Do you enjoy the great outdoors, are you ready for another vacation, does your work team need a team building event? If you said yes to any of these then an outbound adventure is what you need.

Sharpen The Edge is a custom outdoor adventure company specializing in one day to five day excursions in northern and central California. Examples of trips include: one day caving excursions and wine tasting, two day hiking and or backpacking trips in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, three day fishing and off-​road excursions, and the famous five day Death Valley 275 mile off-​road tour. We strive to provide concierge planning and effortless enjoyment.

All food is prepared on the trail consisting of premium ingredients, restaurant quality and gourmet recipes. Considerations for gluten free, vegetarian, food allergies, and religious preferences will be taken into account when planning meals.

History

Established in 2002.

Originally Sharpen The Edge was designed to reward exemplary high school students with outbound trips. After over 100 trips the adults chimed in and wanted their fair share of the fun. We have been exploring some of the more unknown regions of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Gold Country, and of course Death Valley. If you don’t know where it is… you can’t get there.

Bob Britz has been leading groups on outbound trips since the 1980’s. Over his life he has mentored almost 700 young men and women through both his faith and sharing the great outdoors. Bob’s passions include: coaching, mentoring, cooking, and the outdoors; Sharpen The Edge allows Bob to live out all his passions.

Craig Buchholz was one of those 700 who took a special interest in these trips and has since then been on 30 trips and lead 7 of them. As an active member of the Army National Guard Craig brings special skills useful to the great outdoors. Craig’s passions are golf, adventure, games, and great company.

Bob Britz has over 30 years of experience mentoring and growing individuals as well as businesses. As an advisor at UC Berkeley he currently works with 50 young men and as a high school youth leader he currently works with 8 young men freshmen through senior.

Whether working with business teams on team development or individuals advancing through the throws of young manhood, Bob has been a committed mentor.

Bob is the kind of guy you take out into the back country and know you’re alright because he always brings the essential gear and knowledge to survive.
