Fresco! Chop and Ale House

Hit or Miss… some times we get a great meal from there… other times not so much. Food takes a long time… wait staff is ok depending on who you get. It used to be our go-​to neighborhood place when they were Catalano’s but something is missing here.

Former owner of Catalano’s over in East Fishkill, I found it to be a step down as I was a frequent visitor to Catalano’s in the past and really liked it… The look of the place from the outside is dated and unwelcoming…
you have a non descript seating area with décor that looks misplaced and strange like it was taken from a yard sale… the place also needs to be cleaned. looks like it was a rushed opening the tiles on the floor where their from the previous establishment and at least should have been professionally cleaned. nobody wants to look at dirty grout in a tile floor when eating. the mens room, easily one of the dirtiest bathrooms that I have ever been in. no paper towels and soap. the décor looked like it was thrown together and then left to rot…
our waitress was very young and was unable to really explain anything on the menu, she did not share any of the specials with us until we already ordered and asked about specials so poorly trained…
salad was dull and some of the vegetables looked a little old… food was just ok, my mom had the steak which looked tough and fatty… burger was decent… I was given less then a childrens size portion of fries.
.I was almost tempted to ask for more but after waiting for a long period of time for the for the food and for the waitress to return just wanted to eat and get out of this place,.

also don’t order the pizza here… used to be good at Catalano’s now just terrible, loaded with oil, not enough sauce and tasteless…
this new place was a disappointment.

Easily the worst meal and «service» I’ve had in a long time.
My fiancé and I were there tonight for the first time. Upon walking in, the grouchy woman who «greeted» us simply said «come on» in her gruff baritone indicating that we should follow.
We were seated essentially on top of the next table (in a nearly empty room) where I was forced to stare directly at a column.
The wine we ordered was a Primitivo. I have no idea what we were actually served but it tasted as though it had stared to turn.
The complimentary salad was limp ice berg, wilted shaved carrot and 1 piece if cucumber. Ew.
We had an order of mozzarella sticks which were to have been served with marinara sauce and garlic aioli but came only with marinara. The sticks were heavily breaded and the sauce flavorless.
AFTER appetizers were cleared we were informed, without apology, that they had sold out of the rib eye the my fiancé had ordered was sold out. Again, no apology.
When his finally came out, he had been without a beverage for about 20 minutes. His steak was tough, lacked salt and the side of fries (yes, fries) were limp.
My chicken parm sat in a pool of excess water from the undrained pasta. The chicken had a horrible flavor, sort of like burned oil.
When the waitress came back to ask how our meal was (which we had pushed away) we asked for the check (she didn’t ask what was wrong).
In summation: unfriendly, unapologetic, inedible.

We have been to Fresco’s twice in the last month and find it to be a great little restaurant.
The wait staff is outstanding, the food terrific and atmosphere very nice.
The home made bread with your choice of warm butter or gralic olive oil and grated cheese is very good. The soups were served hot and very tasty. Our main courses were the same on both visits: Stuffed flounder and Shrimp Scampi. The pasta was right on and the veggies were ala dente.
On both visits we were very full and did not taste any of the desserts… Next time!

Chicken Parmigiana, tremendous; Penne Michael Angelo, savory; Fettuccine Carbonara, sinfully delicious. Nice job, Fresco. We’ll be back.

I got takeout and it was fresh and packaged well. I had to wait but it was worth it. I will go back. I didn’t check the restrooms but entrance was accessible and disAbled parking is available.
