Dr Pope is really fantastic. I had two conflicting opinions from two dentists about the crowns that I had done overseas and he spent almost an hour giving me his opinion for free!!! Also it’s clear that he is perfectionist. This man really loves what he does, everyone in the office does. They are all so nice and you can really tell that Pope is a perfectionist. My friend recommended him to me and she has been seeing him for years.

I saw Dr. Mojica & Serena two days in a row: first, for cleaning; second, for a cavity. The whole staff is extremely knowledgeable and answered my plethora of questions happily. The office is clean and has hi-​tech equipment so your appointment goes smoothly. They made SURE my cavity did not hurt and took excellent care of me the entire time.
I highly recommend Dr. Mojica and the wonderful team at Pope to anyone looking for a high quality dental experience.

I just switched dentists and couldn’t be happier!
Before the appointment: Scheduling was very easy. They sent me paperwork to fill out in advance, so I didn’t have to do it in the office. They called the day before and left a message to remind me of my appointment.
Arriving: The office is close to the thick of things in Walnut Creek. It’s in a nice, shaded complex with plenty of parking and is easy to find. There was 0 wait time; I arrived, handed over my paperwork, and was brought back immediately.
The office: The office was comfortable (not too sterile-​feeling) and very clean. I like that the rooms where the patients are treated are surrounded by leafy trees. It’s very relaxing.
The staff: The staff was extremely friendly and great and what they do. They made me feel totally at ease. They went over my paperwork and spent a lot of time speaking with me about my personal dental care and even my insurance. My teeth felt a million times better after the cleaning. Dr Audrey is definitely the best dentist I’ve ever had! She seemed to genuinely care about my longterm health.
I’m so glad I found this office and would absolutely recommend it to anyone. They’re wonderful!

I always enjoy going to Pope Dental. I have been a patient of Dr Scott Pope ever since joined his Dad’s, Dr Jerry Pope’s, practice, and then took over the practice when his Dad retired. Bob is my preferred hygienist, and his chairside manner is great. Dr Pope and his staff are very professional in the services they provide and very friendly with their patients. I have had extensive work with crowns to repair my worn teeth due to grinding, and my teeth now look beautiful. He also has completed work on an implant that I needed. He now has a 3D printer that allows him to make crowns in his office on the same day. No more temporary crowns! I highly recommend Pope Dental.

Made appointment several weeks ago. Took time off from work. Hustled down there and told my appt was cancelled! Not by me. Very unprofessional. Not going back.

I am not really sure what to say about my experience at Pope Dental.
I arrived on time for my appointment and waiting 25 minutes until I was seen. The staff keep apologizing and commenting not so quietly in the back that the dentist really had to hurry up and this wasn’t acceptable. It was nice that they even cared but I was a little annoyed that it was so late.
The actual dental appointment was very good and I was really happy with everything but the follow through after the appointment has been really bad. They were supposed to call my old dentist to get my Xrays and I was supposed to come back to have some work done. Two weeks went by with no answers and I called to which they answered, oh yeah, your dentist never sent the X-​rays over. Ok, why can’t you follow up? Why am I the one calling you? Another week goes by and I finally got a call saying my insurance went through (I received a bill in the mail which was annoying) and that I can schedule my next appointment. However, when I asked about the Xrays, they said oh yeah, we never did that. They said they would call tomorrow and get back to me the next day. It has been another week with no contact.
In short, the actual dentist appointment was very good but the waiting and everything after that initial visit has been poor.
I will be looking for another dentist that is more on top of things than this one.

Where do I even start?!? Going to the dentist is probably one of the most anxiety producing and fearful things in life that I dread! I am scared to death and usually in tears before the Dentist even touches a tooth, but being a patient at Dr. Scott Pope’s office has been an experience that helped to put my fears to rest and has enabled me to get the dental treatments necessary. From the moment you walk through their door — they are genuine, sensitive and completely compassionate to my unique needs and fears .From beginning to end, I feel that the care and service provided cannot be matched elsewhere — I’ve been to dozens! I believe they are the best in their field. Every time I have had an «emergency» situation or dental issue — they are quick to get me in and Dr. Scott Pope takes the time to treat me like I am the only patient there. I have complete confidence in their work — they strive for perfection and I’ve always left there happy. Happy? — Me, at a dentist? — - yes, he is THAT good! I wholeheartedly recommend Dr Scott Pope’s office for your whole family. Don’t put it off anymore — You WILL leave this office smiling … and what a beautiful smile it will be! If they could do it for me — there’s hope for anyone. :)

I literally just stepped out of their office. AMAZING DOCTORS AND STAFF! I had put on my chart that I’ve had previous anxiety in the dental chair, and Dr. Mojica made it a point to talk to me about it and how I was feeling. She really eased all the tension I had and answered all my questions about sedation, treatment & really seemed concerned about what was best for me. It actually bummed me out that I had to be referred out of the office for my oral surgery. I was a patient here 5 years ago, who knows why I ever switched!

I have been a loyal and happy customer of Dr. Pope and his team for years. Now, unfortunately, I’m looking for a new dentist.
The cleanings and prior work that I have had done has been professionally completed, however this review is in regards to a recent experience that left a bad taste in my mouth, and has caused me to look elsewhere on principal.
Recently, during a routine cleaning, they found that I had cracks in three molars and that needed to be repaired. Let me say that I work in the insurance industry (with Dental insurance specifically) so I am very familiar with the ins and outs of a dental policy, and as such, took extra time and effort to confirm my plan summary and potential/​estimated co-​pays before agreeing to having the procedure. I asked for the billing codes and called my insurance carrier myself. Additionally, I called and spoke to 2 different ladies in the office on several occasions. I asked that they call and get an estimate as well. They agreed and never got back to me. After following up with the office twice, I finally got an estimate of about $ 120 out of pocket; I understand that insurance was to only pay for the amalgam fee and that the composite charge was not covered as is often the case in recent dental policies. Since they are contracted, they have set fees that they can charge for a composite filling for example; you’d think that they would have accurate access to their contracted fees with Delta since Delta is paying the bills. This as this is a common service. Delta is a contracted provider and the fact that they were so off (and that I had to follow up twice), after calling Delta themselves is interesting…
What really makes me angry is that after paying my $ 96 after the procedure (I said to the lady that I was expecting around $ 120. She replied that Delta is typically very good with estimates up front that they it would be very close to this — the $ 96), I received an additional bill from Dr. Pope for nearly $ 300; that insurance only coved a portion and that the estimated amount that they gave me TWICE was WAY off. I specifically asked and spoke to two different ladies to ensure that my out of pocket was manageable; If I had known that it was $ 400 I certainly would not have scheduled all three fillings to be don’t simultaneously as I was in no pain and was not under the impression that it needed to be delt with ASAP.
When I called to discuss this most recent bill, they informed me that they didn’t even have my most recent dental summary on file (why neither of them caught this during the several times I called and stressed my interest in the potential cost is ridiculous). Additionally, when I paid to leave, they didn’t catch this either. I asked the lady (names with held) to kindly call Delta and get back to me… AGAIN, two plus weeks go by and I didn’t hear back. I called again today to follow up and had to go over the long and boring story AGAIN.
The money frustrates me — but the principal alone is reason that I will no longer refer friends and colleagues to this practice. The lack of basic knowledge, accountability and willingness to except that not one, but two of them gave out wrong information time and time again (and on two separate occasions failed to follow up with me) is ridiculous. Instead, they told me that I should have requested a formal Pre-​Auth from Delta. This was a simple rework of a filling; You’d think that you could trust what 2 different ladies tell you… and if a customer is calling numerous times, you’d suggest obtaining a Pre-​Auth.
I will make payments to them, becuase I have to — but will go elsewhere.

Had an exam and cleaning with Dr. Audrey Mojica this week. My teeth feel fantastic and she was very gentle.
I appreciate that Dr. Mojica is straightforward and honest. She was also very patient in answering my questions. She made her recommendations, but also took care to educate me so that I could make my own decision regarding how I proceed with my dental care.
She has a holistic perspective when it comes to dental health, which I greatly appreciate. She does a head and neck exam on top of the regular dental exam. She also spoke to me about the findings of her exam and how the health of my teeth impact my overall health.
There office is modern and clean. The staff is friendly.
If you are interested in a quality, gentle and professional dentist then I highly recommend you meet with Dr. Mojica.

After recently moving to the east bay. I went to Dr Pope. The cleaning was good and it was mordern. What i didn’t like was that they after clearing it with my insurance, they told me to pay a specific amount. I did, which was normal. They call me about amonth later stating that my bill was over due and that they have sent notices alerting me of this. I told them i had paid and never recieved any notices. But she said i needed to pay additionally. Never have I ever had a problem with a dentist asking me to pay again, she said the estimate was wrong, but i still i had to pay. So i say that’s fine, I just wanted to be over this. I will pay the 20 something bucks and i dont’ want to recieve any phone calls, as i no longer want your services. she said that’s fine. I rec’d my statement stating that i had paid. Now i just recieved a notice stating that i need to pay the same bill, which i paid two months ago via phone. This notice stated that i am over 90 days over due. They really need to to fire there Accouting person. This is really ridiculous.

I am in my 70’s and have had many dental experiences… and not all that good. I have been going to Dr. Pope for several years now and I find the staff as well as Dr. Pope very personable and professional. Dr. Pope’s first assignment with me was to redo one particular tooth crafted by a dentist in San Francisco. Dr. Pope was very competent with that assignment and since that experience, has been my favorite dentist of all times. When you are trying to decide on your dentist, please consider Dr. Pope and his team.

Great Dentist in Walnut Creek. Easy to make appointments, great staff and some of the best technology in dental care. Parking is never an issue.

Dr. Pope is very kind and does great work. I had a cleaning at my childhood dentist while I was away visiting my parents. As he was doing an examination he said Dr. Pope’s work was «great»!
I believe that Dr. Pope stands behind his work 100%. I know this because I came back in after having a restoration on a left bottom tooth and felt it was high, he fixed it immediately and then checked my other restorations. He found a small crack in a top right tooth and replaced the restoration free of charge. If that is not «standing behind your work» I’m not sure what is!
I’m very happy with the way my teeth look now and in the future I plan to get my gold crowns (I had these done somewhere else) replaced to match the rest of my beautiful teeth.

Horrible experience with getting some cosmetic work done from him. All they care about is getting your money and will not stand behind their work. Save your money and go elsewhere. I now have to go somewhere else to correct his work.

Fantastic dental office, with smart, caring staff!
Specializes in patients who have sensitivity/​anxiety around dental work. Dr. Scott, his staff, and the anesthesiologist (Dr. Lenhart) were very attentive and kind, explaining with out condescending at each step. The work was done professionally and with a smile on my 12 year old son’s face– something I never would have imagined.
Don’t let the location in an older building fool you — this is a top of the line, modern practice.

Dr Pope has been my dentist for several years now and I think he does a great job!!! His staff is also very friendly check him out!!! You won’t be disappointed.

I will NEVER leave this dentist unless i have to. They are AMAZING!
After being fed up with my old dentist, I decided to explore better options. I had seen Scott Pope’s office right across from my orthodontist for years. I went in and was impressed with the place. Very friendly! And the technology they have is amazing! Their x-​rays show up right on the computer and so you can see what they see. They are very thorough when they see me for check ups and cleanings. I’ve been going to them for about 3 years now. Since then, I have converted my whole family! They love this dentist! I will never change dentists again! I recommend Scott Pope to be everyones dentist! I’m also a big fan of Bob, one othe the dentists/​hygenists at the office. He has tons of loyal fans.

Working with Dr. Pope was by far the worst dental ordeal of my life. Awful. My story is too long and complicated to explain all the nuances, but I will say this much:
Dr. Pope promised results that he could not deliver. I felt condescended to by him and that my concerns were not taken seriously. As part of a treatment plan, I spent $ 3,500 on Invisalign as a first step. Unfortunately, Invisalign could not deliver the results that he promised. He refused to acknowledge this (even after we watched Invisalign’s own video illustrating my teeth in his office. The video clearly demonstrated a result that was NOT what he had promised. It was surreal because he kept saying that it was, in fact, correct.) When the truth became impossible to ignore, his solution was to jeri-​rig the Invisalign trays in his office to try to make them do what they should have done straight from the Invisalign factory. I was too far in to stop, so I unwisely trusted him. The results were insufficient. Further, he was always in a hurry.
Next, I had a huge issue with a front crown with him. He kept drilling away at it to correct the weird and counterproductive way Invisalign was impacting my bite. When I expressed concern about weakening the crown, he assured me he wasn’t taking off enough to matter. A few months later the crown broke off in my mouth. Draw your own conclusion about that.
When the crown broke, he totally forgot key aspects of my treatment plan that we had discussed repeatedly. Nor did he acknowledge any possibility of his own responsibility for the broken crown. After I thought about the whole ordeal, I realized I just couldn’t trust this dentist with something as important as my smile, let alone the health of my teeth. So, after he put in a temporary crown, I didn’t go back. Imagine my surprise when his office billed me for a permanent crown that he never placed! (He did remove that charge, but not for a $ 47 unnecessary digital xray. His office called repeatedly (twice in one week) to get that $ 47, too.)
The weird part throughout this ordeal is that he would just keep smiling at me and telling me how great things were going, but I never thought he was listening when I told him that the results were not great and that I was very worried. It’s like I kept saying, the sky is blue! And he’d say, no, no, the sky is green! Can’t you see? Trust me, it’s green. And for a while, I’d say, well, okay, you’re the expert, but it sure looks blue to me.
Happily, I found a new dentist who I absolutely love, and trust completely. Plus, his office staff are warm, accommodating, and compassionate, which is more than I can say for Dr. Pope’s staff. (His front desk lady clamped her hand on her mouth and literally recoiled in horror when she saw my mouth with its broken crown. Nice.) Now, the sky is definitely blue, and my new dentist doesn’t try to tell me it’s some other color.
My advice? If you need major dental work done, meet with several dentists before settling on one. Good luck!

When looking for a new dentist I turned to my Unilocal community and this is where I landed. I came in for a second opinion on some major work a dentist told me I needed. Dr. Pope was very patient, and his opinion matched a couple of other dentist’s in the Bay Area who also had a look.
I have since made Dr. Pope my dentist. I am so impressed at the technology in his office. He has an x-​ray machine that omits very low radiation. The machine is connected to the computer monitor, and you don’t need a lead vest, because it’s totally safe without one.
I also appreciate their technology that lets you know when you’re developing a cavity. This allows Dr. Pope to fix the problem before it costs you some big bucks. And the fix doesn’t even require you to be numb!
Best of all, his office is within walking distance from my home!
