Specialties
Mines & Meadows ATV/RV Resort offers ATV and dirt bike enthusiasts in Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio a truly unique experience with more than 75 miles of trails on 650 acres that cover the full spectrum of riding skills from beginner through advanced. We have also added more than 8 miles of new single track (dirt bike only) trails that will test even the most experience riders. While our trails provide tremendous challenges, they are groomed for safety. What really sets Mines & Meadows apart though is underground riding through abandoned limestone mines. These mines provide matchless thrills with underground lakes, total darkness and numerous surprises that help make each journey unforgettable.
History
Established in 2007.
The Krebs Mansion located in the northern portion of our park was a three-story, 25-room mansion built in 1910 by D.M. Kirk, who also started Crescent Portland Cement Company. Arden Krebs and his wife bought it in the early 1930s. The Krebs became known for lavish parties held in the large first-floor ballroom. In 1969, Glen Laurie Christian Fellowship leased the mansion for summer camps and weekend retreats. An old barn was converted into a chapel, and a concrete swimming pool added to the pond fed by water from a nearby creek. On Dec. 30, 1974, at approximately 4 p.m. the mansion burst into flames. Only exterior walls made of 3 rows of brick remained intact.
The mine’s history goes back to the late 1800’s. Limestone was mined by the Crescent Cement Company and later became the home of the Sno-Top Mushroom Company. In 2004 the Grinnen family of Wampum acquired the property and formed Underland Development Corp. There’s a 14-acre limestone mine and crystal clear 3-acre underground lake.
Meet the Business Owner
Robert S.
Business Owner
On May 21, 2014, Bob Svihra passed away after his long battle with cancer. What follows are Bob’s thoughts, shared in his own words, about his reasons for building Mines & Meadows and his vision for the future.
«Although I have spent nearly 40 years as a successful entrepreneur, I probably still surprised many local developers when I decided to invest nearly $ 2 million of my own money into development of an ATV riding resort like Mines & Meadows. I have felt driven to do this project by some basic beliefs: a love for the sport, its great camaraderie, and an intense desire to pass along some of the joy I’ve found to others that might not otherwise have the opportunity. My goal is ultimately to provide ATV riders with the country club atmosphere they deserve. Cynics might say that at more than 70 years of age, I will never recoup my investment. I prefer to think that providing a state of the art resort where friends and families can enjoy this wonder sport is my way of giving back.»
