Apple Ridge Orchards

Meh… did not enjoy this apple orchard and definitely will not be back! There are way better choices in the area.
The cons…
–Not organized, staff range from passable to aloof
–The one and only store has a LIMITED selection of jams, jellies, etc
–Apple cider donuts are tiny more like a munchkin and cost a $ 1 a piece, wouldn’t mind the cost if they tasted good, no other food options
–Saw a male staff member placing donuts on tray with no gloves (yuck)
–No bathrooms just potter potties
— Only one large size bag for apple picking

I had the pleasure of going to apple ridge apple orchards about 2 weeks ago for a fun day out with my boyfriend! It was a chilly October day and as soon as we pulled in we were immediately greeted by an adorable grandma-​esque woman who showed us where to grab some of their fresh hot cider and apple cider donuts to warm us up. We followed her instructions and were not disappointed. I have to say I consider myself a bit of an apple cider donut connoisseur and these did not disappoint they were extremely fresh and delicious! After our snack we purchased one very large bag for $ 28 and went on our apple picking mission. We were a bit late in the season to be picking but surprisingly the trees were plentiful with beautiful apples we ended up filling the bag with several different varieties that later made 3 large pies an apple crisp and an apple a day in our lunches for the next week and a half!!! Before we left we had to of course grab a bakers dozen of those cider donuts for the ride the home! We look forward to coming back next season and seasons to come!

Very expensive $ 28 for a one size fits all bag of apples (if you could find any left on the trees that you could reach) staff was not friendly or helpful. When we first arrived and asked questions we were dismissed bc we did not have a groupon. Should have been my first hint. $ 3 for a hayride in a circle. Wish someone told me the pumpkin patch to the side of the farm animals was the PUMPKIN PATCH. Would have saved myself $ on a hayride. Cash only business w limited parking. Save yourself money and find another farm unless you enjoy being nickel and dimed.

Make you «take a picture» of there map, making it very confusing and inconvenient.
Customer service is horrible, didn’t let us know anything about the apple picking — I. e where we should start, or what the flags on the trees meant etc.
Essentially was only 2 kinds of apples since the others were impossible to find
Only one size bag, 28 $ and is very big so if you only wanted a small amount you can’t pay for a bag smaller.
Save your money, try the other few orchards on Warwick that are much better.

Parking is fairly close to the orchard.

Apple Ridge is such a beautiful place to be. I visited with some friends on a beautiful Sunday morning. There’s plenty of parking to go around and plenty of workers to help you find your way. When you first walk on the grounds you’ll see right away this barn to your right. Trust me, go inside. Your senses will kick in right away… to the apple cider donuts. They’re freshly made on the daily. Among the donuts you’ll find a plethora of other goodies such as: fresh pressed cider, jams, mixes, and more! But my favorite feature — the honey. There’s a bee keeper that extracts the honey right there in front of you! Can’t get any fresher than that.
The orchards themselves are pretty big. They have a wide variety and each type of tree is clearly labeled with the type as well as a short description. For someone who doesn’t know apples, it’s a great feature. One of my favorite is the honeycrisp which they did indeed have. They give you mesh bags; perfect for picking. There’s also a pumpkin patch, farm animals (a cow named charlie, goats named eeny, meany, miney and a sheep named mo) as well as fun cutouts for pictures.
Staff was super friendly and accomodating here and if I am ever in the Warwick area in the fall, I’ll be stopping by here for sure.

Apple Ridge Orchards is located in Warwick, New York. I came here as part of a tour package. At first I couldn’t see the name of the orchard and thought it was U pick apples, as that was the only thing I could see as the car drove into its parking spot. I learned from our Tour guide that large buses are not allowed which was why we came via van and car. I guess they didn’t want all those people at once and too many vans with loads of people running amuck. They had 3 varieties of apples at the time ripe for picking. They were the Macintosh, Honey Crisp and Gala apples.
They also have a chicken coop with 5 lovely looking light brown chickens. Another fences in area had a calf and some goats and sheep. I learned from the lady in the farm store that when the orchard is closed the animals go to another farm.
The lady in the store was pleasant. There is a glass display of live honeybees with the honey combs. They have local honey from these bees. A one pound jar of honey harvested locally is $ 11.00. She commented that last week the guests were not as fortunate as bees had escaped. Yikes! Glad I was not there last week.
They sell other items such as pumpkin bread mix, apple drop cookies mix, various apple and pumpkin butters, various preserves such as blueberry, apple jelly, and peach preserves. They also sell apple cider, cinnamon sticks and some really delicious apple cider donuts. The apple cider donut was $ 1 and totally worth it. They were supposed to have pies, but I didn’t see any at the time.
If you ever want to experience picking your own apples you should give them a try. They also have different varieties of apples and fruit at various times of the year. Some of the apples they also have are Empire, Golden and Red Delicious, Mutsu Crispin, Fujis, raspberries, white and yellow peaches, and Pioneer Macintoshes.
There are also wooden benches on the side, which would be nice for a picnic. They have 2 portable potties if you need a nature break and further on the other side of where we were picking apples is a pond. I had the 10lbs of apples that came with my tour price, but I noticed there is a giant sized bag for picking apples at $ 28.
The honey crisp apples are hard and crispy. They are sweet and slightly tart and the flesh is light and not compact. The gala apples tend to have softer flesh that sometimes becomes mushy. The Macs, I didn’t even bother as I don’t like overly tart apples. The apples from this orchard are delish and so are those apple cider donuts, plus all that fresh air and greenery makes this a four star orchard.

How to respond like ppl like us? What is that suppose to mean!!! Regardless of why the bees were out or not, and although that was not in your ‘control’, there were to many to dodge, and for your information i DID get stung on my arm! I been to other farms around the same time and never experienced the amount of bees that were at your farm, you obviously have an infestation, regardless of how you ‘explained it’.
I am sure you are a dedicated farmer and work hard at your job, as the farm shows, but the amount of bees present made for a very unpleasant experience. I agree my review was harsh, but if there was a way to somehow keep those swarm of bees away from your customers, that would of been ideal. There were other customers swatting and running away from them that morning as well, so this was obviously not intended as an isolated attack on your farm. Even positive rating customers complained about the bees, at different times of the year, so it was not an isolated issue.

What a great orchard! We live in the city and were looking for the «fall farm experience» and we got it. Yummy fresh apple cider donuts and hot cider in a cute farm store, a hayride touring the orchard for the kids and a huge pumpkin patch. We walked around the orchards and there are many varieties of tasty apples and a vast landscape. There’s also plenty of parking on the property. It was about an hr. and fifteen minutes from the city and it is also near Woodbury Commons if you want to head to the outlets after the farm.

The couple that runs this farm is so friendly and wonderful, they have a large selection of apples on their farm. Macintosh, wine sap, golden delicious, honey crisp, empire and several other varieties as well as raspberries and pears. The setting is beautiful, right off exit 16 of the thruway. They have a little petting zoo for kids, hayrides, and apple cider as well. It is a great getaway for the day from NYC! You pass by the town of Florida on the way, home of President Lincoln’s secretary of state Seward (important civil war figure) if you want some culture along the way. Highly recommended in every way!

Hi apple ridge orchards! A few friends and I visited your farm last weekend. While the facility was quite nice (and the apple cider donuts quite tasty!), we spotted some poison ivy along the base of several of your apple trees — and a few friends actually experienced a rash a few days later! I’ve visited several farms in NY state and never had this experience — would be a shame for this to adversely affect your lovely farm’s reputation!

This is a cute apple orchard with some farm animals to look at for kids. Hay rides were happening, but I did not partake.

We went a little late in the season but there were plenty of apples left & lots of pumpkins available.
Watch for SMALL AMOUNTS of poison ivy around the base of some of the trees, my husband has an eye for it so we didn’t have any issues.
I am also directionally challenged so it would be nice to have ‘road’ signs around the orchard to show where you are on the map!

We’ve been going to Warwick to pick apples for more than 10 years, but nothing prepared us for the intimacy, hospitality, and real genuine value that this place offers. No entrance fee — just really fresh apples — 15 different varieties, delicious apple cider donuts that taste like they were made just an hour or so before we got there, and tasty apple ciders, too — included in the price to pick apples. Friendly staff and even some farm animals that made some loud noises to keep the kids occupied for a few more minutes! And they were nice enough to point out some good restaurants nearby. Can’t wait until they expand their farm store. These guys (twin brothers, apparently, who are the owners) really know their stuff. Two thumbs up!

On a mid-​Autumn Sunday along with good sincere friends, I came here in hopes to stock up with a variety of apples-​specifically Fuji, Jonagold, or Braeburn. For $ 22.00 patrons are given a one peck bag. To my disappointment Fuji were unavailable. The grounds of this orchard are extremely uneven where many patches contain mid-​size pot holes enough to swallow patrons whole into the Earth. Apple Ridge Orchards does not display signage of the genre name of apples by aisle for each cluster of trees, which left my party and I baffled to determine the correct names by memory and with our cellular phones for internet resource. The grass is overgrown to bushy shrubs which makes it difficult for walking as it appears staff does not maintain its grounds or a clean healthy surrounding for their apple trees.
At the entrance patrons can purchase apple cider juice, donuts, or bottle water.
