Musty smelling in the hallways, the owner sits in the 3rd floor smoking cigarettes and stares at guests. The TV channels are analog, it’s 2016 channels should be all digital. The Internet is slower than dial up, makes me want to pull my hair out. Never again, very outdated and needs updates from tv, Internet to carpets.

I should have turned around and walked out when I almost tripped over the migrant farm worker sleeping in the hallway at 2am, or maybe even before that as the dude(who was clearly high on bath salts,) in the parking lot watched me unpack my trunk while continually grunting and repeating the phrase«headlights, headlights!» I should have know then… In retrospect. But alas, tiredness, a bucket of Coronas, and some undercooked wings prompted me and my co-director to ignore these signs and just turn in for the night… In my(slightly impaired) judgment, this Super 8 didn’t seem very off from the many others I have frequented over the years — The Super 8 is generally at the bottom of my cleanliness threshold, but enough above that line that I can endure it for $ 30. It was dingy but passable. No frills, as expected. I would have just left it at that until… A panicked 7am call from said co-director —(both of us generally preferring to sleep until 10 am,) and I knew something was amiss. In an uncharasterically panicked tone, he implored«Dude, we have to get out of here — bedbugs!» As I fumbled for my Advil with the other hand, I rubbed my eyes and asked him to repeat himself — what!!! «Yes, I’m not kidding, I have bites all over me and my hands are swollen to twice their normal size. I am leaving all of my bags here and we need to go.» I jumped into action, pulled back all of the sheets, mattress and box spring(as I normally do upon arriving at every hotel, but had somehow been too lazy to do on this trip) and was releived to find nothing in my bed. I packed as fast as I could and met him in the parking lot — alone and traumatized. The management seemed concerned but has yet to respond to his request for a refund, and I would be surprised if anything has been done about the bedbug problem, given the homeless population in the hallways at all hours and the dingy, dirty caste to the entire interior. This is a military town and it’s hard to find a cheap place, but the Jameson Inn down the road HAS to be better, and for only $ 20 more, your sanity and health are well worth that premium.
