The Clubhouse at Boundary Oak

absolutely beautiful!!! i cannot say enough good things about boundary oaks… we had a sunset wedding there in november… it truly was the best day of my life!!! katie and charlene were amazing!!! and made the most stressful day ever stress free… the flowers were beautiful/​the food was to die for, and the views were breathtaking!!! it was also nice to have a venue that included everything…
my only minor complaint was the dj— and that was an oversight on his part by not clarifying which dances we were requesting (on the timeline i did not include a separate dance i wanted, but it was put on the dj list)

There are so many things about the Clubhouse @ Boundary Oak that drew me in as a bride on a budget.
Here are my faves:
1. Space — The ENTIRE Clubhouse is reserved for you and your guests when you book them for your day. The place is huge! With any other venue I saw, they rented by room, or have an outrageous price for a venue buyout. With Boundary Oak, that is a non issue.
2. Pricing — They are very amenable to negotiating what they offer in order to accommodate your budget. Just tell them what is the most important thing to you, (in my case it was an open bar) and they will do their best give you what you need and still stay within your budget.
3. The bridal suite — It’s so nice to get ready there with your girls, as opposed to your house or a hotel. It is more than enough space to fit in at least 10 bridesmaids (though I only had 5). They serve you champagne, cheese, fruits and breads as you get ready. Such a nice touch.
4. Coordinator — Charlene was such a sweetheart throughout the whole planning process. She addresses your concerns quickly and stays in constant contact with you. She’s also very organized, so even if you don’t know what you’re doing with the planning process, she makes it easy for you.
5. The food/​beverages are amazing! Everyone was talking about the salad we chose after the wedding. The beef is tender and the chicken is moist. So tasty and elegantly plated.
All in all, I am so happy with my choice in having my wedding reception at the Clubhouse at Boundary Oak. There’s no better place I could’ve pictured my wedding to have been. Thank you Boundary Oak Staff! You are the best!

What a really pretty location. I would have given this a four star rating, but the bathroom was a mess, it was smelly and it was out of soap to wash my hands.
However, the grounds are just gorgeous. I was there for a company holiday part and it was a great space that they had rented. It had plenty of room to mingle, play games, and hear everyone talking. I enjoyed the event and appreciated the locale. It was very rainy out that day, so didn’t get to explore the grounds or golf course but from what I could see, they are a pretty nice establishment.

I had no idea this place existed. It’s nestled in the hills of Walnut Creek, away from the hectic atmosphere of downtown. It overlooks a golf course (duh) and a pond with ducks, and gives you a pretty good view of the city. Makes for nice outdoor pictures.
I went here for a catered lunch for work this month. The servers were nice, event room was spacious, and the food was good. The floor to ceiling windows are nice too, so you still have the golf course as a backdrop for phot ops. I will be adding this to my list of venues for future events.

I went to play Boundary Oaks this afternoon alone and was told I had to wait another 20 minutes to tee off at 4 o’clock to be behind the high school golf tournament. I asked if I could tee off on the open 10^th tee & was denied. On my way in the BOY from the clubhouse was outside talking to his friend and another co-​worker who then took the friend out on to the course in a golf cart with his bag in his lap obviously to get him in front of the tournament. There was no one coming up 9^th or on the 10^th & 11^th holes but I was informed again they didn’t want me to tee off the 10^th & hold anyone up (as a single.) The reviews are right the staff is POOR. DO NOT GO HERE. This place LACKS IN CUSTOMER SERVIVE, LEADERSHIP, & LOGIC.

My husband and I got married here this past saturday. This venue was absolutely perfect! We did our ceremony and reception here. Our guests kept commenting about how beautiful the venue was and how convenient it was (lots of free parking, beautiful rooms and beautiful scenery for an outdoor ceremony). I highly recommend this venue if you are looking for an east bay wedding location, you will not be disappointed! Also Katie and charlene were wonderful to work with and made everything so easy and stress free. Thank you so much!

Our group of senior citizens had our spring luncheon on April 29, 2015, and we are still talking about it!
The site is awesome to begin with! The staff, especially Charlene, were pleasant to work with. Full access to communication was vital for us and they were able to meet that expectation. Whenever we asked for something, we got it.
The prices were very reasonable and affordable for our group. The food overall was good. THANK YOU!

This place is gorgeous! The golf course, the giant oak tree, The Clubhouse.
We held our wedding here on November 2014. We had our wedding ceremony at the golf course and reception in the ballroom. Everything turned out wonderful!
The ladies that helped me with the wedding planning were both so amazing! They would follow-​up with me just at the right times without being pushy. They just want to make sure everything goes the way I wanted it to be. Very detail oriented and organized. Although, there was a little confusion about chair covers (twice), but they made sure by double checking what package we got for our wedding. They are not afraid to apologize if they made a mistake or if there were little misunderstandings. I can’t imagine how busy these ladies get trying to organize every function so little mistakes/​confusion are bound to happen. With the ladies great organization skills, everything will turn out great, just trust them! I did not have to worry about helping at all with setting up the reception hallway with all the props I brought the day before, or setup inside the ballroom for the reception. They took care of everything while I got ready in the large bridal suite, stocked up with bubbly, variety if cheeses and crackers for the ladies to enjoy. The whole staff at Boundary Oak are exceptional. They made our wedding very special and turned out perfect!

I have coordinated quite a few events recently. It’s amazing to me how different the planning process can be, depending on how proactive the venue is. Boundary Oaks made my job very easy. The fees and charges were clearly laid out prior to the event. They did all the decorating and clean-​up. There was plenty of staff on hand to assist us and answer questions during the event. The rooms were nicely laid out and spacious. They were even cool with us bringing in bagpipes.
The food was delicious. The beef with garlic blue cheese aoli on brioche appetizer was so good, I was tempted to follow the plate around the room. The smoked salmon was fresh and complimented nicely by red onion and capers. The crab cakes weren’t my cup of tea but it’s tough to win them all. The beautifully plated salad, encircled with a cucumber wrap, was crisp and fresh. The cheese crumbles, pecans and vinegarette dressing all worked together to make a perfect starter. I chose the vegetarian option and I was so happy that I did! The pastry was light & flaky. The filling was a perfect balance of cheese and vegetables. The hints of hot sauce sprinkled around the plate, gave the hearty dish a perfect little kick. My husband selected the beef and I really enjoyed the bites I took. The beef was cooked well but still tender and that’s exactly how I liked it.
My only critique is that some of the staff lacked a bit of professionalism. In particular, I heard the F word twice and was asked, «Ya’ll done with that?» (vs. May I take your plate?) It wasn’t a big deal to me but I would have been disappointed if it was an event that accommodated children.
We had plenty of room to dance and play a few games. All in all it turned out to be a lovely event and all the guests seem to have enjoyed themselves. I know that I did!

We couldn’t be happier that we had our wedding at Boundary Oaks! We had shopped around at a few locations but Boundary Oaks blew us away — from the beautiful location/​scenery, to the great food, to the wonderful staff (especially Emily and Charlene)! Location/​Scenery — Stunning! Our ceremony was outside and the scenery was so beautiful that we barely had to decorate! It was a hot August day but our guests were so thankful to have cold water/​champagne at the ceremony site to keep them nice and cool. Food — tasted exactly as we expected on our wedding night from our tasting. Our guests were talking about how great the passed hors d’oeuvres were — and they even set aside some for us at our seats since we didn’t have time to try it during cocktail hour! Emily and Charlene — They were such a pleasure to work with — always responsive, extremely accommodating and thoughtful and I swear they bent over backwards to make the wedding as easy as possible for us. They kept me up to date on everything without me having to ask and they reminded me of important dates and information. Boundary Oaks is very lucky to have such a great duo!
My only nitpick — I had a friend helping to ensure that everything went as I wished and during set up, the set up staff missed the bread plates for two of our tables. But they quickly fixed it when my friend mentioned it to them.

I had my wedding at the Clubhouse in June, and it was fantastic. The women that work in the event center were such a pleasure to work with. They stayed on top of due dates and scheduling so I didn’t miss any important dates. They were also very forth-​coming about any questions that I had.
I wanted a venue that had an outside area for the ceremony– with chairs, plugs for a DJ, and a nice view. I also needed a bridal suite for my bridesmaids and myself to get ready and a ballroom for the reception. When I first saw the ballroom, I thought it looked like every other one, so I opted to get uplighting from my DJ and that TOTALLY made that room shine.
The Clubhouse let my husband and I take goft carts to the big oak tree a bit away to take some nice photos, and we got a great deal on the open bar.
The food was amazingly good, and we got to have a free tasting for the two of us beforehand so we could choose entrees, etc. We had the venue for several hours– late into the night, so I didn’t feel rushed. The venue was very accommodating to random requests — like giving my bridesmaid a private area to feed her newly born baby. They have tons of free parking, and all the supplies you’d need comes in the package price. I opted to upgrade the chairs to Chivari through them — it was well worth the price.
The day before, I basically just handed Charlene and Emily a few boxes of decorations and told them what they should do with them. It was great, because the day of– I didn’t have to do anything at all, they had everything already set up for me! Brides: stick little address labels on the bottom of your stuff and put everything in boxes according to which room /​table they are supposed to go in or on. It helps to have labels on stuff in case something comes up missing later. I had a few things to pick up the day after, but they were all safe and sound.
My only nitpicks — there was no plate or silverware at the cake table for cutting, so we ate our cake off the serving ware. And we didn’t get to try all the appetizers, because we got to the cocktail hour later on (apparently one of our groomsmen was stalking the waiters, so a lot of our guests didn’t get to try all the apps either). My suggestion would be to keep apps covered until the waiter is in the center of the room and save several for the b+g in the bridal suite or at the reception sweetheart table so we’d get to have them. I know my husband was a little annoyed he didn’t get to try them. I got to try two that were saved in the suite — but we had a total of 6 apps. It would have been nice to try all 6 since we paid for them!
All in all though, it was an excellent day, it was easy to plan with them, and fun!

I am so happy I chose this venue! My wedding day was PERFECT and it was made entirely possible by Emily and Charlene– I LOVE these two! They are excellent at what they do and a pleasure to work with. I met with other event coordinators at different venues prior to choosing this one and no one compares to Emily and Charlene. They are extremely pleasant, organized, and efficient. They ensured my wedding day ran smoothly and I can’t thank them enough.
The ceremony site is beautiful, and the ballroom is so nice! All my guests raved about the food– from the appetizers to the entrees. ALL of the staff there is extremely friendly. I would most definitely refer this venue to anyone!

We had a wedding here this past Sunday, We worked primarily with Emily who is FANTASTIC in her field and totally grrrrreat at what she does! things in terms of contract and pricing were good, the venue is reasonably priced and BEAUTIFUL. The staff works well with you and is very attentive to detail. There was very little we had to do in setting up/​organizing, Emily kept stress levels down and was always two steps ahead of us. There is this thing that MOST venues do, you work with one coordinator MOST of the time and the day/​week of your wedding they are «out of the office» to keep the personal relationship out of it, you’ll see what I mean later. The food is very good and consistent with the tasting. Our downside was working with Charlene, she was just OK, all along each time we worked with her something went «wrong», same goes for the wedding day, 3 of my bridesmaids were offended by Charlene, 6 of our guests complained about her, we had an issue with our appetizers (our party ran out and our bridal party didn’t get ANY after paying for them for everyone), our food was served just warm, we ran out of one of our meats (and told the chef miscalculated the pounds and that we had «hungry guests»), One of our cake tiers went missing, we were ordered for and automatically charged for runners I had just asked for pricing on which ended up being OK but only because it wasn’t that expensive, and a few other small things happened, I think if Emily was there things would have gone totally differently, I also think we should have been offered something for all that went wrong, EVEN a bottle of champagne or $ 100 gift card or dinner?! ANYTHING… the day was so special to us that nothing could ruin it and only we knew that all of those things went wrong, it just sucks to plan so much in advance and have such minor details create such a problem, totally avoidable. :(totally would’ve given 5-​stars!

Great location for our daughter’s wedding and reception! The event coordinators were helpful, friendly, and calm! The staff was very accommodating, especially when the photographer wanted some shots in every part of the venue! The wedding sight was beautiful and the reception area was decorated very nice! The food was delicious and warm!

I coordinated a business management recognition event at The Clubhouse at Bounday Oak on October 9, 2013. I inially spoke to Emily who booked the rooms and then worked with Charlene to coordinate the rooms, menu, etc. They were both excellent to work with and Charlene spent a lot of time with me reviewing the layout of the two rooms we were going to use and how everything would be set up. We discussed all the details right down to the napkins, table centerpieces, dessert table, etc. On the day of the event, everything was perfect. The presentation of the food was beautiful and the food itself was on par with a fine dining restaurant; everything was delicious. I would highly recommend this venue for both personal and business events.

I hosted our company holiday party at Boundary Oak last weekend and I have absolutely no regrets. We recently had a change in ownership so this party venue was very different from what we’ve done in the past. I was nervous about how the change would be received but everyone LOVED it. The holiday décor was perfect. They even had Christmas trees set up in the Mira/​Vista rooms. Our employees and their guests were saying that the food was the best we’ve had at any of our holiday parties.
This was my first year planning our holiday party and I couldn’t have done it without Emily and Charlene. They were so helpful and patient with me. They made me look so good that I felt guilty taking credit for the party. Once my necessary party decisions were made, Charlene and the staff handled everything at the party. It was a great setup and I would love to use this venue again.

We got married in October of this year, and Boundary Oak and their staff are truly remarkable. Charlene and Emily are both prompt, well organized, and always there to help in any way they can — even on their days off. From the first tour we took of the venue, I always felt like I had 100% of their attention, and never felt like I was just a number.
I am not a huge planner. The thought of planning my own wedding was a daunting task. My friends provided me a wedding planning book with a timeline; after leafing through it once and getting overwhelmed, it sat on my nightstand gathering dust. But, even for the non-​planner like me, Boundary Oak made the process as easy and straightforward as possible. It was even enjoyable!
The details:
We first found Boundary Oak through an online search of wedding venues — my husband and I had to have an outdoor ceremony, and living in San Francisco we didn’t want to take a gamble with the weather. In any case, we found Boundary Oak, which looked beautiful from the photos and was reasonably priced in comparison to a lot of other country clubs we looked at.
On our first visit Emily showed us around. The ceremony site is one of the first things you see as you walk up from the parking lot. The arch they have is set up all year round, so it was nice to be able to get a feel for what your ceremony would be like. Next she showed us the Vista room, which is great for cocktail hour and has a balcony and windows with views of the golf course and Mount Diablo. Lastly, the Celebration ballroom is where the reception would take place. The room is a good size, with a large dance floor in the middle. We had a setup for 170 people, and everyone fit in comfortably with lots of room to dance. Oh, and they can also set up a bridal suite, complete with refreshments and snacks. You can arrive as early as you need to get ready for your big day.
After narrowing our choices down, we took my parents to visit Boundary Oak. Again, Emily was very accommodating and took the time to answer any questions or concerns they might have.
Once we chose to go with this venue, I worked with Charlene on the details of my day. She provided a checklist of questions, and helped me go over the entire thing step by step. She arranged a tasting for us, where we were able to sample two salads and three of their main dishes. The food was all delicious. We ended up going with the bistro filet and lemon pepper rock cod for our two main dishes. There are also lots of vegetarian options. We did not get to taste these, but we ended up choosing the vegetable wellington for our vegetarian guests. They were very happy to find an actual meal on their plate that was tasty, and not just a plate with the protein taken away.
Our wedding day went very smoothly. There was never a time where I felt things were disorganized or hectic, and the staff really went out of their way to be sure we enjoyed ourselves. And enjoy ourselves we did!
Again, this place is truly a gem. Guests still talk about how beautiful and organized our wedding was, and I always pass the credit over to Emily and Charlene. If you’re looking for a venue that has everything in one package, I would highly recommend Boundary Oak. When visiting, I would recommend trying to go when they’re setting up or have already set up for an event, since it’s nice to see everything in person. They do have photos of various weddings that you can look through, but it’s just not the same.

I had my engagement party with about 85 guests including children here in October, 2013. Everyone LOVED this place… they all asked how I found it… how I organized it all so beautifully… where did I get the decorations from… where did the food come from… etc etc. Honestly, I found it online, and booked everything through their coordinator Emily. She is fantastic. I wish I could have taken more credit. She worked with the hosts of the party with ease. She had the music we wanted playing, the food we wanted from their in house kitchen, the bar, the tables, the putting contest (which was a HUGE hit), and a children ‘s table all set up when we got there. The view from their room is breathtaking. Mountain vistas everywhere. And it is so nice to have a patio area right there .
I had SO much fun. I didn’t have to lift a finger or worry about anything. Thank you Emily Gaines and I hope to be back for another party sometime!!! If my wedding were not a destination wedding, I would have it here too. :)

This review is long overdue! My husband and I got married here in the Spring of 2011. Ceremony was outdoor and reception was indoor with 150 guests. The coordinator that we initially booked with was amazing and was always on top of things. Then she left and was replaced with someone who was very hard to communicate with and didn’t give much detail or help with the venue planning (although I think this person no longer works here either). We were very disappointed about it, but we had to move forward since we already booked the place.
The site’s layout was perfect. We had cocktail hour at the smaller room/​patio area. I also liked how the bar is separate from the actual ballroom but still in the same vicinity and the ballroom is very spacious. My bridal party and I were also able to use one of their other rooms to get ready during the day and stash our belongings in during the entire event. The staff during our wedding was very friendly and accommodating. They always asked my husband and I if we needed anything (coffee, water, food) and made sure we were doing okay. Even clean-​up process was easy. They didn’t rush us to get out and they made sure we had all our belongings. Oh, and one last thing, the food was amazing! People were actually complimenting and wondering if there were seconds (we chose plated instead of buffet). I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for an affordable, yet beautiful wedding venue!

When my husband and I were looking for possible wedding venues last January of this year, we traveled to various locations and thoroughly went over the different wedding packages being offered. When we went to look at The Cubhouse, more like an afterthought since we already made a deposit to reserve a venue also within Walnut Creek, I knew we found IT. We discussed it and never changed our decision since then.
Considering that it was only my husband and I who were the primary coordinators for our wedding, there were several meetings held and we got to work closely with the wonderful staff of The Clubhouse, namely: Emily, Charlene and Jeff. Being of valuable assistance is an understatement to describe them. During the week of the wedding, particularly during the Day itself, Emily and Charlene helped me not only to keep my sanity intact but for me to truly enjoy my own wedding. Their personalized service, as well as their sensitivity and understanding (not to mention patience) they have shown me and my husband is truly commendable. It was an emotional moment for me when I saw the Sweetheart Table and the surrounding area — it was, indeed, a wonderful surprise!
In addition, we have been receiving compliments from our guests about how sumptuous the food was. The service staff were also responsive to all our needs and were very helpful with our vendors as well.
My husband and I, along with our families, still talk about our wedding held last 21 September. We fondly remember the wonderful people of The Clubhouse who made it possible to help us create and make a reality a beautiful Wedding Day.
