Commonwealth Dance Academy and Mrs. Bettijane Robinson helped not only shape me as a child but has continued to enrich my life as an adult. Under the instruction of Mrs. Robinson and her staff I not only gained proper training and education in dance, but I gained self confidence and found my second home along with friendships i continue to call family. The property has two beautiful studios and a private parking lot. I encourage you to contact this studio if you are looking for a dance class for your child. They will gain much more than a dance education, they will gain a second home!

Both of my daughters have been going to Commonwealth since they were three years old, which is when they first fell in love with how magical Mrs Robinson makes each dance class. She was almost a mythical person to them! One of my girls always danced like she had ants in her pants but she thought she looked like a prima ballerina. They are now 13 and 9 and are still at Commonwealth. Every year I am blown away at how much they have learned since the year before, how confident they are on stage, how poised and disciplined they have become, how close they are to their dance friends whom they have been with since they were preschoolers, and how dearly they love their dance teachers, One thing that is very important to me as a mom is that every girl there, no matter her size or her ability or any challenge she may face physically, always has a smile on her face and a friend on either side of her. If you are looking for a dance school for your 3 – 6 year old daughter, this is the place to send her. It will become her second home and her second family.

My 5 year-old daughter took a year of tap/ballet with Mrs. BettyJane Robinson Grey, owner and lead instructor at Commonwealth. During the hour-long Tuesday afternoon sessions at her nicely appointed Walpole studio, the children were taught how to follow instructions, to some extent,(she can scold better than she can dance) but I did not notice any of them coming away with an enthusiasm for dance. In addition to which, Mrs. Robinson apparently feels as though she can speak to the parents of her young students as if they were juveniles themselves. On more than one occasion I had to bite my tongue, rather than remind her who pays for the children’s lessons. Not much of a teacher, and not very respectful of anyone but herself. There are too many other, more pleasant options available in this area, to waste your or your children’s time with this place
