Wally Spice Photography specializes in contemporary wedding photography, portrait photography for babies, children, families and pets. WSP Seniors is a division that specializes in cutting edge high school senior photography, headed by Julie.

2013 is our 20 Year anniversary for weddings! We are a family of professional photographers of Wally Spice, her daughter Julie Proudfoot & her new husband Ed Westwood. Even her 2 teenage boys help. For the last 2 years we have enjoyed a studio space in Warren on Hoover Rd north of 13 Mile Rd. We photograph sessions in studio as well as on location.

History

Established in 1993.

We have been capturing the most precious moments of your life for 20 years, celebrating our 20th year in 2013! We vow to show that we are just as vibrant and innovative as when we started and will work hard to keep growing and be the best we can be!

We had been working out of a home but for the last 2 years we have enjoyed a studio space in Warren to expand our offerings.

Julie is the current president of the DPPA — Professional Photographers of Detroit; Wally is a past president. Ed is on the board of PPM — Professional Photographers of Michigan and will be president in a few years. Wally Just finished her term on the board.

Ed is the top 7 Master photographer of PPM and has won numerous awards for his stunning competition prints.

We believe keeping up with the newest skills and trends in our ever changing industry and teaching others is very important. Julie and Ed are doing some teaching in the professional Photography organizations around the country.

Business Owner

Wally Spice is the owner or Wally Spice Photogrpahy and her daughter Julie Proudfoot s the co-​owner Wally started the company 20 years ago out of her home with mainly weddings, which we still love. They have worked as a creative team for over 15 years. Julie is spearheading the Portrait end or the business at the new studio location in Warren. She has found her niche in photographing high school seniors with a creative, unique, fun twist that the seniors love and cannot experience elsewhere. Her new husband Ed Westwood is a master photographer and an integral part of the company. Julie’s boys Aaron and Steven also help. We are a family of photographers and love it.

Julie did an amazing job shooting our wedding! The photos are fantastic and she was friendly and fun to work with. Aaron and Jeff assisted her for the day, and both of them were great as well. They had warned us ahead of time that some of the things they asked us to do would seem weird, but would look cool after the fact, and they were right. Honestly, I had a really good time just chatting and hanging out with them in between shoots and whatnot, which is just an added bonus on top of the amazing job they did.
Julie also took some photos of our dog. I wasn’t so sure how well that would go: she’s a fidgety little thing and unless she’s sleeping, I’ve never got a photo of her that wasn’t blurry. Julie’s shots came out great though!

I was a neighbor of Julie at Wally Spice and babysat her boys when I was a teenager, and always admired her work. When I became engaged to my husband, there was no question who I would ask to be our wedding photographer — I had seen her phenomenal work throughout the years and wouldn’t trust my big day with anyone else.
Julie did not disappoint. She even flew out to Washington DC to take our engagement pictures (on a weekend it reached 90+ degrees nonetheless) and captured some amazing shots. She really has a sense of the best angles to take with each setting and directs you in a way that still looks completely natural in the pictures.
The pictures from our wedding were even more fabulous. We did a photo shoot at my parents’ house, an urban shoot in downtown Detroit and Belle Isle, and of course more at the ceremony/​reception venue. We have fantastic shots from each of the photo shoots, and had a terribly hard time choosing which to put in an album out of all the pictures we had (it literally took us over a year to select all the pictures!).
All around, Julie’s photos are gorgeous — I’m so glad we didn’t look anywhere else for a wedding photographer! Not only are the pictures great, but she is wonderful to work with; very easy going, flexible, but also has some great suggestions based on her experience.
She also does great portraits — we did a photo shoot of our dog (yes, we are THOSE kind of people) and I can’t tell you how cute our baby looks (and I also can’t tell you how Julie worked her magic and got her to stay still — every picture we have taken of her ourselves is a blurry mess!).
Fantastic photography business — I would not recommend anyone else.
