection is better. Prices are on the high side. The store is brand new and VERY bright. They are well stocked in many of the departments. And plenty of employees around to assist you. Not just restocking shelves, but actually there asking if they can assist you. I like their model section, as they have a nice variety of plastic models. They also have a nice selection of Woodland Scenics products, perfect for dioramas, and model trains. I will still prefer to stop into my local hobby shop, but if they are closed this may be my backup place. But do not fret, my fantastic hobby shop friends, Hobby Lobby won’t be putting you out of business anytime soon. They seem to have hit a homerun on their first at bat, lets hope they keep up the good work! Bottom line, check them out!
Oh, and don’t let the reports of how they run a benefits program against women sway your decision to stop by. How they run the program has NO bearing in how the store is run, or how the employees act.
