Specialties
I am a board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) providing breastfeeding help. Typically I can assist in correcting latching difficulties, painful nursing, low milk production, or inadequate weight gain. I also specialize in breastfeeding twins, tongue-tie, weaning, etc. I have great expertise in helping moms after they have left the birthing center.
The pediatrician serves baby, and your doctor serves you. But, the best most-informed breastfeeding care comes from an expert lactation consultant dedicated to both mother and baby and their interaction while nursing.
My philosophy is simple: «together we will make a plan»… that feels right for you. My time is not dictated by others, so we can ask all the questions, cover all the bases, so that we get to the root of the problem. I give positive feedback and emotional support to assure moms meet their breastfeeding goals.
History
Established in 2012.
I have workied with moms and babies since I graduated college. As a registered nurse (RN) I worked in Bay Area, Sacramento, and Southern California hospitals in Neonatal Medicine, Maternal Child Health, and Lactation for 20 years. My passion for helping moms led me to lactation consulting. I completed lactation qualification at UC San Diego and received extensive training at various Southern California hospitals; achieving IBCLC certification in 2003.
I was a leader in starting the lactation practice at Long Beach Hospital in 2003 – 5. From 2005 for several years afforded newborn lactation support at Walnut Creek John Muir Health in the hospital, and lactation consulting outpatient care at the John Muir Women’s Health Center. In 2008 I joined DayOne in Walnut Creek as the lactation consultant, and have remained there since; I still do lactation with new moms and babies at Alta Bates hospital in Berkeley. In 2012, I started my own private business in the DayOne Center at Walnut Creek.

Business Owner
Helping moms and babies is my whole career. Since the 80s I worked in neo-natal care in Bay Area and Southern California hospitals. Having recognized my passion to help moms breastfeed I took university classes, plus added extra credentials and experience to become a international board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) in 2003.
After providing lactation services in hospitals and outpatient centers at Long Beach Memorial and John Muir, I recognized that my biggest contribution and most rewarding experiences were helping moms after they had left the hospital… when the early euphoria has worn off, and some issues can surface that make it more difficult than it should be to breastfeed comfortably.
So, in 2008 I joined DayOne to do just that. I am privileged to have had some great breastfeeding successes helping new moms and babies. In 2012 with encouragement of DayOne, I started a private business offering the same service, from the same office… an exciting new start for me!
