As Donut Express in St. Clair Shores is typically my donut go-to, I was happy to find Donut Factory, which is close to home for me. I visited them around 11pm, and they still had plenty of donuts! Yay! Their Long John’s are HUGE-biggest I’ve ever seen! It was the best Long John I’ve ever had too! So fresh and full of custard! Not a custard-less bite-which is rare. They charge $ 7 for a dozen, which is pretty fair, in my opinion. Everything tasted really fresh and very flavorful. The only downfall I saw, was their Jelly Sticks could’ve used more jelly, and are better for coffee dunking than not. Their variety was smaller than what I expected, but that could’ve been due to the time of day I visited as well. The lady at the counter was very welcoming and happy to serve. Definitely will be back!

Solid diner. Soup was good, and BROASTEDCHICKEN was to die for. Nothing fancy, and really worth your time if you find yourself in Detroit.

Been going here for years. The donuts are fresh and plentiful. I love the old school counter and the variety of patrons. The coffee is always hot and fresh. However, I suspect they use some kind of non dairy cream. GROSS… BUT I’m giving them 5 stars because the donuts are that good.

Ok donuts, but they’re open all night so that’s worth a few stars already. The glaze I got was pretty dry. The chocolate honeydip was good. The blueberry one looked good, but a cat ate it before I could, so tough to know.

Quaint diner with an old school feel to it. I stopped in for lunch which I highly recommend. Roast beef Sammy and some excellent soup for less than $ 6. I don’t know how places like this stay in business with such low prices. I’ve heard their pasties are excellent and will probably be my lunch next week. Much better than JJs with lower prices and local owners. A real local bright spot in an otherwise capitalistic corridor.

One of my favorite donut stores. The staff always has a smile on their face and they are open 24 hours on the weekdays which is very convenient. I also really like the bags that they use that say«you deserve a donut» because you know, I really do deserve a donut. The cherry chip cake donut is very good. I am also a big fan of the butter milk donut. Wish there was a little more variety in the selection, but beyond that not really much to complain about. A very good donut store.

Been patronizing this diner for 10 years or so; typically get take-out. Small diner with counter even to sit at… no ritz and glitz here. I can’t believe no one else has mentioned the fried chicken – hands down the BEST you will find locally. Donuts are great – depending on what time of day you get them! Their sandwiches are divine, as are the pasties. Ah BUT. The counter help IS short tempered and DOES expect you to already know what you like and want. It’s hard to get past the attitude, but REALLY, just give it back to her and get your order in. It’s worth it in the end. Oh, the«punchkies» on Fat Tuesday –phenomenal and reasonably priced. Try it!

Really great small diner place. The pasties filling is a lot like the Mackinaw City pasties that I love but the crust is much softer and thicker. More like a pie crust! Really enjoyed it though and it’s only $ 4.50 for one! They also have turkey, and spinach&cheese. Would definitely come back.

After passing this place for 5+ years, I finally walked in to see what they’re about lol. Prices are reasonable and spacious dining area. I will say their donuts are awesome – fresh and light unlike the kind you get from Kroger. Cruellers are great too! As far as their deli, it’s B+ –fairly priced and basic ingredients include deli meat and lettuce, tomato, etc… nothing too fascinating or fancy. They’re family owned and everything they sell is made there, including bagels and their cookies/brownies. I come for their donuts :)

I like the old-time diner feel of this place, but I’m not 100% sold on its quality. To be fair, I’ve only ordered a donut and a couple cookies. The donut was good — chewy and moist, with a custard filling that tasted like it came out of a big bucket. The cookies were stale and crispy. But I’m interested in trying a sandwich at their little deli, and maybe their bagels. As of now, I’m not completely impressed, but I’ll update when I come back and try out more stuff here. Their prices are very reasonable(2 for $ 1 cookies, $.85 single donut). UPDATE: Updated from 3-stars to 4-stars. I came here again recently, and ordered a half-dozen donuts. $ 4, not bad at all. This time I came more early in the morning(~7am), and the donuts were fresh and more various than last time — they must just bake them in the morning and sell out whenever. But the donuts were great, some of the best I’ve had(Cops & Donuts in Clare, MI, and Knapps in Troy, MI come to mind as better). I will certainly come here again.

The donuts are good. The sub was not so great. Mushy bread. Must have been day old. Ordered a chocolate top custard donut for my toothless 82 year old mother. Got home to a chocolate top custard donut COVERED with crushed peanuts. The counter staff are short and uninterested. They rush ya through as if everyone has been a 20 year customer and should know exactly what they want. Busy place but geeze, not sure I will return. No comfortable or welcome feeling here. The coffee was the best. Styro cups are so thin that if you have to squeeze it to get your hand around it be careful. They are thin and cheap. Coffee inside was wonderful though. Guess if I went up a few times a week and sat at the counter I might start to feel more welcome. Must not need new business.

I don’t know what it is about this place, but every time I’ve passed by late at night, there are always a bunch of old guys sitting around reading the paper and drinking coffee. Taking some advice from a few friends, I stopped in last night for a post-bar treat. I have to say that I was disappointed by the glazed donut. It needed about 4x more glaze, otherwise it was pretty plain overall. The pasty though was quite different. My boyfriend loves pastys(that seems to be one of his go-to food cravings) and he ordered a beef one. It was warmed in an ever so classy microwave and given a side of gravy. I’ve only had the pastys from the Pastry Peddler in Ann Arbor(those are divine!), but I think the Donut Factory’s weren’t too bad. It was packed full of meat, but the pastry itself was a little thin and flavorless. It was huge though; literally the size of half a pie!

This place should be investigated for terrorism… they terrorized my taste buds with delicious donuts. I was hard for five hours after eating a vanilla cream donut with a coffee.

I have stopped in here a couple of times after loading up on pet supplies at K9 Specialties, because I was Jonesing for a donut. First time I tried a jelly donut — would give it about a 3.5 stars out of five. Second time, I got a chocolate honey cake donut. It was divine! Crispy not greasy on the outside and light on the inside. I also picked up a beef pasty and gravy. It was pretty good! Again, about 3.5 stars. It think it was under 4 bucks! I don’t know about anything else there, but donuts and pasties… definitely worth a try.
