I’m going to give two of the exact reviews here… however they are for two different stores. You see, on 12 Mile and I-75… there is a faceoff… seperated by one small street. It is Lowes vs. Home Depot. Honestly… they built the two home repair giant stores across the street from one another. Has this honestly been the strangest thing ever? Well… yeah. The only time its better is when one of the stores doesn’t have anything, then you know you’re about to be bum rushed to having to pay higher prices at the other store, because THAT was the reason why it was sold out at the original store you went to. A strange world we live in… Everyone there is usually friendly and more than helpful to get you what you need. So I’d have to give both stores props on that one.

just hopped in to find something, they had something similar but not close enough to buy, a couple employees that I dealt with were friendly, professional, and informative. I have been here before and never found any problems.

I may be named for a plant, but my affinity for botany manifests itself in empathy and appreciation for flowers rather than a distinguished green thumb. Every so often I defy the reality I am not cut out to be a super gardener and descend, lofty plans and designs in mind, upon the garden centres at Home Depot or Lowe’s in an attempt to save a penny over English Gardens and other hoity toity greenhouses. Finding spring bulbs brought about a pit stop near the end of season into this Lowe’s. I checked the website for availability of mixed bulbs because why have dull yellow narcissi when you can have striped, double, pink, yellow, and orange duckling daffodils? Forget stately red tulips that would make a Dutchman swell with pride, I want the pride parade of tulips that would make a Ferndaler squeak with glee. I should’ve known better when I reached the nearly barren garden centre. No matter, I thought, it’s chilly enough outside that the bulbs were probably within. The ominous«Bulbs are inside if we have any left» response from a friendly associate set me scampering through the aisles to find perhaps the most wretched display of spring bulbs seen this year. A few picked over bags were present in a display neglected behind a Christmas tree. Seriously, it’s the first week of October and light-spangled artificial firs have overtaken jonquils, crocuses, and dwarf bearded irises? Woe to living in a zone five! I picked over the remnants and found little to my liking. Absolutely frustrating since the website said the store had a far wider selection in stock than it actually did. Maybe they update quantities once every 100 days on Lowe’ or the staff hoarded bulbs to themselves, hoping they’ll be worth as much as gold when the dollar is rendered defunct and a floral economy is instituted during the Zomney apocalypse. The associates being helpful and apologetic nets them a higher star rating, but the absence of stock was a real bummer.

We went to Lowes at 13 and Van Dyke this morning to purchase a large amount of Bathroom fixtures(we are remolding 2 bathrooms) we receive a 10% off total purchase coupon that we were going to use. We were in the flooring department and were choosing Tile for 2 bathrooms and the Kitchen. The staff was very cold, harsh and was visably disinterested in what we wanted. He told us that almost ALL the tile displayed were out of stock and they were not getting them in any more, they just have not completed the redisplay. When we asked why there were no signs displayed they told us that if the Tile was not under the display we didn’t have and walked away! When we aked for a manager we were told that they were all in a meeting and did not attempt to contact them. I steped outside and called Home Depot and asked them if they would honor a Lowes Coupon and told them what happened and they told us to come over and they would not only honor it but gave us a Designer to walk with us. GREATJOBHOMEDEPOT! I am glad you got our 7 thousand Dollars and NOTLOWES.

Can you believe this — this store manager will not honor sales prices at other local stores! We wanted to buy a small carpet which was on sale at the Lowes in Madison Heights. They were out, but located one at the Warren store(13/Van Dyke). At check out, the price was $ 70 dollars more than the sale price. We questioned it and had to go to customer service. They called the John R store verified the price, then checked with their in store manager who said, «No, they wouldn’t honor that price.» What?! We said, keep the carpet. We later bought the same carpet at the 16/Ryan store for the sale price. The biggest kicker! Lowes has a sign posted stating they will match any price! Apparently, that means any competitor’s price, not their own store prices. Crazy.

I prefer Lowes to Home Depot. Prices & location being two of my main reasons why. This Lowes has some really good people to help you if you have any questions, I also love all the contractors they have sent my way to install various things around the house(front & back doors, chimney work, dishwasher installation & most recently my gutters).
