New Wave Seafood

Always reasonable, fish is as fresh as you can get. We have been going here for several years and have never been disappointed. Great specials cooked to perfection.

I had the broiled seafood platter. The scallops were tasteless. .shrimp were ok sole was good. Service was ok. Would I return… nope. others in the area much better.

My wife and i just shared the lobster bisque, delicious. I had the fire cracker shrimp tacos, nice mild heat, delicious. My wife had the shrimp quesadilla, also delicious.
Wait staff very nice and attentive.

I have been going occasionally since it opened — restaurant side not fish market. I usually get take out but have dined in. Overall the food is good but sometimes a bit bland. I find the soups absent of taste and had better canned soup. But to be fair the fried seafood is good while I am not a fan of shrimp salad New Wave has a very good shrimp salad and the flounder is one of my favorites. There sandwiches are good and priced very fair. If you are in the mood for seafood stop in. Overall the food is good priced reasonably — service is generally good and attentive BTW I have almost every item on the menu. In comparison to the local completion they are well priced and food is good but not much in the way atmosphere but I am more interested food than atmosphere. While good and no complaint it is just short great. The staff seems to do their best. I recommend you try it for dinner or lunch, maybe date night if you do that. I believe I am in line with the other reviews most are accurate. BTW closed restaurant is closed every Monday

The food is fresh, always. I keep coming back and my sole (stuffed) with crabmeat was on point. I have tried most and all have been good

I am a fan of this place on occasion. I like seafood my hubby doesn’t. We get the take-​out. I’m giving 4 stars for the fresh food, coconut shrimp and the restaurant staff. The staff or should I say the Owner/​Mger on July 4^th was the worst at the market. If you are going to be open on a holiday don’t crybaby about it to the customers ! OMG I didn’t get to tell him (cause he wouldn’t shut up about it) but I worked as a waitress at McCluskey’s Steak House in the 70s & early 80s & I worked every holiday ! Christmas too! With a smile on my face. I didn’t make my customers feel like it was their fault I as there like he made me. Guess that’s why I did good in the tips dept.. Clams are good all is good but when you have a bad taste in your mouth to begin with, well… Can’t wait for this new seafood joint to open up in Seaford. Happy 4^th mr manager

I ordered the lobster bisque which was very good. For dinner I ordered the seared ahi tuna and it smelled burnt and it tasted burnt as well. So I showed the waitress and had her smell it and she said it was burnt and said she was sorry. They didn’t nothing to the bill. I figured after eating only a few pieces they would of taken it off the bill but no they did not. I’m surprised they didn’t. The place is good for fresh seafood but I don’t think I would come here again after this night. Very disappointed.

Once again we had the need for fresh clams and fish so we journeyed to Wantagh to visit NWS. We have never seen a crowd, usually only a couple of tables taken. This is no indication on the quality of their food because its pristeen and delicioius! We had a dozen top necks raw (tasted fresh from the ocean) and half dozen Clams Oreganata, which has the most fantastic garlilc sauce I have ever tasted… both orders of clams were great. Our entres were equally as good. I had the special Sword Fish Oreganata (same sauce. mmm!) and Bonnie G. had an appy portion of the seared sesame crusted tuna with seaweed salad. The Sword Fish was a great portion cooked to perfection and blew me away! It was that good… The tuna was seared sushi grade tuna that was also delish.
My only observation on a negative side is that they hire young teen girls to handle the restaurant and the service is spotty. They hang out at the register and when a bell goes off in their heads they know to check on their tables… not often enough!
But, fine dining this is not! so since the food is great we overlook that and give it 4 stars.

Not a fish lover at all but this place was very good. I ate fish and would do it again!

Maybe to those who don’t live on Long Island, any fresh seafood restaurant will do, but I guess, we are spoiled by the abundance and quality all around us, so New Wave did not make much of an impression. The service was rather brisk, there were no welcoming touches, the entire attitude of the server was like «Just give me your order and be done with it». The lobster bisque was way too sweet, it did not have that nice spicy kick towards the back of your throat. The fried clams were OK, but the ratio of the clams to the accompanying French fries made from frozen pack, was ¹⁄₃ to ²⁄₃. The lobster rolls were a redeeming item, and for two per order priced at 20 bucks, this was the best value and taste item on the menu. The overall verdict-​OK place if you are in the area, but nothing to write home about, or worth driving to. Oh, and they were out of lobster and mussels on Friday night!

Great restaurant with all of the standard seafood entrees! Service is super friendly and attentive. I had the broiled seafood combo (sole, shrimp and scallops) and was absolutely delicious accompanied with sides of roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables. If you are a seafood lover, there is something on the menu for you with a wide variety of options and prepared to your liking.
They also have a great retail section that you take seafood to go. I will definitely be using them to cater a platter for my next party!

I enjoy this place. They have the best fried clam strips. I should not call them strips because they are the size of my fingers. I have never had such large clam strips.
there lobster bisque is very good.
I usually get their steamed lobster to go. its 10 $ a pound.
My only gripe is they charge extra for melted butter, really? I got two steamed lobsters to go one night and spent over 50 bucks and they still charged me an extra dollar for melted butter. come on guys.

Eaten here many times. Never disappointed. Excellent appetizers, includind coconut shrimp, calimari. Enjoyed the shrimp scampi last visit. Happy that they now have real silverware. Value is excellent as is the service.

I have eaten dinner here five times. Each time the food quality was been very good-​fresh and hot. The service has been outstanding. The price/​value has been excellent.
The entrée portion is a nice size. The place is very clean and smells nice. I like the TV on the walls so I do not miss any of the sports being televised. Plenty of parking all around the restaurant. One of the few places I would recommend.

this place should be very busy. As we sat almost alone during our entire meal, we got to see and hear too much from the fish market guys. not a good thing.

If you want fresh seafood, friendly and courteous service and all around good food – try this place! We were pleasantly surprised with the high quality of this seafood. This family owned business is a nice place to eat at and enjoy a good meal. Try the mussels in the red sauce, calamari and crab cake appetizer. The specials are daily, but all looked good. I personally had the soft shell crab — my favorite and it lived up to its reputation! Thank you for a great meal!

Really conflicted about how to review this place. The fish market portion is easily 5-​star. Everything is fresh and prepared well. I always stock up on their New England Clam Chowder and baked clams.
The restaurant/​take-​out portion is a soft 2-​star. Considering how fresh their fish is, it’s amazing how well they disguise it with bland seasoning. Their soups are fantastic (love taking out their New England Clam Chowder) but not enough to draw attention away from mediocre diner fish.
I’ll continue using their market, but their restaurant was a disappointment.

Great seafood selection and the oysters and clams I buy each week are always fresh and taste great. The Holiday salad is amazing and the staff is friendly and helpful. The fresh salmon is always good and the lobster tails are reasonably priced.

Love this place. I am not the biggest seafood eater, but whenever I’m craving it… I go here. The products are always so fresh and the establishment is clean/​presentable. I’ve gotten their fresh filet of founder which was great. Also, my usual item of choice is the large shrimp. Even if they are busy in there the guys ALWAYS ask if I want my shrimp shelled and de-​veined. I don’t know of a single place that offers to do that, except for New Wave. The workers there are so incredibly nice and welcoming. My family frequents here for the freshness and quality of their seafood. I will continue to remain a loyal customer!

5 stars for the fish market and 3 stars for the restaurant. Fish market is excellent, great service and excellent quality seafood. A couple years ago they opened a restaurant next door and it’s pretty good. Very basic in style, you order at the counter and they bring it out for you. I would stick with any of the fried fish and french fry meals. We get take out form them a few times a year when I am in the mood for some fish and chips and it’s always very good. We’ve eaten in the restaurant a couple times and it’s been good but nothing special. I wish it was a true sit down restaurant with wait service. I feel like they lose something with the more laid back style but the staff has always been really friendly and the food is good.
