As a longtime yarn store employee, I have pretty high standards. I was excited to check out this shop and looked in the windows before going in. I can’t believe the others who can look beyond the disorganization and step foot inside. I’m sorry, but you’re running a shop. I don’t care how encyclopedic your memory is and if you know where everything is. It is critical that a customer can navigate your store comfortably and safely without tripping on balls of yarn. I want to shop around and be inspired by what you have, not be restricted to asking you whether or not you have a specific item. There were literally balls of yarn on the ground, unwound and dragging. Dirty yarn is extremely attractive to moths. For this reason, I will never purchase yarn here. What a shame, because this is an excellent, convenient location.

Dee’s Nimble Needle is a great store, if you are looking for yarn, help with your current project or intersted in taking a class. Yes, the store is very disorganized, but if you are looking for something guranteed Dee will be able to find what you are looking for… I am new to knitting and have been taking classes, and have stopped in when I have been stuck on a project and any person always will help me.

Dee’s Nimble Needles in Walpole was a HUGE disappointment… yarn all over the floor, boxes of yarn blocking aisles and no staff person actively working on putting any yarn away, the staff person said she doesn’t have time to mark the prices so you have to ask her about anything you are interested in purchasing, and she had a lot of single balls but you have no idea if she has more than just a single ball of a yarn unless you ask her. We walked out. She just didn’t really seem to care about helping us; she just wanted to sit at her table and yak with her two friends who were there. Boxes of yarn every where. Lengthy yarn tails all over the floor. VERY disorganized. VERY uncaring staff. Made us feel like we were invading their private little yarn club. Oh, and this was our third and final attempt to get to the store. The second time we were turned away at the door and told they were closed even though it was still a few minutes before closing, the door was wide open, the lights were on, and the open sign was out. It was a yarn crawl weekend, so we figured if they didn’t need our business, we didn’t need to give it to them. We will NOT go back to that store again. If staff doesn’t have the time or interest to mark prices(while having time to socialize with friends), I don’t have the time to waste in their store.

I would like to go with 2.5 stars, but Unilocal won’t let me hit the middle. I have found the staff to be hit or miss. Sometimes, they’re very friendly and helpful. Sometimes, they’re engrossed in the knitting projects they’re working on over in the table side of the shop. Overall, they’re not welcoming, which is a problem in a yarn store. A great assortment of yarns. I hate the fact that nothing is labeled with a price – to find out the cost of a skein, you have to ask, which can be difficult(see the staff comments above). I also have fallen in love with a skein of yarn and carried it around the store, dreaming of what I’ll make with it, only to find out that it’s WAY above my stash price point – if it were labeled, it would have stayed on the shelf so I’d feel less heartbroken about it. There always seem to be people knitting at the side table, and often they do seem to be having a lot of fun, but(unlike my first choice yarn shop) they are not inviting. You always feel like the wallflower at the party. As a consequence, I don’t go in here to browse or dream, just when I need something I know they have, and I generally call first to make sure it’s there and what the cost will be.

I’ve been there a few times over the last 12 years(yikes! time flies). It was Dee’s Nimble Needles that bridged the gap for me between what my grandmother taught me and what I wanted to learn to become a knitter on my own. They are more than willing to spend time helping an interested party with questions. The store has lots of beautiful yarns, at prices that won’t break the bank, which is rare for a small boutique in my experience. If you need more inspiration than the yarn itself, you can look at many sweaters and shawls that the owner knit with patterns she sells in the store. They have all the notions and needles you’d need, again at a more than fair price.

I really like the owner and the staff of this shop. It’s not a fancy store, but they have a lot of good stuff. Extremely helpful and willing to order. No airs. They carry Noro, Artyarns and other yarns at a wide variety of price points. I’ve been in here on Sunday afternoons when there’s a rollicking group around the table. Gets my vote for best shop vibe.
