History
Established in 2009.
Michael founded the Law Offices of Michael S. Martin, PC in 2009 after serving as the youngest Deputy District Attorney at San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office. As a prosecutor he handled over 500 arraignments, 40 cases to resolution, and five jury trials. One of which, he served as the second chair attorney to Homicide DDA Israels (now Judge Israels), for a six week special circumstance homicide trial that resulted in convictions on all charges and a sentence of life without possibility of parole.
Michael started his first office in the Central Valley in Northern California. Kate Petersen joined the firm in 2011 and was brought aboard by Michael due to his respect for Kate in observing her work quality and professionalism while working together at Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.
Meet the Manager

Manager
Kate Petersen attended San Diego State University for her undergraduate education. She graduated from the University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science, and with a minor in Spanish. Ms. Petersen then attended the University of Hastings for her law school education. There she served on the student leadership panel and Hastings Public Interest Law Foundation, was President of the Association of Students for Kids, was a member of the Hastings Race and Poverty Law Journal.
During her time in law school, she worked for Bay Area Legal Aid, the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office and the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office. Following graduation, Ms. Petersen worked in Civil Litigation, focusing primarily on insurance defense and public entity defense. She joined The Law Offices of Michael S. Martin, PC in May of 2011 in the Pleasanton office. As an experienced attorney, Kate is an outstanding asset to the firm and the clients she represents.
