The Cat Connection

We adopted two kittens in April and couldn’t be more happy! Eva and her team are amazing and care so much for the cats, they serve them good food, have tons of toys for them to play with and really treat them well. Both times I went the litters were clean (no small feat for all the cats there!) and all the cats looked healthy. The process took a little longer than other shelters (partly due to an illness) and partly because they are all volunteers and want to ensure the people adopting will be proper pet owners… after all it is all about the cats and if you can’t be patient and afford the fees then you probably shouldn’t own any animals.

We have recently adopted 2 kittens from the cat connection and I can not say enough good things about my experience. We have a 14 year old cat and recently lost his playmate to cancer so we were looking for a kitty to keep him company. We were very hesitant because we wanted to make sure that we found the perfect play mate for him. Eva helped us choose the perfect kittens, they were well socialized to other cats and people so they were very respectful of our cat from day one.
Eva took her time explaining the process of introducing them for the best outcome and how to care for them. She really cared about everyone involved and wanted to make sure that we were happy as well as our cat and also the kittens.
They are very healthy and happy kitties and are very friendly towards us and my adult cat.
Eva is a blessing to the cat community! Thank you cat connection for helping us create a smooth introduction and a peaceful environment for our furbabies!

I really highly recommend Cat Connection! I have been thinking about getting a cat for the past 6 months and visiting the MSPCA almost weekly. Then I read about the Cat Connection here on Unilocal and submitted an online form. Eva promptly contacted me and helped me find these two adorable kittens. Cat Connection has policies based on years of experience– they responsibly wait till the kittens are 12 weeks or so to adopt out. They also ensure they are a bit older before the spay/​neuter (which is included in the adoption fee). I wasn’t sure I wanted two kittens when I set out to get a cat but I am super glad now that I did. They play together endlessly and it’s a joy to watch them interact. And it really isn’t double the work. Getting two healthy, happy kittens and a lot of kitten wisdom from Eva and Amy at Cat Connection was a great experience. These are volunteers and true animal lovers running a great organization!

I have two cats that I adopted from The Cat Connection when they were kittens and the process was great and so were the people I interacted with. The adoption fees not only include neutering/​spaying but also included initial shots. I did compare fees to other shelters and found them to be cheaper. My cats are 3 years old now and are healthy and are wonderful additions to our family. They were also very knowledgeable about cats and answered any and all questions I had.
It became very obvious to me when adopting my cats that the The Cat Connection folks truly love and deeply care for ALL cats.
I also know someone that recently began fostering a cat and they also had an easy and great experience with The Cat Connection.

Oh dear, how sad that some people have had bad experiences with TCC trying to adopt a cat when I had such a super experience!
Do they know about the fostering program where TCC, continues to pay for all vets bills, you just need to pay for cat food and litter?
I am now a committed volunteer member of the group because of all the advice and concern that we received. The TCC truly cares about the cats they have in their care.
Yes, the web site is not always up to date and sometimes the volunteers are slower to get back to you but remember, this is a VOLUNTEER Non-​Profit group who also, like me, sometimes have full time jobs, and fit their volunteering in around work.
My cat, whom I’d had for over 10 years, was taken by a coyote, leaving me with a broken heart and huge recriminations for letting her out at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon for her breath of fresh air.
We approached the TCC when I read about their free fostering program, as we weren’t ready to adopt. Two of their members came to «vet» our home and suggested 2 different cats that needed fostering. After visiting one of the cats they suggested, we fostered a mummy cat that had just had 5 kittens in someones garden shed! The kittens had been adopted but the mummy needed a temporary home until she too could be adopted.
The TCC continued to supervise her care and to pay for all her vets fee, all we had to pay for was her food and litter. When the time came for her to be officially adopted, of course we couldn’t give her up and we happily paid the $ 150 adoption fee.
I have already recommended TCC to a neighbor whose elderly cats had died, and she is now fostering and has also become involved with TCC.

Please read the reviews carefully and then go and find out more yourself! Make your own judgement! Remember, that there are many situations that can’t work for everyone and some people will be disappointed.

I cant say enough good things about this organization. I don’t understand some of the reviews on here. They are run by volunteers so yes it may take a little longer to get a response but I have been very happy with everything. They truly care about the cats and the adoption process. They want the best homes for their rescues which I appreciate. If you cant afford an adoption fee, my guess would be you could not afford vet bills. I love that they work hard to get the best homes for cats and I would recommend them to anyone! — A Happy Cat Owner!

RED FLAG: If several of us writing reviews on this group here have had bad experiences with this so called «Cat Adoption» Non-​Profit — That should raise a big RED FLAG for you when dealing or donating your money or time to them.
If you are a LOW INCOME/​POOR Resident of Waltham (Same City this Organization claims to be in) who loves cats, grew up with cats all his life, and is in Grief over the recent death of his mother, but now ready to share his home and love with a cat who may need a home — Well, this organization, which claims a mission to safe cats and place into loving homes — cannot help you. When you get the $ 175 needed to adopt, call them back then.
It is Easter time, and we are from out of state, but at the suggestion of a colleague from Boston, we contacted this organization in Waltham, Massachusetts to see if they could help our friend (described above/​also a resident of Waltham, MA) adopt a cat, and if they had any programs that would make it financially feasible for our friend, of very limited means, to be able give one of their cats a home. He could not afford their sizable adoption fee.
SEVERAL DAYS AFTER REACHING OUT to these folks via email, a woman named Audrey, answered:
«Sorry, we don’t have any programs that can help your friend»
If that is the case, why do they post donations from several groups and corporations claiming to help lower costs for adoption on their site?
Not sure what they are doing at this group, but they are not helping cats find loving homes, specially homes that may be of low income loving families.
Very disappointed and alarmed by their disregard for their cats looking for home and for a grieving local Waltham resident that wanted to give one of their cats a home.
And specially to do this at Easter time.

I hate to say it, but The Cat Deception is more like it. I looked on the site at adoptable cats and fell in love with a particular profile. I decided I wanted to adopt this sweet singular kitty. I filled out the online application. Someone got back to me within a day asking me which cat I was interested in. I told them, and they told me «oops, she’s now part of a pair only» which I found odd. Anyhow, I pressed on and told them there was another cat I was interested in on the adoptable list. They told me they would forward my application to the Director and that she would get back to me. Fast forward four days. No response. I decided to email the woman I first spoke to to see what was going on. I immediately received a response, and an answer! «*name withheld* just told me *great cat* was no longer available.» Now keep in mind, they didn’t say she was adopted, but that she was «not available». Yet, her presence is still on the website as ‘adoptable’! I didn’t bother asking about another cat because I didn’t want to get my heart broken once more to find out they weren’t «available». Adopter beware.

My heart about dropped when I saw that The Cat Connection has only a two star rating here on Unilocal.What a misrepresentation of such a fine, caring, and genuinely altruistic organization. A charity run by volunteers who want to do the right thing, and not a business, (as a fellow reviewer called it), Volunteers who have other jobs, families, and pets of their own to take care of. My husband and I adopted our two felines from The Cat Connection just over two years after we lost our previous cat and were left heartbroken. We met with Eva, the adoption coordinator at the time, and she listened to our story with compassionate ears and was able to match us up with the perfect pair of cats that we have loved since Day 1. If you are looking to adopt and rescue from a local organization run by passionate volunteers who are true animal lovers and want to do the right thing, please consider The Cat Connection. Never before have I seen a shelter that looks out for the animals first. They really strive to match you with the right pet from the start, and we were even given the option to take our two cats for a trial run. Luckily, we didn’t have to return them because we love them so much. Thanks for reading!
