I have been getting fantastic hair cuts from Angel for over 5 years. She gives me the best blow dry EVER. The salon has very professional receptionists that address the customers right away.

It’s only been a week since my first/​last visit and my red low lights have faded as well as the base color. Either my hair is really stubborn or Phoenix’s color mixtures do not last well or my hair didn’t get the right service.
Such a waste for $ 220. I’m not coming back

Just wasted my time driving from Pittsburg to this place for a «consultation.» I was interested in the Kerastase treatment, and when inquiring about it over the phone with the receptionist, I was told there were different choices based on my hair type, which the stylist would be able to consult me on before beginning the treatment. She recommended Angel, and said she would get back with me on the price after checking with Angel, but wanted to proceed with booking the appointment. So I booked my appointment 2 days ahead, and was given a reminder call, but never received a call back about the pricing.
I decided to kept the appointment anyhow, hoping this stylist would be able to help me with my hair. After circling the area I finally found a parking spot on the meter, which ate all my coins and did not increase the time limit… does not make sense to me, but hey, it is Walnut Creek. I checked in, and proceeded to the restroom. When I came out, Angel walked up and greeted me. I immediately felt some tension, like she did not really care to be there, and followed her over to her station. As I sat down she said, «so, what are we doing?» I looked at her a bit puzzled, since I did book an appointment, and explained everything about my hair, and what I wanted over the phone (hence the recommendation). I told her I was there for the kerastase treatment and again, she just stood there with this arrogant look on her face, «what kind of treatment? there’s Brazilian blowout, there this, there that.» I am thinking, «hella rude»… like, you are the stylist! She seemed confused as to what treatment I was talking about. I too was confused because it states pretty clearly on the website, «Kerastase Hair Treatments $ 30-​$ 65.» It does not state the different kinds offered. So, how would a client know which one if they’ve not yet been given that information? I was a bit irritated at this point, which I’m sure was expressed on my face. I told her I was looking to de-​frizz my hair, in hopes to relax some of the waves. My hair is somewhat fine and coarse, slightly wavy, thick, and down to my midriff. I made it clear that I did not want super straight hair. Still confused as to what I wanted, she goes, «well that’s going to take an hour and a half.» Like, «okay…» I was so stocked by how rude she was being, I just wanted to walk out right there. She then decided to inform me that I was booked for a «blow-​dry» which was only 45 minutes, so she could do the Brazilian blowout (which I never mentioned nor asked for), but it would have to be another day, and at her place because the salon does not allow it inside. When I asked why the receptionist only booked for 45 mins, she replied, «I don’t know (nor did she care), they should have booked you for a consultation.» Who has time to book a separate day just for a consultation?! I have two days off… I was really pissed at this point, and asked her if she could at least tell me the difference between all the treatment options. And again, I went back to the smoothing treatment, which was recommended by my previous stylist there, Dusty, as a good choice for my hair long term, since it was not as harsh. Angel advised me that there was no smoothing treatment that would get rid of my waves…“I don’t know which one is better, some people like this one, some people like that one (not very helpful).” She went on to say with an attitude, «I have hair very similar to yours, and this is a Brazilian blowout… you have wavy hair, it’s genetics.» Pffts, please do not insult me. Her hair was short and thin, nothing even close to my hair type. And she was contradicting what the salon advertises. She said «there is no way to straighten your waves without chemicals.» Then she quoted me $ 250 on the Keratase treatment (nothing close to what their website states), and informed me that the prices have recently gone up to $ 300, but she would still give it to me for $ 250. She kept repeating herself about how long it would take to do my hair, and that I would need to schedule another appointment for the any of the treatments. Well, clearly you do not have time to do anything… I realized I was getting nowhere, and that this rude bitch just wanted to shoo me away for whatever reason. I told her I had to think about it, and just walked out.
I will not be back. Why would someone pay $ 300 for services from someone so rude and unwelcoming? This was my third experience here, and overall they are overrated! The stylist are snobby (as if a cosmetology license requires a lot of intellect), there is no convenient parking, their services are way overpriced (Dusty did a mediocre job, and I still paid $ 100 for a trim, plus $ 50+ for the conditioner she recommended that I never use), the front desk is incompetent (this was the second time they failed to return a call). There are plenty of other salons in Walnut Creek eager to welcome new clients.

Poor service. Called my appointment early That I will be late 10 minutes. Arrived by salon and they canceled my appointment ! Very unprofessional and Nor accommodating. I would not recommend this place.

Before your cut or color at this great salon, I highly recommend you go upstairs to the comfy reclining massage chairs and get a fantastic manicure or pedicure from Zina. Your finger and toes will thank you for a beautiful, long lasting mani/​pedi and super soft, smooth skin. More than a cheap service? Yes, but way more worth it! Plus, spending an hour with Zina is a pleasure.

I love my stylist here. Obviously this is a business made up of several independent contractors, so I’m not going to gloat about my stylist, but rather the salon.
It is a beautiful salon with great lighting and amenities. They used to be an East Coast/​Mid-​West style salon where you get your hair done and can blow dry and style it on your own later. Recently, I have noticed that significantly less people style their own hair and most stylists do their own clients blowouts.
Their salon is clean and mostly updated.
I will add that the staff at the checkout is really nice and helpful.

No words can describe how happy and satisfied I left with my haircut Miriam is hands down so talented and her technique and style is over the top, she showed me every step of the way how to style, My hair and what she was using on my hair. I have had plenty of haircuts in my life but this is by far the best I have ever had. The service from when you walk into the door until the end. Thank you again Miriam for making me look like a celebrity. I will be back again.

Flora is the best. Nicole is the best. I am a cosmetologist that has suffered through so much miscommunication. They are both exquisite masters of their craft. I am in such good hands that now I don’t know what to do with my time. I certainly don’t have to work my own hair, so I’ll have to find other outlets that benefit the world, because my hair is so well taken care of. Oh thanks be to God. Bless you both. PS Jenni, Shae, Christina, Grady, you are all awesome. We just needed breathing room over the years. But it would be remiss of me to exclude you, because you are all awesome. Each in your own way. And art is an expression, and you all are artists. All of you. Thank you for all you have ever done for me.

Zina is wonderful at her craft for nails. I’ve been seeing her for several years & her products for gelish last the longest I’ve ever experienced in other nail shops. Zina is a sweet heart, she truly cares that I feel great about her work. She is warm & sweet company as well. I love how she is creating nail art, for Valentine day she added red hearts on my ring finger & my hubby loved it! The nail shop is upstairs in a loft where it is easy to relax. The front desk is very accommodating & professional. Love this busy beauty work shop!!! I give it 10 !!!

OMG! Let me just say that ANGEL is amazing! I haven’t cut my hair for about 2 years because I couldn’t find the perfect hair stylist. I asked my friend TINA if she knew any good hair salons and she told me about this place! Let me tell you, when I got there I was blown away. The place is beautiful and the people are very friendly!
I showed angel a picture of what I wanted and she did her magic! She listened to exactly what I wanted and she is super friendly! You guys need to go to ANGEL! She is Awesome! I will definitely be back! #foundmyhairstylist

Followed my stylist to this salon and loved it at first. Recently, my stylist went on leave and the front desk convinced me to try another stylist. Worst. Idea. Ever.
First, the stylist, Krystal, was 20 minutes late. I saw her paying the parking meter 15 minutes after my appointment time. When I finally got called back tot he station, the stylist proceeded to tell me how she slept through her first appointment. Not something I wanted to hear!
I explained to the stylist that I wanted to keep my length but have long layers put in and a trim. Along with that, needed to have my highlights blended through my roots. As she finished putting in my highlights, she asked one of the assistants to take me over to get processed and washed. She had the assistant help because she had asked the client that she slept through the appointment to come in to have her hair cut during my appointment. When my color was done processing, the assistant began to wash my hair. The assistant got water all down my face and neck!
Then comes the cut. I wanted long layers and to keep length. In return, I got a shag cut up to my collar bone!
I then went to pay. The receptionist who scheduled me failed to tell me that this stylist was going to be $ 50 MORE than my regular stylist!
I’ve never been picky about my hair, but this was terrible. I walked out of the salon and put my hair up in a pony tail immediately and have kept it up for the past 2 weeks now.
I called and spoke to the salon manager, Cynthia, who was not helpful at all. I told her no one told me of the price difference, and her response was minimal. She said there is nothing she can do since the sylists are contracted. I had also bought product, which she didn’t offer to reimburse.

Yes, I cross a bridge and go through a tunnel to get my hair «did» because Dalia is Phenom!!!
Dalia is definitely a «girl’s girl» and works her magic on my hair EVERY time!
I’m loyal, but had the tendency to experiment on my own (due to impulse) and instead of Dalia making me feel worse (the color went orange blonde eek!), she corrected the color and never once made me feel anything other than gorgeous!!!
Love her, love the salon and love my hair every single time :)

This is a great place to have any spa treatment done. They are unique from any other place as they also have great stylist on board. No need to go to SF for a great do! From the moment you call to make an appt. to the moment when you wait for services the experience is unique! It’s owners are very welcoming and walk to greet and talk with you. I missed and loved the new look of this special salon.

I’ve heard great things about this place but just came in for a 10:30 appointment to find out that they didn’t book my appointment and no one is available. A few ladies said to me on my way out that it’s happened to them as well. I am on my way out of town so rebooking for another day is not do able.
This shows that they don’t have great customer service or a front desk that does bookings properly.
I will not return here again and I will spread the word to friends to not go here either!

I’ve been getting my haircut by Angel Shay from here for years now. She listens to you in what you want unlike other stylist that I’ve gone to. I must say she is the best!!! U just have to request for her… You won’t be disappointed! Tell her, «I have seen Yvonne’s review on Unilocal!»

This is my history:
Natural hair color «ashy» brown.
For more than 20 years, coloring with Nutrisse black with a splash of Burgundy. Doing it by myself. (which is FAR from a hair professional). After deciding grow my hair a little bit longer and had a very messy experience coloring my hair last time (I dyed my hair and the bathroom’s wall too) I decided that all I wanted was to go back to my natural color and I need a color fix, done by a professional (Last time that I checked I had 3 different colors on my hair… Actually 4, if I count some of my gray… I was feeling embarrassed…)
After doing a large research, I found Dahlia. I had a first appointment that I told her what I would like to have done and I heard from her what she would need to do to fix that mess. Dahlia listened to me and told me what she needed to do to «deliver» what I wanted. She gave me step, by step, the way she works, the kind of products she uses, her schedule and prices.
I made one appointment, and I had to wait for one month to have my hair done. Her schedule is busy and I work full time.
Today, I had my hair done, and I could not be happier! Dahlia is a sweet pie, she took her time with me, went back and forth with me to make sure that I would leave happy with the results. She explain step by step what she was doing, what she was going to do and all the times she made sure that I could feel comfortable to share with her my opinion, positive or not. Another thing that she did, that really seemed really positive — She wrote notes about my hair, what I wanted, what she did, the #color that she used and etc.
Besides getting my hair color fixed, I just wanted to look natural, warm and I LOOOOOVE the result!
I’ve never felt my hair so soft and the result was better than what I expected!
I highly recommend Dahlia to take care of your hair! That girls is gifted, she listens and she knows what she is doing!

Decided to change up my look n got a A line lob. Love it!!! I was hesitant at first. I usually just do the trim with layers. But Skye asked what I wanted to do, she listened to my ideas n concerns and gave me exactly what I wanted!!! Thank u Skye! Great salon with awesome stylist that really care about u. Love love love them… Next on the list is coloring!!!

Michelle Bowen really is a miracle worker!!!
Thanks to her passion for perfectionism, my hair has been absolutely restored and revived! This girl definitely cares about making her clients happy. Such a relief!
So nice to be back to my old salon with such a fabulous new stylist.

I see Brook very often and she colors my hair. I absolutely think she is amazing! I am a perfectionist… you can imagine it’s not easy for me to find perfection but I am done looking. Brooke is very good at her trade and she is just a fabulous human being! I always get excited to go see her!
Last time I changed my hair color from my natural dark brown to a dark red violet! Breath taking!
Will go back before Christmas;)

I’ve been with stylist Dalia for years now as she’s moved from salon to salon, and I have to say Phoenix is the nicest salon she’s been at. They treat you well, and I love enjoying a complimentary cappuccino with my haircut!
Dalia is fantastic! She does cut, color, hair treatments, styling, the works! Plus she’s super sweet and very accommodating. She’ll work with you to make sure you get a cut and color you love!
