We had to wait about 5 – 10 for someone to even recognize that we were there waiting for a table. The food was bland. Sangria was disappointing. Service was mediocre. This place ridiculously over priced. We were excited about trying a new place, but will certainly not be back. The only good part was the live music.

We went here for the first time one rainy afternoon for some appetizers and drinks. The drinks were pretty good but we were really disappointed with the food. We didn’t finish anything we ordered and left still hungry. The waitress was new but she did a good job and was friendly. The décor is cool and I like that there’s something different in Warrenton, but we wouldn’t return based off this experience.

I came across this place accidentally while looking for JoAnn Frabics. I was surprised to find a Cuban restaurant in the area. I am from North Bergen, NJ and grew up with Cuban food so I went to check this place out but no one was there to attend. I saw other customers having their meals but no one was at the bar or entry. I waited for a couple minutes and no one ever came by so I just left.

We gave it another try because we used to love this place so much. The service was nothing short of great, the food and drinks arrived with perfect timing, and everything was cooked to perfection. MUCH better experience all-around, like it used to be.

Ok my Unilocal friends. you know I don’t like to write bad reviews but I just couldn’t help myself only because of the way the owner/manager responded to me. Ok so where do I begin… I called at 430 asked the nice young lady who answers the phone if they could accommodate our large party. She said yes and I told her we would be there between 645⁄7. I told her were we celebrating my daughter’s 2nd birthday and that we will be driving an hour to eat there since my father in law had eaten there previously and raved about this place. Upon arrival we were nicely greeted and sat down at the table that was pre prepared for us. We put our drink order in which took some time then we put our food order in. An hour went by which we didn’t realize how long it had been our kids were getting over tired given the fact that none of them are over the age of 11 and all had school the next day. Our waitress brought us more bread which was nice but we wanted our food. I didn’t know it took an hour to bring out a side salad the kids ordered their steak which came out burnt my father-in-law’s Steak came out burnt and the other food was just ok. The waitress was very apologetic and told me that the chef was under a lot of pressure and that she’s not sure what happened. Here’s the thing the restaurant had three other tables that had two people at of each the other two tables with the other waitress got their food way before us and left before we even got our food as well… something’s not right here. The waitress said I’m so sorry and offered us free dessert. It was getting late and we just said fine we’ll just take the desert to go but we would at least like to know happy birthday for my daughter oh and by the way that never happened she said they only had one tres leche and one flan left and the churros never happened either or the ice cream. I had asked several times if she had called the manager she said she would but clearly that never happened. The other waitress decided to take 15% off our check and our waitress kept apologizing. We ended up leaving with very tired children and leaving the restaurant just shy of 9 p.m. I saw the sign in the bathroom about a realtor and I over heard are young waitress say that the manager’s name is Jackie so I put two and two together and figured that might be the manager. I called the number on her business card which was her cell phone and the first thing I said was hello I apologize for calling so late but I’m not sure if your waitress reached out to you but we had an issue at the restaurant. She said that no one called her and asked me what happened she kept cutting me off and didn’t let me finish and became extremely defensive telling me,” that they should have called me I would have been there in less than 5 minutes I’ve had that chef for 9 years, I’ve never had complaints, I have repeat customers never had an issue.” I went on to tell her that the waitress said it was a chef fault and that we were very disappointed in that the steak was burned and that we never got to celebrate our daughter’s birthday with a candle and then she kept telling me I don’t know what happened and that shea never had issues. And she closed at the end of the conversation with th is comment, «I apologize profusely to you what else do you want?» Now when I called her I was not rude I was actually very pleasant and I told her I actually tipped your waitress very well because clearly she said it was not her fault. The meal cost just shy of $ 150 so wasn’t a cheap meal and the manager then says to me what we had a large party before you so maybe that was the issue so again not assuming responsibility. So after she apologized to me I told her that how things were handled with you know probably not the best way I wasn’t angry I just wanted her to know and as another business owner to business owner I was disappointed. Again she said that she has been in business for a long time and she has repeat customers and it and it was just the one time incident. She also blame me for order the steak medium well and that you can’t order that way. I then said well your waitress should have said something. Here’s the thing I may have been okay with it l, but the fact of how she apologized and the condescending tone in her voice really did not sit well with me. As a business owner I would have offered to refund the meal and invited you back to come back to my restaurant which she did not do because clearly she does not care and that saddens me. I guess she has enough business to keep her sustained and I guess her repeat customers are super super happy like she says. I mean even her 22 year old waitress was nicer to me and ask me I really hope you give us another chance I’m really sorry. Her apology was clearly sincere but not the owners. We will not be going back and we will not be referring anyone may want to think twice about going to this place.

My husband, son and I have eaten here several times and each time our meals have been right on point. The food is excellent, the staff was very attentive. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back.

This is one of the worst if not THE worst restaurants in Warrenton, VA. This place is more of a clubhouse for the owner’s friends. Unless they know you, you will not get good service here. In fact they will openly ignore you and then be openly put out that they have to deal with you. I live in Warrenton and I’ve been roped into going more than once. It has been a repeat performance every time. In fact today, 6÷23÷15, I sat at the bar for a full ten minutes with no bartender behind the bar at all. Mind you her friends all had food and drink. I finally became aware of three different employees over in the server stand watching me. When I flagged one over again she was openly upset that I had interrupted her and I was made to feel unwelcome. A common occurrence at this establishment. The drinks are ok. The food is average. Everything is over-priced. And there are no words to describe how bad, unwelcoming, and holier-than-thou the service is. DONOTGOHERE!

This was a great place for mojitos and tapas. The grilled calamari was a nice light dish and the crab quesadilla was delicious with its cream cheese filling. The garlic shrimp were just okay and the pork chunks were great.

First time visitor. I’ve never had Cuban food. There was a very large retirement party going on a few tables away and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The waiter pointed out the tapas menu as well as telling us about the main menu. We chose the tapas special on the bottom — 5 tapas for $ 30. Daughter and I just loved it! Fried plantain, fried yucca(they look like French fries), mashed potato balls with ground beef stuffing, ham croquettes and pork cubes. It came with about 6 or 7 different sauces in small containers. It was WONDERFUL! I brought home 2 containers of food — there was so much! Also, I confess I stuffed myself on the bread and dipping sauce — olive oil, garlic and lemon. Far better than the standard olive oil and herbs at so many other places. Service was good. The waiter took the time to explain each thing we ordered as well as the sauces. My favorite? The pork cubes and the ham croquettes. The entrees are a bit pricey for my cheapskate tastes, but I do plan on going back.

Wouldn’t of even given a 1 star but I didn’t have a choice. POOREST customer service I’ve ever experienced. The OWNER was super tipsy when she approached us. One person already stationed up front, didn’t even greet us when we walked in. I assumed it was because she didn’t speak any English, but apparently I was wrong. Didn’t think you needed to dress up, considering this place isn’t THAT fancy. I figured jeans but to my surprise, I saw a lot of business casual. This restaurant is way too small for my liking. Super claustrophobic. The service turned me off so bad, that I literally turned around and walked out and didn’t even care to taste their food. I am HUGE on customer service. You lack it, and you won’t ever find me stepping foot in your restaurant again. This shack is just way too hyped up– not as anywhere near that«grand» as it looks and seems. SAVEYOURMONEY– not worth it whatsoever.

My husband and I love this place. The food is delicious, I always get the black bean soup w/the works. The owner is lovely, friendly and always around. We love the options, the ambiance and the prices. We highly recommend taking a date out to enjoy some good Cuban food.

Somewhat disappointing. Does it seem to you that you always compare something… to that something else? I suppose it’s what we do. It’s like that first authentic Cuban sandwich you had. you remember the aroma of the fresh warm bread wafting through the air as you take the first bite of the explosive fresh flavor of the fantastic blend of roast pork and ham blended with the remarkable combination of tasty pickle and mustard. Which is why this place gets a 3 star review for their Cubano. I give them props for a better than average bowl of black beans which is kicked up by the mix of fresh cilantro & sour cream. Raven was quite pleasent and professional but even her country charm and wit couldn’t boost this review even a half-star. Probably better for mojitos than Cubano’s.

Still had a great mojito here, but found the rest to be a bit, well, meh. Ingredients and flavors are becoming too Americanized for my taste. I’m not seeing the Spanish/Cuban influences of years gone by.

This place was really cool. The atmosphere was really nice. The service was marginal, but the good food made up for it. We had a party of four and tried six different Tapas from the menu. The Classic Mojito was Excellent. My wife had two and thought they were awesome. The bill for four adults, with drinks was a 100. Fine food. One serious thought though. We got the crap dip for 9.95 and it came with a good crap dip, but they gave us eight saltine crackers. The same crackers you get at Walmart. At least give us some nice breads or higher end crackers, but Saltine’s? Really. Recommend you pass on that dish just because of that. Even the waitress couldn’t defend that when we asked her. She agreed. We look forward to our next visit there though.

A group of friends and I went to lunch here over the weekend. There was 5 of us and we warned the wait staff we would probably be a loud, boisterous group as we hadn’t all been together for 8 months. Our server took this in stride and even seemed to appreciate that we were a rather rowdy(but polite) bunch. Everything we ordered was excellent — the food was delicious and it came out of it kitchen FAST! The drinks were amazing — perhaps the best mojitos I’ve ever had and definitely the best caipirinha I’ve had since I was in Brazil. Excellent drinks. The ceviche was delicious, as were the other tapas we ordered. The service was friendly and attentive. The cost was reasonable, and they didn’t mind that we sat there for 6 hours on a Sunday afternoon. I’d definitely go back again.

Pretty bad… My wife & I went here for our anniversary last week. We hadn’t been in a few years, but remember it as being really good. Well, things have gone down hill… way down hill. For starters, it was«Mojito Monday» so I ordered their original mojito. Terrible. No sweetness(like they left out the sugar), and there was no mint flavor(like the mint was old). Next, we ordered the loaded chips(basically nachos). The chips were store-bought, and literally just dumped out of a bag. They were covered with black beans, shredded cheddar, salsa and sour cream. They came out cold. Our waitress(who barely spoke English, btw… and no, she wasn’t Cuban) asked if we wanted it heated. When we replied that we did, she took it back to the kitchen, popped it in the microwave for a minute, and brought it back out. It still wasn’t hot, but since she just heated it with the sour cream & salsa, I guess she couldn’t leave it in too long. [Note: Our waitress actually TOLD us she threw it in the microwave. That wasn’t just our assumption.] Before ordering, we inquired about the Caribbean egg rolls. Our waitress(again, language barrier) said that she didn’t really know because they«come covered». This led me to believe that they are frozen and Mojitos & Tapas just throws them in fryer — nothing freshly made there. We ordered them anyway, but alas, they were out. We decided on the Cuban Pork, Garlic Shrimp, and Roasted Potatoes with Mojo Sauce. The pork was good. The shrimp(while a little over-cooked) wasn’t bad, but the potatoes were just roasted potatoes. There was NO Mojo sauce. Baffling. I don’t know if this place has new management(and I use the term loosely) or what’s going on, but we were not impressed. I doubt we’ll be going back.
